too much action focus

Linear as hell and too much pew pew pew.

i enjoyed it

you have shit taste

what went wrong is that it just fucking sucked

>devs thought hitman fan base has grown out of video games
>let's make a normie game then
>"wtf is this shit"
>oups maybe they're not gone after all
>make HITMAN

they wanted the CoD audience

>Sneakman: Conviction

fpbp

fifth post best post?

you know in music when something is "over produced"? I feel like this is the same for this game. they tried too much stuff on a simple working formula/

I really think that they should remake the assassinations from this game in 2016's engine.

The assassinations from Absolution are canon even if the story is not.

>the tagging quick kill stuff
>levels broken up in segments and progressing in a linear fashion
>devs tried to make a cringe plotline that makes no sense in the grand scheme of things
>who are the people you are even killing half the time
>the worst HUD and score system of all time
>fucking hitman vision mode and putting hand over your face

rant end

>who are the people you are even killing
This.

Who is the King of Chinatown and why are the police guarding him? If it was any other Hitman, we'd get a briefing to explain these things.

You know how much fun it is to move around the maps freely and choose which target to kill 1st?
Yeah well fuck you do it our way, and when you kill your target you are locked off from that previous area.

it doesn't take a god damn sleuth to figure out why making a hitman game into action-focused tarantino-esque tripe where 90% of the leves are literally "escape from the cops" sucked dick.

It's a fun game, just not a hitman game.

They forgot they were making a hitman sequel and made a poor splinter cell sequel instead

Everything.

It missed absolutely EVERYTHING that made Hitman a good series.

Hitman games are defined by...

>wide sandbox levels filled with experimentation and various ways of navigating it
>many ways of killing people that are not signposted
>elaborate accident kills
>atmospheric Kyd soundtrack
>dark plot
>at least some focus on the criminal underworld

With Absolution all the levels were tiny and shit, the visuals were bloomified and saturated with effects, all the villains were nonsensical rednecks and the music was generic shite.

2012 was possibly the worst year for vidya in the last decade because of this, Halo 4 and Assassin's Creed 3 all coming out in the same week. What a shit show.

Nope. It's a shit game.

Why was SC: Conviction a bad Splinter Cell game?

Zero direction of the entire team of what they were actually willing to make. They almost made Max Payne: Hitman Edition before Rockstar put out Max Payne 3 and the idea of Hitman going full Max Payne was thankfully scrapped.

In the end, what we got was a good game, but a not very Hitman game, but it could have been far worse looking at the early concept pictures and ideas.

not to defend absolution but this is clearly on easy mode. on normal and up, the instinct is depleted a lot faster, so he wouldn't have been able to mark so many people.

Nothing.

The game was a masterpiece.

>370809258
[You]s must be earned

>able to mark so many people.

Why is this shite even acceptable at all?
>Mom, look mom, the game is aiming and shooting for me. Look mom.

Fuck off with this modern game design crap

yawn

...

it was okay when Read Dead Redemption did it. :^)

>make HITMAN
>top reviews are all still negative anyway
:^)

Everything. Even the devs admitted it and apologized.

RDR is an extremely different game.

I didn't like the story or the characters. I just wanted to assassinate targets, not go on an action packed trip to bumfuck nowhere hiding in corn fields to save my ex fiance's daughter.

>Sup Forums refusing to acknowledge the majority opinion of a fantastic game, and still clinging on to their assblasted reviews cuz "muh blood money"

lol

jesus, that IGN review

>a majority liked it so it must be good lol
kys

>I buy my games according to paid off "opinions"
>those PR "reviews" say it's fantastic, so it is fantastic, because I can't think for myself and do not have my own opinion

t. cuck

I agree, they took a risk and it mostly paid off.

>90% steam reviews positive
>"just because a majority liked it doesn't mean it's good lol"

youtube.com/watch?v=u4Im7jh6Jh8

>I buy my games according to paid off "opinions"

the irony

>Play game on hard first run
>Requires you to use the "Tip your head down" meter to get past certain areas
>Non-regenerative

Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to have you become instantly suspicious because tipping your head down apparently makes you more stealthy. The game made me base strategies around this new meter and stupid fucking mechanic. I wasn't gonna play the game on normal and have my hand held just so I know what the fuck is going on during a 2nd run.

I actually played if for the first time two days ago. It feels far too linear and cinematic imo, the cutscenes are pretty boring and the voice acting sounds unconvincing and stiff. So far I have just gotten past the part where you reach the top of the hotel and the cowboy guy is one of the most cartoonish villains I've ever seen in a game
The gameplay is okay if not a bit too easy it's just that the story feels shoehorned and effortless

Hitman has always been a puzzle game above anything else. This turned game was more an action-shooter game with more "get to the end of the corridor" levels instead of "exploring and planning" levels.

five minutes later and I'm still trying to figure out what that DToid review means.

Which is the best hitman game and why is it Codename 47?

>it's shit because it wasn't a good "Hitman" game

this argument really needs to stop

I can only remember 2 levels Chinatown and the Lenny one as having actual free roam, every other mission was horribly linear which didn't suit Hitman at all.

The game added literal magic... Hitman never needed magic. The only magic I can think of in prior games was the, get 3 headshots before you die for a second chance, mechanic.

>A Hitman game is bad because its not a good Hitman game
Yes and.

That one's even worse than turdsolution

Should I get Hitman 2016 on PS4?

I agree that the animations in 2016 could be better, but there's no way that Absolution is better.

absolution has better optimization too

The entirety of the Sapienza level alone shits all over the entire Absolution game. Glad IOI woke the fuck up after this turd. They had a rough start with 2016 but I guess it's hard when Squeennix doesn't have faith in your project anymore, but now they are doing good stuff with HITMAN

>gay guize look at me i have adopted a less popular opinion and am very cool because of it even if it is objectively wrong :D
