I'm also curious about this. Ive played Mario and some pokemons on there. I was thinking maybe bravely default.

The only issue is that i work at a store that sells games and I'm worried about the looks ill get when i take this up to the counter

Do you need to know anything about the series to get into dragon quest or is every game stand alone like FF?

Rithm heaven, Zelda ports, sm4sh, Zero time dilemma, kingdom hearts, fire emblem (both awakening and conquest/birthright).

Offline you are into JRPG shit then Bravely series , megami tensei series, Stella Glow are good.

Blaster Master Zero is like 4 hours as a game in between games

I rely on pre-owned copies both because stock of these sorts of games are so uncommon and also the staff price of a pre-owned is whatever the customer was given for it in credit at trade-in.

OP here, I'm an avid fan of Pokemon, and I do own the Ocarina remakes, otherwise i have no other games for 3ds in my library

Each one has its own standalone story so you'll be fine.

Start with VIII if you've never played the series. I tried starting with VII and everyone told me to go with VIII instead. VIII picks up much quicker.

Dragon Quest VIII is perfect. It's a 60ish hour story which is exciting and fun literally the entire time. Huge world to explore if you're into that (one of the only real open world games on the 3DS that I can think of), but you don't need to wander around aimlessly if you don't want to.
You don't need to have played any other Dragon Quest game to play VIII, and I would definitely recommend starting with it instead of VII.

If you have a hacked 3DS, then definitely get the version of the game with the properly orchestrated soundtrack. It's so much better than the one North America got, it really sounds incredible.
