Witcher 3

Something else, please.

Skyrim with mods.

Whatever is the fotm survival sandbox action atm. Think it's Conan exiles

BotW

>fotm
Not for PC.
Already have it, and it's boring.

Why the fuck won't they patch the beta?

idk but that looks boring as shit.
I'm getting real tired of European RPGs where it's just "ahh look at this idyllic countryside with green grass and evergreen trees" That is so uninteresting that I could shit out a better setting than that. What about EYE?

>Already have it, and it's boring.
Than you don´t like open world. (the most people don´t realize this)
Try Styx, Dark Souls 2&3 or/and Diablo 3

I like it, it's something new, and the world actually looks realistic, unlike Oblivion or Witcher 3.
>EYE
What's that?

Wasn't the beta a huge clusterfuck that didn't run well on any setup?

Cyberpunk RPG. It's hard to get into and you'll probably want to watch some videos about it first, but it's pretty fulfilling.

Yes and it still is. People struggle to keep 30fps even at 1080.

Forgot this shit even existed. Is it ever coming out or just vaporware?

Date is for later this year. Doubt they'll keep that though.

Any word when it's coming out and is there any hope that they will optimize it before launch?

Supposedly later this year. They said they won't patch the beta anymore but didn't really give a reason, most just assumed it's so they can just focus on the final game.

Ok cool I guess. I prefer they take their time than release a rushed piece of shit.

Btw, is the beta actually fun to play?

No, I mean, the world is boring in Skyrim, and no amount of mods can fix that.

Not really, It has few great missions, and that's it.

>is the beta actually fun to play?
No. Runs like shit at pretty much any res. Just use it for screenshots.

>pc rpg

>rpg

>Playing Game

lel

Bummer. It looked somewhat promising from the videos but if it's not fun to play, then I'm not really intested.

The lead dev has been trying to roast other big open world games on twitter from time to time and for his sake I wish this game ends up being good.

What did he mean by this?
>No amount of mods can fix that
So you're saying that if modders made everything you wanted in a game, you wouldn't want that?

The game could be fun. It's just that the beta runs so horribly that it's a pain to play.

What about this?

Game?

What?

Are there any modern open world RPGs without waypoints and quest markers?

KotOR remake

>KotOR remake
When the fuck did that happen?

I wish.
I'm saying that Skyrim's world can't be fixed by mods.

I get that Skyrim may not be the game you want and even with all the mods it has, you may not like any of them but how can you be so stupid as to say "No amount of video game design can yield a game I want" Modders could theoretically change everything about skyrim and turn it into something completely different and exactly what you want in a world/game. Saying "no amount of mods can fix that" is stupid. Say that no current mods have fixed it at least, if that's what you believe.

It's fan made, so there's a chance it won't even come out.

It can be fixed by mods though.
See

I mean the Skyrim's engine couldn't handle that.
I've seen some great world mods, but they are mostly dead.

Stop posting this on every RPG thread.
It is a great game, but this video made by a fucktard is annoying.

Please, recommend me some Skyrim world mods that you think are good.

it's not just a video about gothic but a video about how shitty modern open worlds are and an example of how an open world can be made if the devs weren't incompetent and lazy

bannerlord.

Yeah, I like how he compared how Gothic 2 and Witcher 3 handle quests.

the worst part is that there's so many rich cultures they could adapt into vidya but they always go with the boring as shit Tolkien-inspired trite,

When is it coming out?

>idyllic countryside with green grass and evergreen trees
>Tolkien-inspired trite

Should I try Gothic and Morrowind if I didn't like Oblivion, Skyrim, or Witcher 3?

By the time I got into PC gaming open world games already went to shit, but I really enjoyed Breath of the Wild since you actually had to read the NPCs directions.

I haven't tried going back and playing any older ones... I didn't even know they didn't have quest makers, tbqh.

in the beginning he said that in a garbage way and it applies to all modern open world games, including TW3

YES

yes

Yeah, I know, I hate how in Witcher 3 there's so much hand holding. You can't even do a basic tracking quest without "witcher senses".

Man, I hate that game.

Some parts were cool. I remember there is like a castle on a little island with the drawbridge up that was really awesome. You had to jump in the water and find a little underwater cave that went up inside so you could lower the drawbridge.

Too bad 95% of the ?s on the map are bullshit and the sidequests, while having good writing, are boring as fuck.

I see no one mentioned Fallout 4.

Because standard fantasy sells far more copies and is easier to do.

