Do you think xbox has actually chance to make a comeback? claims it's "First and only true 4k gaming console". If it is true 4k console, unlike 1440p pro, will you actually buy it?

I'm kinda sceptical about it, but i guess we will see it soon. Also rumor floating around that scorpio is gonna cost more than regular console at launch (A.K.A more than 400$+)

I don't see scorpio selling well at all, it gonna cost more than xbox s and ps4 pro and ms don't have games at all

None of that matters if there's no games.

4K is not going to win any console race. Only games will.

No. Its the final death rattle of a brand that has been on its way out for a couple of years now.

I don't think it's ever gonna over take the PS4 and the Switch might even outsell it.
I do look forward to trading in my One S for Scorpio though. I'm all for getting a system that will consistently hit 4k and throws in better performance for games that devs don't wanna update.

At E3 gaming journalists were reporting it as the more powerful alternative to the PS4. Then once Spencer started throwing around "elite" everyone shut up because they knew it would cost an arm and a leg.

Resolution doesn't matter any more. Upscaling looks just as good as native after all these years. It's all about exclusive games that are not on PC because it's best for business if they are forever locked at 30FPS.

Microsoft did claim that the console wasn't aimed for the normies but to the more "serious" gamers.

come on guys.... the ps4 didnt beat xbone because of graphics.

its about price. xbox are just digging a bigger hole for themselves with the scorpio.

and it wont even get the most out of the games unless the scorpio becomes its own platform.

if you want power then you get a pc.... its literally that simple.

no exclusives.

lets make another console and pray people buy it. because i am sure we earned their trust with the xbone muahahhahahaa

fucking hell

There was an user that said he worked at Microsoft who said that the Scorpio will cost 500$ not too long ago. I know that we should call bullshit on it and move on, but he did make a point. Microsoft will be selling the console cheaper than it's worth but plan to make more off it from its Xbox live feature. So I honestly think 500$ seems reasonable.

Pretty sure I saw that thread, the guy said $450

But it did. COD in 1080p suddenly mattered and Sony shilled the fuck out of it like it was the second coming. "1080p 60FPS or death". And when they failed at that, the biggest shilling Sony does is "Look at all the graphics" with Uncharted 4 and Horizon's entire selling point being the graphics (Cause Horizon sure as shit can't sell on the gameplay compared to Zelda).

But then the goalposts are constantly moving. Graphics don't matter between PS4 and PC but they matter between PS4 and Xbone/Switch. Resolution matters until Scorpio starts having higher resolutions on multiplats and then it no longer matters because xbone has no games. Even though Xbone was sold on exclusives between 2013 and 2015 while PS4 had one, single, game.

E3 is gonna be hilarious.

The Pro has a small handful of native 4K games so this is a straight up lie.

The Xbox One has more 1080p games than the Pro has Native 4k titles.

>6 teraflops
downclocked Vega 11 confirmed

I'll get one if they have good games, I don't care if they are on windows 10 as well. I like the play anywhere stuff they are doing since I get a free PC version, but I don't like playing on Windows 10 so I'd rather play their games on console.

And your point is?

>upscaling looks just as good as native

THE FUCK DOES TRUE 4k GAMING AND HIGH-FIDELITY VIRTUAL REALITY MEAN?

The PS4 Pro is as much a 1440p system as The Xbone is a 720p system.
Hard to really call it a 4k console when they can't even hit it with their first party titles.

I already have a machine that plays XB1 first party games in 4k

Cinematic 10 FPS

>The Xbone is a 720p system

More like a 900p/Dynamic 1080p machine

True 4k at a decent FPS is unlikely unless the console sells at like $1000. 4k also means shit when most people don't have 4k TVs.

But none of this addresses the consoles real issue. It still has no fucking games.

PS4 Pro does 4k in a checkerboard pattern. It's sort of like the difference in 1080p and 1080i.

There are plenty of games Xbox has that no other console plays. Microsoft just doesn't want to force the Windows 10 master race to settle for a console to play them

You didn't answer the fucking question. And no PS4Pro also does native 4k. It is up to the developer.

they shouldve cut their losses and focused on exclusives instead of hardware, not the other way around.
this e3 has the potential to be another bloodbath for them

True 4k means native 4k rez. High fidelity VR means VR about on par with the Oculus.

