Sunshine or 64
Sunshine or 64
sunshine
64
sunshine
64, no question.
Anyone who says sunshine prefers fluff and bullshit to solid gameplay
sunshine
64 is the best.
sunshine is a gimmick piece of shit with terrible level design
This.
64
rose tinted glasses
compare the levels again, nothing in 64 compares to ricco port
As much as I liked sunshine I gotta say 64 was better. Sunshine levels were gimmicky and full of bullshit.
Fuck man, thats like Apples and Oranges.
if I absolutely had to pick one I guess it would be 64.
Sunshine had better core mechanics but 64 had more fleshed out level design.
Super Mario World.
64
just play them both
thats literally a bunch of walkways hovering above water. one of the worst levels in the game
Sounds like you just have rose-tinted glasses for Sunshine
64>Galaxy>Galaxy 2>3>World>New U>New>3D World>Lost Levels>2>1>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sunshine
If you've actually tried every game ahead of Sunshine and liked them all then it might be worth your time.
They're about the same.
Sunshine had more stupid bullshit in it and the final boss sucked ass but it sure looked a lot better than Mario 64. And it did have its fair share of good levels.
Better question
3 or World?
>3D World that low
Shit taste
64
I had a clip on cover for my GBA SP with that exact same weird version of the mario cap logo.
sunshine
I feel like sunshine has the better game mechanics, but super mario 64 has the better level design due to it being less handholdish
I feel like in sunshine each time you enter a level you do a single star, however in 64 you could do a lot of stars at all times so you had more of an exploration aspect
I always thought I preferred sunshine but I'm starting to appreciate 64 more
literally nobody prefers 3 unless they have brain problems
M64 is my personal n1, i really tried to enjoy sunshine but whenever i played it i feel like some infantile piece of shit, For some reason i dont have this problem when i play thousand years door.
mario 63
i like the fludd mechanics better
plus theres a level editor
I have fond memories of searching for all the blue coins with my older brother one summer in Sunshine.
>fond memories
>of blue coins
Opinion discarded
>this is good level design to sunshine fags
It was a long summer.
and we used a guide
This
Sunshine/64>Galaxy>3D world space edition>3D Land>3D World
wrong.
>solid gameplay
nigger the camera is infuriating, controls are ass, just accept that sunshine is superior in every way.
Super Mario World. 3D Mario games were a mistake.
>after dominating the previous two generations Nintendo gets blown the fuck out by Sony
>managed to halt progress or take their established franchises into "new", awful directions from which they never recovered
>Mario 64 is objectively the worst Mario game, and is a soulless husk compared to SMW and SMW2
>brought absolutely nothing to the Mario canon
>transitioning Zelda and Donkey Kong Country to 3D was equally disastrous
>Zelda never recovered, actually a miracle that Tropical Freeze managed to be decent
>only reason Metroid was spared was because one of its creators found the N64 controller too confusing
>that series was later rebooted as a generic FPS and has since ceased to exist
>pretty much all the developers responsible for the classic and most memorable SNES games jumped ship to PSX
>N64's library was pitiful as a result
>players were so starved for games they had to delude themselves into believing the games they had were somehow the pinnacles of their respective genres
>they genuinely believe Goldeneye is somehow more influential than the myriad of legendary PC FPS games that preceded it
>Nintendo proceeded to get obliterated by Sony AGAIN in the next generation
>only thing keeping them afloat is the general homogenization between their competitors and their few fans who refuse to stop clinging to their beloved childhood franchises no matter how bad they get
Was the N64 truly the end for Nintendo?
TL;DR
>mario world
>good
sunshine fails in every way 64 doesn't
64 fails in every way sunshine doesn't
prove me wrong
Sunshine
64 and it's not even close. Sunshine is the worst 3D Mario.
How is that even a question? In sunshine you don't even need to jump precisely, you're always saved by the water cannon gimmick. The only honest platforming in the entire game is in the bonus stages without the fludd. The level design is tedious as fuck as is completing the game.
Mario 64 has no fat, it's lean as fuck where every single star is on point. It's one of the most fun games to complete. People who prefer Sunshine are underage fags who grew up with the gamecube and like wind waker the best too although it's the shittiest 3D Zelda.
> People who prefer Sunshine are underage fags who grew up with the gamecube and like wind waker the best too although it's the shittiest 3D Zelda.
Holy shit user, you can't drop too many truth bombs at once
64 for sure. While I think Sunshine was much more enjoyable than waggle Galaxy, 64 is literally a revolutionary game and still has some of the best platforming mechanics.
I think you're just blinded by nostalgia. The Gamecube was the better system overall in games and hardware
fuck you wind waker is the best 3d zelda game
Ranch or cool ranch?
Cool Ranch
I pick 3D World, I've grown disillusioned with open ended games. Thank Breath of the Wild for that.