I want an open world RPG that feels like an epic, where you have to go from point A to B with your party and have to climb mountains, and other life threatening task, without putting so much emphasis on combat.

Basically, a real tabletop RPG to PC implementation.

Are there any mods that remove this, and make Witcher 3 a real RPG, and actually fun to play?

> an example of how an open world can be made if the devs weren't incompetent and lazy

You're delusional if you think the devs aren't making games like Morrowind or Goithic because they don't have the skills. They're CHOOSING to not make them.

Ok, now try to figure out how to make that fun.

Deus Ex but not as good, ~30 player coop and a plot that's difficult to grasp after 3 full playthroughs. If you like weird shit or you really like deus ex try it, but don't expect too much. Goes on sale for 2$ several times a year.

For me it would be fun. I hate how in RPGs you have to fight every two minutes. I always enjoyed conversations and exploring more than combat, I hate it even more in today's RPGs, when there are basically no turn based role playing games.

>Not for PC.
>he doesn't know

Emulators? Besides, it doesn't look really compelling to me.

I'd try stuff from the dragon age series or shadow of Mordor they are both great open world games.

Is Dragon Age actually good? I don't like design choices in first one, it reminds me of Neverwinter Nights: dull. But is it really similar to BG II?

Unreal world (Roguelike)

I know of this game, and have it installed, but forget about it. Is it good? How's the learning curve?

The first dragon age is one of my favorite rpg ever there's a bunch of lore in the game and your actions effects the outcome of it. It has a really nice UI on the PC too you can pan the camera out in a over the head type view pause time and plan out your actions.

I'll try it. I'm glad it's on GOG now.

try Dragon Dogma

I didn't really like it.

Make sure you get the dlc its a lot of fun and gets pretty heavy in the lore of the gray wardens. Oh and the mage origin is the worst In my opinion about all the origins that you can pick from.

Open world RPGs are shit. We've all spent so much time exploring the same woods, ruins, dungeons, castles, mountain tops with beautiful vistas and caves. We all know what they look like. We all know that there is probably going to sit a chest filled with random treasures, crafting materials and marginally better gear. Seen it a thousand times in a thousand games and i'm sick of it.

So i'd trade an open world sandbox games that, theoretically, offers me 100s of hours of game time for a 50 hours well-crafted and paced story driven and character focused RPG that actually molds the story around my choices and in dialogue and actions.

Yeah, I know, but right now I'm looking for an "adventure" type of RPG, and story driven RPGs are usually limited in that area.

>dragon age
>open world

the fuck kind of drugs are you on?

Gothic 2

Finish that Witcher 3 NG+ 100% run. I finished my regular 100% playthrough last june and i'm saving my 100% NG+ for a year or two down the line when it's going to feel somewhat fresh again.

Yes, I played it. But should replay it again.

The first one is a traditional rpg but the 3rd one is open world.

Dragon Age?

No, it's an open world. Just big maps with a lot to see but little to do(the game would have been a lot better if they actually had fleshed out quests dealing with the region).

If you don't really care about the conventional roleplaying elements (i.e. stats and a story), Call of Chernobyl fo CoP is a pretty fun sandbox to fuck around in. Factions, rank, quests, dungeons, etc.

Call of Misery if you don't mind some frustration/tedium. Recommend you play at least part of the first game in the series(Shadow of Chernobyl) before getting into CoC though.

that's quite the limited pool desu.

Oh yeah. I love S.T.A.L.K.E.R. And have played all three with all possible mod combinations, and CoM is my favourite.

[spoiler}bdsm and player slavery[/spoiler]mods make it fun
although, really hard to progress in the game

EYE is more like horde slaughter on fairly big open maps where they can just plop dynamic objectives; go here, defend this, kill that, with waves of monsters spawning around. its a source mod and not that deep as an RPG. you can go fast and get some cool skills eventually. it has a weird reputation of being obtuse, but thats just the translated writing, not the game mechanics. decent game but not really fitting the OP question.

and to answer your question, probably falloutNV/4 with 200 mods.

yeah i went there.

Or if every region was only a 10th of the final size but packed with characters, dialogue, combat and unique content.

Actual medieval times are kinda off-putting. Everything is so filthy. It looks great, don't get me wrong, but I guess I need some magic and superhuman heroes in my RPGs.

I replay New Vegas occasionally, but can't make myself play 4.

I actually can't stand fantasy RPGs anymore, or sci-fi, for that matter, so this is a breath of fresh air for me.

Gothic 1&2

Nothing has ever come to that tier of story & world design.
