Well, I have owned a Xbox One for about three years now, mostly to play with friends, then this shit happened, and ideas on how to fix?
Sorry for shit photo taken on old tablet.
Xbox One issue
Don't really want to send it in to Microsoft right now.
Maybe throw it in the garbage where it belongs? Dunno man im just spitballin here.
is the fan not working?
It looks like it's blowing upwards instead of down.
It turns shuts down after about fifteen minutes
Ah fuck. Guess I'll send it in then.
What am I looking at OP?
That's just how they're made. Wasn't one of their best decisions. A single fan in a pull configuration trying to cool the cpu with the hot air from the motherboard.
The console is also 50% empty space, making it really obvious they were planning to resell slim versions from the beginning.
Which way the air moves is largely irrelevant, all that matters is it's moving.
>That's just how they're made
No it isn't. The fan sucks air in blowing it on to a radiator which dispenses the air on the copper filament pipes, since those pipes absorb the heat off the die and exhaust out the sides and back.
One look at the fan shows you it's blowing air out the top of the system. We knew this from teardowns before the console was even released.
>We knew this from teardowns before the console was even released
Irony since the teardowns reveal the exact opposite. Watch Ben Hicks one, he quite clearly states both current gen machines use the exact same heat disappation methods.
You're a fuckign retard. Xbone sucks air in, it'd make no sense to use a heat pipe system if you're goal is to exhaust upward directly above it. You're creating a heat bubble, heat pipe systems always suck in, blow out.
with all this talk of sucking and blowing, you'd think the topic at hand was user's mom
I can't change how they designed the system. It isn't ideal, but they didn't care.
>it'd make no sense to use a heat pipe system if you're goal is to exhaust upward directly above it
The purpose of a heat pipe it to more efficiently transfer the heat from the chip to a greater area of the heatsink. It is not directly involved in air cooling itself. Whether you suck or blow for a heat pipe configuration doesn't matter, all that matters is that air cooler than the heat sink is being moved across it by some mechanism, i.e. a fan either sucking or blowing.
Oh damn, you're right. My bad.
why dont you sad sad patheitc cunts just buy pcs
fucking xbox, 2017, are you serious
It's more efficient to pull cool air through it though, instead of drawing it off the motherboard. But when you have a single fan in a case that large, there's not a lot you can do. They reversed it for the slim though, showing they knew it was a problem.
Just checked. It's actually still the same in the slim. Oh well.
>lots of empty space means they were planning on selling slim versions in the future
what is wrong with your brain?
The ambient air temperature in the general area of the CPU fan is going to be more or less the same, above or below is not going to see a huge difference. If you want to make sure your CPU fan is pulling in cool air then look to the intake and exhaust for the case and make sure air is flowing through well enough in order to maintain an appropriate case temperature, not whether the CPU fan is sucking or blowing.
The empty space is so make sure they don't overheat like the 360s did since the xbone was designed as a device that is always on doing something at all times no matter if it was games, regular tv or streaming
If the Xbone is just turning of then it's most likely overheating. Which means it's probably a problem with the fan or heat sink.
I don't know if it's possible on an Xbone but the fix for this is to take the heat sink and fan off, clean them then put reseat them.
If that doesn't work then it could be the fan is dying. Not sure how you can check this on a console either.
If none of the above works then it is a more serious problem and the only fix for this would be to replace the faulty part, which is either the CPU or motherboard.
Like I said, I don't know how much of this is possible but at least clean it and if you have one point a desk fan at it. If that doesn't help and you can't do any of the above you'll need a professional to look at it.
