Is this the best movie game ever made?
>that bit in the cave with tall grass and there's spiders and velociraptors and the music is that plucky violin track
fuck
FUCK
>those giant fucking centipedes
I'd put The Godfather very high up there too
that bit where you have spear only, it's on the bottom of a canyon or something like that and all you have is the tiny buildings to light the spear with and there's goddamn raptors everywhere
scariest shit
This game was pure nightmare fuel sometimes, let's not fuck around
Godzilla destroy all monsters melee, save the earth, and unleashed, were all better kaiju games
Riddick
Ubisoft have been recyling this game for years. Even fucking Breath of the Wild is based to some extent on this game.
What other ubisoft games are like king kong?
This game is better than the movie and definitely better paced.
Running away from T-rex was really fuckin scary.
Every Far Cry game since Far Cry 2. BotW is largely based on Far Cry 3.
King Kong had fire that spread, AI that was scared of fire, AI that would eat smaller AI so you could manipulate enemies into fighting each other, and so on.
2005-2006 was full of immersive FPS games where your characters checked their bullets instead of having an onscreen HUD and stuff like that.
Dark Corners of the Earth.
Condemned.
King Kong.
I wish King Kong had Condemned's bullet checking animation.
Played this game solely to get 1000gs on Xbox 360.
>That opening sequence where the chick you're with has to climb up a cliff to open a locked gate or someshit
>she keeps climbing
>lol wtf she's floating
>she ends up climbing so high she becomes a speck on my screen
I still laugh thinking about it
360 version has a huge visual upgrade, but some strange bugs not present in the 7th gen versions. The bigger problem is King Kong has the worst FOV in FPS history. It makes me dizzy, and I'm usually tolerant of low FOVs. Fortunately, the Gamer's Edition for PC has an FOV+mouse fix that lets you adjust the FOV multiplier. I set it to 1.5 and the game is actually gud.
wait there's a PC version? are you shitting me? How is the port?
That's partial nitpicking but I can see the far cry comparisons. But, I kinda would rather have them copy the playing as kong part. Playing as jack was very well done for a license game but playing as kong was pretty damn fun
Speaking of the king kong game, for some reason while playing the pc version the mouse sensitivity is really fucking low, like i have to dash my mouse across the pad , is there anyway to change this?
What is the best way to play this, and most accessible? I'll try the Gamecube version via Dolphin but I have a feeling it isn't the best version.
This. The godfather was pure gold. First game ever that actually made me want to have a 100% completition
>wait there's a PC version? are you shitting me? How is the port?
There are two PC ports. Signature Edition and Gamer's Edition. Signature Edition will brick Windows 10, and is based on 6th gen console versions. Gamer's Edition is based on 360 version, but was only released digitally and you can only get it through piracy now. Has its own problems, but won't kill Windows.
Which PC version? This fix for the Gamer's Edition thirteenag.github.io
>ps2 king kong
Small time.
Thank you
>Signature Edition will brick Windows 10
What? How?
It uses Starforce. Possibly a particularly disagreeable version of Starforce. Windows will end up in a crash loop, and you'll have to roll back to previous restore point. None of the cracks for that version of the game actually remove Starforce.
>will brick Windows 10
It'll actually kill your OS?
where about could I find a download? First link on Google looks sketchy.
>have Windows 8
>was gonna try to do it either way
>same problem
At least I dodged a bullet
Quick, what did you guys think of Skull Island?
I thought it was pretty fucking great and addressed all my issues with Godzilla '14. I'm pretty excited to see where this Monsterverse ends up going
Well, your PC won't boot anymore until you go into recovery mode and restore from the last Windows restore point. That's as close to bricking as modern Windows gets.
it claims no seeders, but the trackers are probably all dead. DHT might find the seeders.
This game was infinitely better than the movie.
Also I have no fear of the ocean or sharks or any deep sea shit but the water related portions in this game were made of pants shitting terror and anxiety. Playing as Kong was cathartic as fuck too.
better than Godzilla 2014 by a little bit, even though I thought Godzilla 2014 was nothing spectacular maybe the end fight though
But I saw skull island right after I saw the original for the first time, fucked me up since the original was absolutely great since I ssaw it for the first time. Skull Island was probably 7.5/10 IMO
>You're on the fucking raft
>Bunch of raptors chasing you
>Suddenly RREEEEEEEEEE
>T-Rex out of fucking nowhere
>Rapidly hurling spears at it and it's barely flinching
>Raft breaks and you have to scramble your ass through shitty wooden fences to find a safe spot
>T-Rex keeps cutting you off at every corner
I'm making a video about it because it was so fucking bizarre. I didn't hate it, but just thought it was really odd and strange.
