Anyone here still interested in Uka Lele?
Does it look like it's gonna be good or does it look like shit?

bump
well i bought it way back when for cheap so as long as I get a couple hours out of it i'll be satisfied
it's looking decent so far i think
8.8 maybe?
I think most of us are just waiting for it to release next month.
I already bought it but there's not much to talk about.
looks surprisingly good, people are bitching about it being a dead wasteland without enemies/interesting things like Banjo Tooie, but it seems to have the level design of tooie (massive) while trying to blend in the enemy ratio that kazooie had.
At the end of the day Kewpie Jazzy AKA FurFun will be the better game in the end so why even buy this piece of shit pandering shitty game?
The more I see it, the less I want to play it
I just feel like it doesn't have that much polish, they should delay it again to give it more oomph
no physical Switch release, no buy
>He want's to play the worst version
It's the best 3D platforming collect-a-thon we'll get for a long time. You either like those games or you hate them.
There's some untalented indie devs trying to pathetically ride the success already, but thankfully they're mostly failing. There was also A Hat In Time which is now rendered completely irrelevant because it's development team has been outclassed by the devs who inspired the game.
RIP A Hat In Time, should have released sooner.
>want's
>want is
...
>playing it on anything but a Nintendo console
Just wouldn't feel right
W O W, found the non spanish speaker who doesn't understand how based spic pewdiepie has made and controls this entire game making it amazing by proxy.
I'm liking the idea of having it portably on the Switch, even if only for 3-4 hours at a time, so I'm probably just going to wait and see how people like it when it launches before deciding if I'll get it or not.
I probably will anyway though. 3D platformers are my favorite genre and seeing them not dead in any form excites me.
it looks good. although i prefer 8 smaller levels instead of 4 large levels
I'm excited to pick it up on PC, i'm a huge fan of Banjo Kazooie, not so much Tooie so we'll see how it goes
I laughed when I first saw Trowser.
It looks just ok. The environments are way too fucking big to the point it feels like it's just a whole lot of nothing a lot of the time, but otherwise I can't see many issues outside of subjective nitpicks
I gave 110 dollarydoos, I should be one to worry the most
The more i saw of it the less i got interested. At $40 they can kiss my ass. Ill wait till its $10 on xbone, shouldn't be any longer past august
there is 5 big level and with the overworld its 6
Why would the box art have Shitty polygonal artwork? They never did that back in the day.
>try to make low poly low texture models
>renders as high res with AA
This, if they wanted to be authentic about it, they'd use late 90's pre-rendered computer CG.
This
>putting a drop shadow on yooka so he stands out from the green grass behind him
How can you be this shit at color design? Why are you putting your green character on green grass?
only gonna purchase it if there's a physical Switch release.
>looks surprisingly good
>so why even buy this piece of shit pandering shitty game?
huh?
I was interested, then I realized Tooie exists and that they might try to make a gane like that. Patiently waiting.
Only it they make a Switch physical version.
That's not the official box art, it's some fan made thing. Look at the tumblr url to the left of the image.
nope. BOTW took the wind out of its sails. Also it seems like it will be incredibly easy and boring.
>That kid who bought it on Xbox One when Rare employees literally escaped from them just so they make this game
This fucking guy.
We've barely seen him and I already love him. Extra Honeycomb Piece cane is a tasteful touch.
>"Everyone just thought it was really funny an idea of like a bee...in a suit...who talked in buzz words. That was the key, everyone loved that pun. And then that was it, that was the moment then, it had to be a bee in a suit, who talked in buzz words."
oh really? fuck I tought it was going to released to the nintendo 64
This guy's quite endearing as well, just based on the one trailer we've seen with him.
>FurFun
>Not pandering
Him is actually the only think I don't like about this game. It looks like generic dreamowrks villian
I agree, but the design grew on me and he his rather entertaining personality makes up for any design quirks.
...
what qualifies as a generic dreamworks villian?
Dream Works had some badass villains
>talks in buzzwords
HHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I swear to christ the guys at Playtonic are fucking geniuses when it comes to wordplay
I was hyped back when it was announced but it looks pretty... bland? Shit? We'll see I suppose.
it doesn't look as good as banjo kazooie, if that's what you are asking
>I swear to christ the guys at Playtonic are fucking geniuses when it comes to wordplay
See this guy?
His name's Planker.
The enemies look pretty boring and non-threatening. It seems like their ai is worse than the enemies in Tooie, maybe even worse than Kazooie, but I haven't seen the final product so they could have fixed a lot of that stuff. They are also probably too small.
The areas are large which isn't necessarily good or bad, my only concern is that the rolling ball move consumes stamina, so the large areas don't really complement that sort of design. The Talon-Trot was an increase in mobility/speed like the new rolling move, but they balanced it in a more organic way by having the player sacrifice their control while in midair. In my mind, level design is the best way to balance moves like the Talon-Trot by allowing players with mastery of the mechanics to perform riskier maneuvers.
Game also seems to have a lack of polish, but then again the final product hasn't come out.
i feel the same
>At the end of the day Kewpie Jazzy AKA FurFun will be the better game in the end
sure it will dalas.
Kirkhope makes some cute music, but it's a bit silly treating it like something that belongs on vinyl.
All the footage that has been shown is from the final product, the game went gold in January
youtube.com
This shit belongs on a vinyl
>platformers die out
>people spend years wondering if Rare will ever have an overhaul and make excellent games again
>team of veteran game developers band together to make the spiritual successor Banjo deserved, not just to make cash but out of love for the work and legacy
>furfags IMMEDIATELY copy, literally reskin the work that the guys made, because it's their god-given right to half-ass a bootleg with their cat self-insert in someone else's passion project
>this is why we can't have nice things
I didn't have a seething hatred for furries until this shit happened. that Cease & Desist cannot come soon enough. And I hope they sue the everliving hell out of anyone involved in that garbage, so they can't ever humor the thought of starting another project like this again
That's a bit of a shame, the environments all look nice but I think they dropped the ball with interface and some of the character designs. Nostalgia is nice, but you can create something that captures the whimsical charm of the games that inspired Uka-Lele without having it look like you were restricted to the same limitations of that time.
I hoped that Yooka would use his chameleon powers to change color to aesthestically match the level he's in. Oh well.
I'm still looking forward to it, but more than anything, I really just wanna hear the soundtrack. Bringing Grant Kirkhope and David Wise together can only cause good things.