I emulated Mario 64 with a 360 controller and had fun but it was hard sometimes getting the 120 stars
Should I emulate Sunshine at some point?
64, sunshine has cancer blue coins
>Hate Sunshine
>Hate atmosphere
>Hate story
>Hate that almost every level feels the same
>Hate cleaning up messes with the FLUDD
>Hate that FLUDD makes skilled platforming meaningless
>Hate how casual of a skill level you need to win
>Hate Piantas
>Hate music
>Hate the Bowser Fights
>Don't mind the blue coin missions
Is there something wrong with me? I thought they felt pretty similar to collecting red coins in 64.
>he says while posting an image of the most stupid fucking chore of a mission
If this was ironic, congrats
Sunshine. The obstacle course levels alone make it better.
It wasn't that hard
The blue coins themselves are fine, but they're just padding and having to go to the raccoons to trade them in was obnoxious
64 > sunshine = 3D World > Galaxy > Galaxy 2
>Hate everything else but blue coins
There is something wrong with you.
But still it was pretty subtle if you were just glancing over the thread
Good taste. They are all great games, too.
What?
What kind of faget doesnt include Galaxy into the options you fucking cuck
the boot literally might as well noteven be listed. you can use it in like, 1 level and thats it
He's comparing the games that are alike. Galaxy is linear so he's excluding it. That's what I believe anyway.
Fucking take this reddit garbage out of here you scum.
He also neglects to mention the different types of Yoshi's you can get in the game.
I don't actually disagree with any of this but at the end of the day I still find SMW to be a more enjoyable game
Galaxy
>sunshine
>have to spray literally every texture in the entire game with water to find blue coins
>people actually defend this
>that god awful bowser fight
>that god awful lava stage before the bowser fight
>pachinko level
>riding the boats to get to the island with yoshi
>being able to lock yourself out of getting 100 coins by choosing the wrong mission or entering a sub area too early, without knowing you had done so
>camera swinging behind mario for literally no reason when you hover
>sand bird zooming the camera out so mario is a speck
>watermelon festival
sunshine is great, but there's way too many shitty parts, the worst you can say about 64 is the camera isnt perfect sometimes
>Difficulty is bad
Wow I thought Sup Forums wasn't this pleb but damn...
neither. pic related is superior.
64 if you want to play something easy
Sunshine if you want a challenge
Sunshine is better in every single way. Most of the stars in SM64 were running down the same exact hallways and paths and branching off at a point to get a different star. At least Sunshine mixed the levels up more depending on what star you chose.
Example is Whomp's Fortress. You have to climb up to kill Whomp for a star and then do it all again just to get to the tower. It gets old really fast. The only good levels in SM64 are the upstairs levels.
ITT the game you grew up playing or played first
Not level design.
64 by a country mile. Half of Sunshine isn't even platforming and the reason people claim it as their favorite is because of initial bias. It's the first one they played. For the same reason people hold Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid 3, and Breath of the Wild as favorites.
>D-Pad Controls
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>implying it's a problem
get gud
no hot scuttlebug action
how can you even compete
But I like Sunshine and BotW better and I played SM64 and OoT on release day
you are genuinely retarded
What's the problem here?
didnt know wario looked like that
kek
DS version visually looks fine. The only real complaints about the game are the controls and arguably the padding.
64, because FLUDD makes the platforming far too easy.
>Sunshine
>you pick a shinesprite and can only get that designated shinesprite that the game points you to
>64
>you pick the star but the level is open enough that you're allowed to get any star if you explore
Well that aint a hard choice.
Sunshine hands down
64, but I'm willing to admit that might be nostalgia
I like sunshine too though, really the only things I don't like about it are the way it handles the blue coins and the lack of level variety (obviously the levels make sense in the context of the games story I just don't care for them compared to 64)
FLUDD is a great mechanic though and I wish we got a sunshine 2
Galaxy
DS looks better
I love the levels and aesthetics of Sunshine and I enjoy FLUDD's contribution to the gameplay, I just wish he hadn't been padded out with blue coins and had two or so more levels instead.
Can you beat Sunshine in 1 A press?
Well, now I just wanna go play SMSS again.
Blue coins would have been better if you had some kind of indicator telling you which levels still had blue coins to find and how many.
>the myriad of legendary PC FPS games that preceded it
A whole three of which anyone has ever heard of
64 has better levels
Sunshine has better mechanics plus graphics.
I'll go with Sunshine.
>not Goomba
That's literally called a "Galoomba" you chode.
>Mario 64 is objectively the worst Mario game
great post my dude
64 is more often associated with video game history.
So 64 fails in graphics and Sunshine fails in everything else.... Sounds accurate.
You're not wrong there.
Nothing in 64 is as bad as Sunshine.