>the script
>the characters
>the scene with the gas mask and the sword
>the tonal inconsistency
This is what happens when the Chinese fund a movie.
Gamecube was the version I played when I was younger, it was very good
this all seems risky for an old game.
Yo this is comment is ignored but the godfather game is probably the best movie game of all time tied with King Kong maybe.
Better than GTA at the time honest to god
>Played the game first
>Really fucking loved that black guy character, don't remember his name but he was a cool leader, levelheaded, had some flaws but overall was just looking out for everyone
>Often puts himself in danger to save you
>Helps you find guns and shit
>Dies a sad pointless death near the end, really fucking dramatic
>Watch the movie
>He dies by getting punched by Kong in a fast paced action scene and never does anything of importance
Was at least the best investment on original xbox, hacking expliot ftw.
I went intl it to see Kong fighting things, and that's exactly what I got. The WWII soldier was entertaining, and Jackson was cool.
The original, as in the 1933 one?
>>He dies by getting punched by Kong in a fast paced action scene and never does anything of importance
He died so that Jamie Bell might live to star in Jumper.
yeah the 1933 one
This game is awesome, even if it has some flaws. My favorite Godzilla game alongside UnWiished.
Riddick, Godfather, Scarface, Punisher, and Wolverine are all really good movie based games.
I really like how wandering around town with an automatic shotgun really made me feel part of the universe
I saw this for like $15 in the store brand new. Is it actually fun?
PC. The version called Gamer's Edition
>you now realize that all of King Kong's American-made movies take place in either 1933 or during the 70's
Well, the Gamecube version ain't bad. Part of the problem with King Kong is the remastered version is a mixed bag. Overall better visuals, but more bugs and Kong's face is less... expressive in cutscenes. He looks more like a toy.
>Wolverine
Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
>UnWiished
>Wii
>get PTSD from all the glitches of Soft locking, Hard Locking the game
The scariest glitch I encountered of the Wii version of Unleashed was I was playing versus and I was Mothra starting out in the cocoon state. What normally happens to transform is a small cutscene plays which transforms Mothra to her regular state from her cocoon, and I assume loads the model. But I did the Transformation, it froze the game in the middle of it, screeching noise along of course, and then faded to black for 3 minutes, and went back to the HOME screen like if I never started the game. Pretty spooky.
Just get the PC version it runs fine but with a few bugs.
Just map Kongs action button to mouse wheel because for some reason the sensitivity of the little QTE's Kong must do to open doors/pathways is mapped to framerate. It's one of the only shit parts of the game and on modern systems you have to press the button really fast, so just do a mouse wheel flick and it should be much easier.
there were some really big problems with bizarre tonal shifts but above all else I appreciated how we finally have a King Kong movie where he doesn't die at the end, and in fact they went through special effort to show the audience this Kong can't get shot down by humans anymore.
If you're looking for an Atari trilogy-style fighting game, this isn't it. But if you like smashing cities, battling other monsters in ways similar to in the films while crushing the military's superweapons, and tons of nods and homages to all things Godzilla, then you'll enjoy it.
And playing as Legendary Godzilla is fun as fuck.
Weird. I never experienced any problems with my copy.
I have never had any sort of glitch in like 200 hours of playing unwiished
>Just map Kongs action button to mouse wheel because for some reason the sensitivity of the little QTE's Kong must do to open doors/pathways is mapped to framerate.
The widescreen mod includes a 60fps framerate cap. There's one section that crashes for some people unless you cap to 40fps.
really? I remember watching some sort of review before I got the game saying there are bugs and glitches so prepare for it.
War of the Monsters
is that better than destroy all monsters melee?
Not comparable. They're incredibly different types of games
Does they really teasered Mothra and King Ghidorah at the end? What about Kong special abilityes? Nothing? Or regeneration and "monkey muscule" structure?
>Does they
>teasered
>abilityes
You gotta retake that english class, Pajeet
It's not a fighting game per se, so they're not really comparable. If you're Godzilla or another "evil" monster you smash shit up, absorb G-ceels to become bigger and stronger, and fight other monsters and the Super-X warships and the Gotengo. If you're a "good" monster you have to defeat evil monsters while keeping the city protected. But it does have quite a few playable monsters and some fun modes.
