>here's your controller bro

this is so funny words cannot express the keks.

I have terrible memories of ipega dpads and this looks exactly the same as the one I used.

Are there any good gamepads like the one OP posted in which you can fit your phone both vertically and horizontally?

It should theoretically be the perfect way to emulate DS games.

What is this?

NVIDIA Shield K1 Tablet, you can stream PC games and emulators on it. Saw some dude playing Breath of the Wild on it and I was seriously contemplating getting this instead.

A bluetooth controller with some sort of tablet attached to it.

>It should theoretically be the perfect way to emulate ds games

You know... the ones that dont require both screens.

>you can stream PC games and emulators on it

Why would I want to play a game with latency?

What do you mean?

Because not everything is an action game.

Wait until either the Xbox On/Off or the Sony Dimmer come out.

There's barely any latency though if you're using the GameStream app.
t. Shield owner

You mean this?

Obviously neither.

>ITT: kids who aren't allowed to use the big screen TV for their vidyogays.

holy shit that is cool

The Shield shit because shit when GPD Win came out.

please tell me that the ds' bottom screen is emulated as the top one in this pic.

Elaborate, please.

Holy shit, you're a nimrod.

buy whichever you think you'll get the most use out of.
for me it was the switch because i dont like game streaming, even when the latency isnt bad its still not good.

also iv become bored of modern games and just want to play something that isnt a "cinematic experience"

>Switch sells gangbusters
>Sony reconsiders making a new handheld

Sounds good to me. Vita is amazing outside of Sony's retarded memory format and lack of support.

Well the patent is from 2015, only been made public last month.

I had an ipega thing attachable to a phone with dpad looking just like that one. The dpad required a bit more force to press than you'd expect and had very sharp edges. As a result, it cuts into your thumb within minutes. It actually made me come back to touchscreen overlay controls, so you can imagine how bad it was.

Yeah, it was old shit, I remember rumors about it.

i dont think it would sell, they would have to make it an actual ps4 in a tablet to make it viable.
nintendo has an iron grasp on the handheld market and people still remember how much of a flop the vita was.

>nintendo has an iron grasp on the handheld market
not for long, kek

Foxconn rumors about the same time as Switch and PS4 Pro

They're just in it for the sport. You know, like Xbox.

I'm getting PSP deja vu from your post.

You know how that turned out.

fuck off sperg

Its sad cause vita had the tools to be great. Remote play, OLED screen, good graphics for a handheld, comfy controls. Sony fucking is terrible at manageing their shit. Even the vita tv which you can find for like 20 bucks was basically the Switch concept of playing your handheld games on your tv. Most people dont even know about the tv though.

Actually PSP Go did it first. It had a dock with TV out and you can use your DS3 as the controller

I loved my vita, it was ahead of its time.
greedy japan keeping all the good games for themselves killed it.
monster hunter jumping ship was a massive bullet to the knee as well.

>OLED screen

I'm still mad about Sony removing this in the first revision of the Vita.

when will OLED replace LCD?
id rather play at 720 on an OLED than 4k on an LCD

Yeah, that one. I made that image as a joke and not two weeks later Sony came out with that.

I am not so sure. On paper combining their handheld and console markets sounds good but in reality the Switch might crash and burn because of its price point of the hardware and software. Now if Nintendo makes a 2DS kind of Switch for the low price handheld market, then this will cannibalize the regular Switch market. Why buy the higher priced product that can play mostly the same MH, Pokemon or Mario titles against the lower priced product? 'Premium' handheld never wins after all.

OLED isn't without its issues. I guess certain colors cause their life to reduce drastically and if you view a black screen in dark room the vita screen is splotchy as hell. Not really a big deal but someone in a dark room watching a movie would notice it.

It's from 2015 though.

"Premium" Sony handheld never wins after all.

i can imagine a "switch mini" which has a smaller screen and no detachable joycons.
i dont think we would ever see an "xl" because its already as big as they can get away with.
maybe if they were to remove the screens bezel to make it a cm larger like that, and add a bigger battery

>you can stream PC games and emulators on it.
For what purpose? Why don't you play on the PC with comfortable controls and big monitor?

Or Sega, or SNK, or Bandai, or etc. The cheapest ones were the winners and correct me if I am wrong, Nintnedo ones were always cheaper than their competitors.

Yeah, I agree. If they also put a real d-pad on it, then I am sold. Really, removing d-pad for a once in a blue moon used gimmick is retarded. Fuck that.

There is currently no competition in the handheld market

Yeah but we didnt know about it until recently, the wonders of industrial espionage.

There barely is a handheld market.

So you are saying people will put up with high prices now because of no competition in the form of a real handheld? Maybe they will, maybe they won't. I think they won't.

It was part of a Foxconn leak also. And I think patents are usually have a set date to be made public

gamepur.com/news/24032-ps4-neo-very-heavy-psp-device-production-foxconn.html

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patent_application
>Patent applications are generally published 18 months after the earliest priority date of the application. Prior to that publication the application is confidential to the patent office. After publication, depending upon local rules, certain parts of the application file may remain confidential, but it is common for all communications between an Applicant (or his agent) and the patent office to be publicly available.
>The publication of a patent application marks the date at which it is publicly available and therefore at which it forms full prior art for other patent applications worldwide.

The patent is for rumble in a handheld btw.

>Sony copied Nintendo
>2015

Do people really think that Nintendo invented gaming tablets ffs?

if we were to see the next iteration of the psp it wluld surely cost equal to or more than what nintendo offers.

they would want it to be a graphical power house so they can say "sony dose what nintenont"
and nobody will buy it or develop for it.

Nintendo disagrees

Yes.

Yeah, probably. Sony makes lots of retarded decisions, even more so for their handhelds so I can see this happening.

There are niggers out there who think they waz kangz and built the pyramids. Nintenfriends are niggers.

When Nintendo, a company that is 20 years behind in policies starts making mobile games you need to get the hint. If phone controls got better and they put pokemon and mon hunter on phones, the handheld market would officially collapse.

i mean, i could be wrong.
they turned arround the ps3 before the end of its cycle, and won the current generation by watching mistakes Microsoft made.
id like to see healthy competition but i dont see it happening in nintendos market, Nintendo have always done there own thing sinse the late 90s and they aren't really even in direct competition with anyone anymore.

...

>if you view a black screen in dark room the vita screen is splotchy as hell
This is really pissing me off and makes me want go for the Vita 2000 with a nice IPS panel. Splotchy OLED just means cheap, and yet that thing is expensive as fuck

Pokemon AND monster hunter is already on phones.

The handheld market didn't collapse, you are just out of the loop because you have no interest in it.

I was using my Shield Tablet about an hour ago, it's excellent for emulation, everything I throw at it works pretty much perfectly and the Nvidia Controller is pretty decent, use it in console mode, you'll get a better experience senpai.

Pokemon sun and moon are in the app store? You relaly think the average person knows how to emulate old pokemon game son their phones? They also want to play the current games not red and blue.

How does it bother you? It only shows in a dark room on a black screen. A black screen means theres nothing on screen so who cares. Its not like it affects gameplay.