>Cause Horizon sure as shit can't sell on the nostalgia compared to Zelda
ftfy

The nogames argument is silly, especially since I don't want to play on Win10. I'm not gonna play Halo 6, Sea of Thieves and Crackdown on on win10.

also Halo 5 is the best Halo MP since Halo 2

Who the fuck cares about anything past 1080 if you can't even get above 30fps

Ps4Pro does true 4k in the same way PS3 did true 1080p. You will find some low budget simple games or remasters that render in 2160p yes., but for AAA games like Horizon, PS4pro isn't strong enough to render the whole image in 4k in one pass. Instead it does it in a checker board style. Think of an actual checkerboard. PS4Pro would update the red squares on one pass and then the black squares on the next pass. This creates shimmering and other artifacts.

Yeah, I don't wanna play their first party games on Windows 10 either. Don't forget the greatness that is Forza Horizon 3[/spiler]

I've been stuck with nothing but an Xbone for almost 3 weeks now, I'm posting from one right now. It has nothing but multiplat, overpriced AAA trash. I've looked and looked and that is all it has (and it all plays better on other platforms anyway).

Worst console I have ever owned.

What do you mean by "comeback"?
The xbone is selling well enough. Way better than the HUEG. The brand will live.
If you mean comeback in terms of sales, of course not. The PS4 is already about 16 million units ahead, and the lines between generations are being blurred. Add the fact that Japan doesn't give a shit about xbox no matter how many good games it has, the Xbox has little chances of catching up in sales this "generation"

>low budget
>the division is native 4k on ps4pro
>all AAA sports games
>Several other AAA games are native 4k
>Most indie games are native 4k

Point?

>most powerful console ever
>held back by the fact that they have to make games for the original xbox one anyways

>lines between generations are blurred
what did he mean by this?

>But none of this addresses the consoles real issue. It still has no fucking games.

Neither did the PS4 but it still didn't stop people buying it.

Those games were designed with the original PS4 in mind and the simplest way to take advantage of the Pro with older games is to just raise the resolution. Most new games will use checkerboard rendering and add more post processing going forward.

Nintendo starting 9th gen with the Switch while Sony and Microsoft are keeping their 8th gen consoles on life support by shitting out an upgrade

supersampling is a nice thing you know

supersampling doesnt mean shit to normies

>PC version means they can make it for PC first and then port to console
>PS4 pro will be held back by base PS4 and won't have PC to bail it out

Interesting

What's the point in all that extra power if no developer is going to use it?

The PS4 is close to a 60 million install base. No publisher is going to release a game on Scorpio that can't run on PS4.

Unless Microsoft has a fuck-ton of first-party games ready to take advantage of the hardware (which I supremely doubt considering how few studios they have and how many projects they've scrapped over the last 18 months) that's a whole lot of extra power going to waste.

The E3 floor space they've booked for this year is smaller than Activision's for goodness sake)

If they say it's a pc as well then it'll win, if not it's dead

The PC is close to a god knows how big install base. No publisher is going to release a game on PS4 that can't run on PC.

What's your point? The game is still going to have to run on a PS4. Microsoft's attempt to kickstart a new generation is just not going to work.

>500$ machine does true 4k
Are they selling this shit at 500$ loss?

Probably, that's why they're coming out with the game pass sub to help further subsidize hardware costs

>PS4 will still be weaker and hold back the pro version
>Scorpio can just use the PC version

But the game still needs to be able to run on a PS4! That means any improvements a PC/Scorpio version may have are going to be small things like a resolution bump or a more stable framerate. You're not going to see any third-parties making brand new, revolutionary games that can only be possible because of this supposed "next gen" hardware.

>make a comeback
>at this point ahead of the 360 at the same time in its life

Xbox One is a big success

Yeah, but at least one of the consoles will have 4k textures available to it.

If you care so much about 4K being standard in all your games, then you're a PC gamer. Why the fuck would you buy a Scorpio?

Hey, I know. Let's just leave out the PS4 version.
Genius.

>he seriously thinks 4K games on Scorpio won't just be 1080p assets running at a higher resolution

Microsoft can't market the Scorpio as a generational jump in hardware if all it's going to do is play current-gen games at 4K.

>A publisher is going to ignore a 60 million install base in 2017

It's like they dont even know their own audience.

>60 million install base
>PC has over 1 billion

No space for my PC when I have to travel 8 hours every 4 months for School by train. My Xbone fits in my backpack with my laptop/tablet.

