Is there any way I can possibly permanently fuck my character over, or can I freely do whatever I want?

you can pretty much freely do whatever you want
stat resets cost almost nothing in terms of ingame currency and you can change your "class" just by switching your weapon

I couldn't wait for SB any longer so I bought a fencing epee and a Magic starting set. I figured I'd get myself a headstart. Just did my first duty with an RPer. What an experience. Was fully in character during the entire thing and had often comments about the flora and fauna of the dungeon and whatnot.

These fucking people. How do they even do it? Is severe autism required for such endeavors?

I've had so many bad ex runs lately it's depressing and sad. When I heal I get tanks that never use any defensive cds, when I tank get healers that don't dps.
And there have been some dps running with l148 armor and weapon and high level accessories, but that's more in 60 roulette.

I'm stuck on the crystal sands phase. These sands are brutal to get.

Worst part is that I'm only doing relic for ___________________________glamour

Farm Amber-Encased Vilekins, get ink and mist using poetics, purchase moonstones using seals and do beast tribes every day for the Unidentifiable stuff? Should net you like 3-4 a day at least.

For crafting? It really doesn't. You can get 60 in a day or two if you know what you're doing.

Gathering in this game has to be the most boring thing ever. I have a feeling that every level 60 gatherer used a botting program or has autism.

Crafting is fun. Gathering is the worst thing ever. Especially leveling gathering jobs made me want to quit this game.

Every day at 9pm I checked the levelist turn in page. Then I gather 10 hq of min and btn and deliver it. It takes like 15 min.
I have no idea how to gather at higher levels

They probably noticed that Anima was way too easy compared to Relic, so they decided to add an actual grindwall to make this piece of content last longer. Also Crystal Sands giving "new life" to old trash on market.

as to why NPCs don't have priority in loading over character models I'll never understand

It's worse in this game in particular because you don't play just one job. Creating a character just for one job is the greatest waste of time you could do, unless it was for RP, but the RP in this game is exclusively ERP and awful.

I've actually heard people speak against this saying it won't do anything and will just stop legitimate players from playing

There's literally no way to fuck up your character in a way that makes them unusable unless you're intentionally using gear with wrong stats but that's it

I thought the dravanian robe wouldn't work with anything other than the set's hat because no dye matched the tone of red, but it turned out that general purpose dark red dye is just the right color. I wish the sharlayan healer set had a matching dye, too.

I play hyur since I started playing XIV but I have dozen of lizards saved in my folder, pointless attempts to find the "perfect" lizard and make sure that I will never have to use another fantasia again after I use my free one.
I still create new ones and recreate old ones from time to time (and remember that shit is impossible because of the there is no way to choose face and horns separately, fuck you YoshiP). I just want a cute himecut grill with green eyes, but even if they gave us a new all-races himecut style I know that it would look terrible on my non-nippon boringlander.

Hell no. Your abilities won't queue up if you make macros and you'll end up losing dps. The only macro I use on smn is
/ac "Shadow Flare"
Which puts the shadowflare right under your target without having to manually place it. And even then, I still hav non macro'd shadowflare on my hotbar.

Redditors are going to tell you to watch Ethys Asher who is the VaatiVidya of XIV. He just makes up bullshit headcanons and ignores parts of the lore that disagree with him. You don't need to know anything about previous FF games to understand XIV because they're all in self-contained universes.

I had alt characters for a while. With the intention of getting them to 60 so I could get more weekly wondrous tails stuff, jew the market with specialists, etc. Leveling them to 60 and doing the MSQ all over again is a pain in the ass though. Just deleted them all so I could get the cheaper sub.

Just buy the lore book or hunt down the scans
