Playersexuals

For those not familiar with the idea, playersexual was a term coined to refer to how the romance options in DA2 were all effectively bisexual and were romanceable by the player, irregardless of the player's gender. There was almost immediate backlash from the gaming community, with many people complaining that it destroyed immersion by making the game feel less like a static world and more like a personal playground.
Ever since then, Bioware has bowed to the pressure and have gender-gated and even race-gated the romance options, meaning that only a few options will be available to the player, instead of all of them. The gaming community has accepted this.
This is bad.

Yes, it is unrealistic that all romance options just happen to not care what your gender is. But there are many things that are unrealistic in gaming that we accept otherwise the games themselves would not be fun. We accept, for example, that missions will just sit there in stasis until we, the player, gets around to starting them even though it is highly unlikely that would be the case. We accept this because the alternative (having all missions be on timers) would dramatically reduce the enjoyment of a number of players. We suspend disbelief and keep playing.

Similarly, opening up all love interests to all players has many advantages too. The immediate obvious benefit is that players can finally have the love interest that they want to romance while playing the gender you want to play. No more romancing someone you're not that into because the one you really want is locked to you. Or playing as a gender or race you don't want to because that's the only way to get the romance that you want. And on a meta level, no more having to read a bajillion threads and comments from players speculating on who can be romanced by what or being upset with who their romance options are. Wouldn't this be better? Is having to suspend your disbelief about one more in-game mechanic that much of a sacrifice to make?

no one fucking cares

i just want a game that isn't SHIT

...

I'm okay with NPCs having static sexual orientations.
I just want them to be attractive. BioWare seems only willing to do one of these things.

SHUT THE FUCK UP

SOURCE YOUR QUOTES OH PEE

>This is what gaming has become, caring more about what imaginary waifu you will get a 10 seconds, shitty animated "sex" with.

How about, we talk about the shitty game design and graphics and general degradation of difficulty and complexity as all the budget is spent on designing queer/horribly written "quirky" millennial looking characters.

>irregardless

Skyrim did it and people love it. Bioware fans are just weird.

Who is Vetra?

But user, that's been EVERY Mass Effect thread.

It's part of the game especially in RPG.

bet she has a foot long horsecock too

Why does it matter if they're queer? That doesn't cost any more to program.
Sounds like you're just a triggered suburban faggot who came here from Sup Forums.

What's the fucking point? A footlong human cock is sexier.

>irregardless

stop

I'm pretty sure the Fable games let you fuck anyone you want. Then again, the whole thing is played for laughs.

>1.8 percent of men self-identify as gay
>1.5 percent of women self-identify as lesbian
>Every fucking character apparently needs to be gay/queer is every game.

It's one big meme

It's 7% for people 18-35 which is most gamers.
Majority of highschoolers don't identify as strictly heterosexual.

I don't know why this reams of SJW but it does, and I don't like it

Realtalk, not that this thread cares but "any character will always fuck you" is a shitty game design decision and people who probably support it probably also support the quest arrow in Skyrim. It's a question of whether you prefer the game to ask you to suspend disbelief and present a "realistic" vision of an internal world with its own rules and consistent behaviors, or prefer the game to self-consciously present itself as an escapist illusion which exists to shovel satisfactory content into your brain as quickly and easily as possible. In short, filthy dumb casual scum are to blame for bisexuals. thank u and goodnite

Majority of high schoolers are also edgy teenagers going through a rebellious phase.

Human cock is gay.
Horsecock is not.

>bisexuals aren't realistic

She will never hold a candle to Garrus no homo

So about 1.65 people identify as gay? Holy shit, that's a lot of gay people. That's about 122,100,000 open gays in the world. Let alone all the undisclosed gays. And we haven't even counted the bis and queers.

>prefer the game to self-consciously present itself as an escapist illusion which exists to shovel satisfactory content into your brain as quickly and easily as possible
Yes, this is what the masses want

The greater issue is not that everyone is bisexuals, is that they will fuck you even if you look like pic related, or for that matter if you keep throwing grenades at them every time you get a chance. it's just lazy game design basically, it's putting the endorphins before the integrity of the work.

Having every character's sexuality bend to yours isn't.

Some characters being bisexual options makes sense, like ME2 Kelly and Zevran.

Why would you put some nebulous quality like integrity over making a game that's fun and makes the people playing it happy?

'Playersexual' NPCs is a Mary Sue symptom

>irregardless

This is not a word, you inbred mongrel.

let the free market decide. do it and see.

She's been described as a ship mother, but with the shyness of Tali.

>let the free market decide
I hope you like microtransactions, launch dlc, dmr, and paid online.
Based free market!

Because they've poisoned the waterhole on these sorts of issues. You can't say something like "I think more fluid romance options in RPGs is good design" without it stinking of SJWism even if you aren't an SJW.

Then how did you understand their post?

Principled design is a great source of fun and good memories. If I wanted fun without integrity, I'd just fuck your mom.

Who are the fuggables in this again?

All multiplayer DLC is free, and no one is screwed over by the microtransactions because it's PvE.

sounds gay. Hope we can just lone wolf it. All the characters sound insufferable. Where is my Garrus bro. Where is my stoic commando teammates, where is my James bro. Where is my Wrex bro, where is my Canderous Ordo and HK-47 bros.

FPBP

To each, his own. Liam is the bro now. Drack's a cool krogan, elder of the Nakmor clan.

Mary Sues seem to be a staple of RPGs, though. You almost always play as some particularly gifted character.

I don't think it matters if every character is potentially bisexual. I think what matters more, is that it's so transparent, it's like seeing the inner clockwork of the game. You shouldn't be able to see behind the curtain.

The player shouldn't have the ability to bed every character with ease. Getting a character to be romantic with the player should be a long investment, which essentially forces the player to omit other options, in order to invest their time and energy into the one option.

Ideally, your average player should never have the wherewithal to pull off multi romances in a single game. That feat should be only attainable by the most dedicated players.

Being a male and romancing a canonically lesbian character is the literal definition of rape. You are literally forcing your own childish infatuation over the character's personally preferred sexual orientation which is a violation of the NAP giving her a reason to use her child labor force to manufacture a nuclear warhead to drop on you but the nuclear fallout reaches the local McDonalds that send their PMC to seize her property and throw her in jail because she didn't have the 5 bitcoins to pay the local police for their annual premium optimally mandatory law enforcement subscription.

There's a significant difference between being the Chosen One and everyone's Chosen One

There's noting wrong with fictional rape.