Yes they show cave paintings from ancient times of Rodan Mothra Godzilla and Ghidorah and them fighting
Kong has no special powers beyond the usual monkey business and high intelligence, also he knows how to use weapons like a tree as a baseball bat
I don't even see jkeyboard in dark
Or a propeller as that one weapon from Rygar
I do like that they made him a merging of the various Kong designs, including the 1976 Kong's erect stance so that he'd be able to interact with Godzilla more easily.
Then turn on the lights you fucking caveman
well according to the director their biggest intent was to go back to 1933 version which was more like it's own sub-species of giant ape rather than a literal giant gorilla like Jackson's
You ask me it was really unimaginative of PJ to take that motion capture technology and just copy paste a silverback and blow him up to huge size instead of creating a more unique ape creature
I dunno, I liked that Jackson Kong was a literal gorilla. And Serkis was able to inject a lot of personality and emotion into his body language.
they're completely different games, but DASM is better IMO
TWO MAGAZINES ON BACKUP
Is the Xbox 360 ver any good?
I know most people cite the GCN game as the best.
Spiderman 2, nigga.
This game was great.
360 version has heavily remastered graphics. More bugs.
Old Kong movie was brutal. Post webm where he kills human
PC port of the 360 version with the bug fixes and patches mentioned in this thread is the best.
I remember this one, had fun
>i still remember the scene where he mistakes the woman sleeping as Ann and then drops her to her death because of it
pretty gruesome for 1933
That's why I think Jackson fucked up pushing TOO hard for Kong to be sympathetic.
In the original movie Ann hated him and wanted to get away and was relieved when his ass got shot down, he was a brutal beast on a rampage but in 2005 she legit falls in love with him, that fucking ice skating scene man what the fuck was that about
The original King Kong movie was pretty dope honestly. I really loved that when I was a kid.
The warriors
I watched it fully for the first time a few days ago having only seen bits and pieces over the years, as massive Godzilla fan I've always dismissed it as inferior but it really is a very well made and entertaining movie, also efficient as fuck with no bullshit filler and a great pace. That really is a legit complaint against the 2005 version.
>holy shit a woman aaaahhhhh!
Watched it in a theater once for some film class. The part where Kong pounded the shit out of the T. Rex made half the audience gasp. I love that an 80 year old film still has that sort of power.
>where da white wimmen at
>they built a full-sized Kong head animatronic and a to-scale foot for the shots of him biting people and stomping people into the mud
Now that was awesome, ambitious, and brutal.
Once he starts snapping the jaw and you hear the cracking and the rex starts screeching repeatedly it gets really fucked up
tried to play recently and found it to be quite bad, the throwing spears mechanic was boring as sin
disppointing because I like most Michel Ancel games, a lot
Gees, so this, is what the human mind can come up with, when it's running on pure homosexuality.
Damn. Not even once.
What did you think of Far Cry: Primal? You can do the same spear throwing and setting spears on fire shit, but now it's open world and there's so much forced busywork you'll want to kill yourself.
>the level where you're on the raft against the V-Rexes
perhaps you should try playing it today instead of relying on nostalgia, killing those centipedes and shit gets old
Haven't played it, no interest in Ubisoft open world games any longer
The ENTIRE problem with Jackson's movie is excess
Original Kong took place in the 1930's? Well MINE will spent 45+ minutes as a 1930's documentary where we see how all the characters ended up on the boat!
Original Kong fought a T-Rex? Oh yeah well MINE will fight THREE T-rexes, while holding the girl in his hand!
Original Kong had dinosaurs? Oh yeah well MINE will have a huge dinosaur stampede where the characters running away are always a hair's bredth away from being stepped on but never seem like they're in danger!
Original Kong had a spider pit that was cut? Oh yeah well MINE has a bug pit where a giant cut penis eats Andy Serkis!
These bastards are so annoying as either Jack or Kong. I honestly prefer fighting the Vastasaurus rexes over these bat fucks.
>perhaps you should try playing it today
I played it fairly recently for the first time though. It was an amazing game from start to finish.
How the hell can it "get old" when the game is only like 8-9 hours long anyways and is pretty linear. Every encounter was fairy unique or only done 2-3 times max.
I seriously think you are suffering from depression or something and am unable to enjoy things. The games pacing was perfect, there was no padding or repetitiveness at all. In fact I wouldn't have even minded a few more fights here and there.
