Yeah. Her dad sacrificed his life to seal away the Sea of Death. An egg appeared shortly after this and hatched into Wadanohara. He implies that her mom was connected to the moon somehow ("I, the sea, and she, the moon...") but we never see her mother and Deep-sea Prisoner hasn't designed or said anything else about her.
Not that weird, at least two of Ivlis's kids are created from magical flame.