...

>6 teraflops
>teraflops
>flops.

No chance.

I guess that explains why the Scorpio is being marketed as an Xbox One that plays games in 4k

Yes, I can see it, I can't wait to play Halo 6 on this thing.

It's on PC, and the only place it can actually be enjoyed the way it's mean to be.

Xbox has already made a comeback. It's a service and not a console. The Scorpio is simply a new choice of hardware. If 4K gameplay is your desire for the games go get a fucking Titan X and some top of the line i7 and there you go. The Scorpio is a fine option but why go for one of the newer mid range options when you could go top of the line at 4K with good performance and frames on top of it if you're wanting all that fidelity.

You're retarded if you think PC gaming has 1 billion active users or is even a major influence for publishers

99% of those PCs don't even have gaming specs and a a large portion of the remainder pirate everything anyway (or buy the games for $2 in a Steam sale).

I remember that guy confirming $450 as well.

It doesn't matter how good the console is if there are no games

>It's on PC, and the only place it can actually be enjoyed the way it's mean to be.
actually the xbone version is more stable

My point exactly, develop for PC and have a slightly dumbed down version for Xbone, leave PS4 out completely. Everyone profits.

>everyone profits from a console with no install base and a userbase that pirates their shit and refuse to use anything but Steam

yeah look at all that money

Scalable since all games are made in UWP. Xbox is a Windows 10 box now.

Nah, the Xbox is dead. Dudebros either moved over to PS4 or dropped vidya entirely.

There's going to be a new third contender in the console wars next gen.

How bad will Crackdown 3 flop?

Does anyone even care anymore?

>DUDE CLOUD PROCESSING LMAO

Scorpio gets the benefits of the higher fidelity PC assets and the stability from optimizing for only one hardware spec.

Forza wasn't pirated all that bad on PC and was quite popular to boot.

Microsoft is no longer doing gens, starting with the Scorpio they will release far more powerful iterations every 4-5 years that has BC to all Xbox games and FC to the next console like a PC.

That's not third-party. Of course Microsoft's first-party games aren't going to be on PS4. I already mentioned that here But unless Microsoft has been secretly building studios or money-hating third-parties, you're not going to see a lot of exclusive Scorpio titles that can actually take advantage of the hardware.

The only man-power they have is the teams that churn out Halo, Gears, Forza and Rare. Even Fable has been culled.

>windows 10 store
>popular

keep telling yourself that

No good having all that hardware if there's noting interesting to play.
It needs a killer app of the same impact as Halo CE.

Crackdown 3 was at GDC, it was pretty cool seeing a GTX 980ti buckle to 10fps from a single building explosion compared to the rock solid 30fps the Xbone connected to an online server was getting.

It is though, especially when it's the only choice.

It's impressive. But they way they were touting it made it seem like the actual gameplay is just an afterthought.

>Microsoft can't market the Scorpio as a generational jump in hardware if all it's going to do is play current-gen games at 4K.
But that's not what it does, games made for Scorpio/Windows 10 have 4K textures and will be scaled down on Xbone while a different version will be made for the PS4 family.

It's not the Windows 10 store that was popular, just Forza Horizon 3. It's pretty much GOAT PC racer.

If it has the Halo 6 Beta it won't.

I don't have Forza sales numbers so I'm not going to bother to debate you about whether it sold well or not. It's a moot point anyway since Forza is a Microsoft IP anyway; they can afford to publish it at a loss if it ultimately encourages people to buy their system and subscribe to Live.

Third-parties aren't in that same boat; they NEED to sell units. And they're not going to make a profit on a $50 million game by only releasing it on Scorpio (current install base 0) and PC (a market with massive piracy and a user-base that's been trained to buy everything cheap in a Steam sale).

>All that graphic power just to play halo and gears of war

I can't wait for the Scorpio

They still don't have games

>Original Crackdown team
>Assisted by the Sonic All-Stars Transformed team
>Lead designer on Sumo Digital's side was the lead designer of PGR, Blur and Sonic All Stars Transformed

The only thing Microshit are doing wrong is not advertising the fuck out of "It's the next game from the Sanic All-Stars team" and everyone will take fucking notice.

Worked for the 360 :^)

Yeah, but who?

Xbox is a family of devices and a locked down PC with Microsoft Office now, Xbox is a service now, the Console War is dead, it's time to give it up.
