I've started playing this game after Zelda and I have absolutely no idea how any of you could think this is better than Zelda. No consolewar bullshit or anything.

Believe it or not some people actually like an adult video game. Not everyone gets off on nostalgia.
How long into it are you? I thought it started out slow but really ramps up once you leave your village.
>I have absolutely no idea how any of you could think this is better than Zelda
It was just NeoGA/v/ chimping out
This is literally the only Zelda I've played. No nostalgia bias here.
Not OP but I left the village to look for the leader of the tribe or some shit. After I found her and got more sidequests, I just turned it off. No real reason why. I didn't feel compelled to continue and went on to play another game. I'll finish it at some point, I guess, but I'm honestly not that bothered not playing it.
About an hour or two in. The gameplay seems very clunky in comparison to Zelda honestly.
Still doesnt take away from the fact that the graphics looks very childish. I know its hard to understand because peole don't share the same opinion, but I literally have no interest in playing BOTW because it looks so cartoony.
Believe it or not some people actually like a fun video game. Not everyone gets off on banal gameplay.
Console wars here we come.
I liked Horizon, platted it though that isn't much of an accomplishment and now I'm hopeful for the expansion/sequel.
It is completely different game from BotW. The new Zelda is evolution of open world, it is the only sandbox game I have had any patience with, most of them are just tedious shit. Horizon is very traditional adventure game and the open world only serves as a framework for the missions because the exposition dumps and worldbuilding would be impossible in completely linear game.
Zelda is about the gameplay
HZD makes you watch 30 minute info dumps
Its almost as if *gasp* different people have different tastes! :O
Played both too. Neither are great, decent games but overrated as fuck due to console war BS. I would give Zelda a better rating because Horizon is more repetitive.
Are you serious? That's a really sad reason to not play a game. Do you just feel so insecure that you won't allow yourself to play a video game because it looks like a video game?
>I literally have no interest in playing [Insert Good Game here] because [Insert Non-gameplay here]
Yeah, it's a Sony thread
Zelda looks like a cartoon. Horizon looks like a video game.
Okay you're just shitposting now. Here's your (you) now leave.
Sup Forums is now Sony territory. Of course they will praise Horizon and Bash Zelda at every opportunity they get. It's in their nature.
Really? I've been playing both back to back, mainly zelda right now cause i just platnium horizon and i like the combat in horizon so much more.
It's more care free mechanically but also a lot more challenging, enemies don't really have a set sequence like in zelda, they just have a set of attacks and animations and do them in no specific order which is what i like.
Horizon also has better animations, and what not, when you run towards a ledge or something you move into an animation that gets you over it seemlesly with no extra button pressing and little shit like that, i should probably make a webm when i do my next playthrough
I bet he just eats you up knowing that there are some people who don't like the best game ever made lol. You're the insecure one.
Sure it is
Basically this.
Welcome to NeoGA/v/
>graphics look childish
God I hope you die, you are the cancer killing video games.
Yes, you.
The combat feels a bit iffy in Horizon if I'm to be honest. It's not the worst thing I've played but I can honestly say I prefer Zelda's, even if it is a bit lacking.
Also I wouldn't really say Horizon has better animations than Zelda. I find myself teleporting to enemies and places I can climb to a lot and it's really jarring.
The fact that this two games are constantly being compared is dumb enough. From what ive played of HZD (my own ps4) and BOTW (friend's Switch) the only thing resembling these two games are open world.
BOTW seems to focus more on exploration, while HZD seems more of an ARPG approach. I find i enter combat more in HZD, while BOTW approaches more puzzle solving. Im not sure if its just the point in the game which i was given. I also find combat in HZD to be more interesting and more worthwhile in its rewards, but of course thats mostly impartial as ive spent more time in HZD.
This. The "magnetic" snapping really ruins the feel of Horizon's melee combat for me.
>zelda has almost DOUBLE the amount of publicity as horizon zero dawn
LOL!
Fuck off. Go to a different thread for consolewar shit.
...
Thats hilarious, considering we cant have a hzd thread without it being shitposted to hell.
How much do you guys use melee?
I find that it knocks out scrappers and watchers but trying to heavy attack a sawtooth or shellwalker just means that you will lose 70% of your health and probably don't even get the hit off. Playing on very hard obviously.
Did you actually switch the user scores around?
Embarrassing to be honest
You do know this is backwards right?
I only use melee when they get too close to me.
Are user reviews trustworthy?
I think its magnetic mostly because you cant lock onto enemies. Combat's focus is in weapons, with melee being secondary.
No, but this isn't relevant to the thread. Go shitpost somewhere else.
>How much do you guys use melee?
I think if you upgrade one of the skills, you can knock down medium size enemies with heavy attack. Then go in for a easy critical once they are down.
Don't even bother trying to melee the heavy giant ones... you barely even make a dent.
seems legit
The combat is absolutely better than Breath of the Wild and is probably the second best combat in the whole genre behind Dragon's Dogma. The game itself is polished up and down to a T as well. plus it has awesome robot dinosaurs.
Breath of the Wild meanwhile has the worst combat of any 3D Zelda hands down, the game is only enjoyable because of the puzzle elements and because the game doesn't waste 15 hours on story and tutorials like TP and SS did.
that's beside the point retard (even if I did.) look I even gave you arrows to show you and you still missed it.
>User reviews
According to most "users", the only acceptable scores are either 10 or 0. So no, they're not reliable. But neither are "critic" scores because there's been evidence of paid reviewers before.
OBVIOUSLY THE BEST SCORE IS THE ONE YOU GIVE AFTER PLAYING THE DAMN GAME
Horizon is a better designed game while Zelda relies on "make your own adventure" style gameplay. This means you could spend hours doing menial tasks before you even start doing the divine beasts. Ultimately Zelda is a shallow game with little choice that appears deeper simply because it's open nature.
So a 9.5/10 for Zelda, then. That's what I would personally give it.
Compared to Horizon's repetitive missions? I'd rather make my own adventure than replay the same mission over and over again.
>There's nothing about the old Zeldas (besides basics of plot) in BOTW
>nostalgia
haha you are scrub
The robot look boring af. The only cool one i saw was the chicken one. All the other are bayformer zoid
>Horizon is a better designed game
Ok, I lol'd
>I only okay adult games for a mature patrician such as my self *tips fedora*
If graphic fidelity is the only thing you care about in games you're missing the point.
falseflagging shitposter alert
The missions have more depth both in characters and execution. Zelda quests arnt nearly as good
Is it just me or does Aloy look and act like an autist? Especially when she was younger.
>missions have more depth both in characters and execution
lol
>BotW combat
>good
I'm not even going to bring up the durability even though that's kind of awful, Breath of the Wild's combat controls are TERRIBLE. Check out how fucking awful the side jump and backflip are compared to Ocarina. The movement in combat is shit and the weapon movesets suck too. Combat is really unenjoyable.
LOL! Got a laugh from me. Good job.
> 900 Korok Seeds
> Make your own adventure
Pick one.
another nintenfag that didn't play the game
That´s fun. I started playing Zelda BotW after playing HZD and BotW it's pretty mediocre. How can you nintenbros defend it?
I've started playing this game after Horizon and I have absolutely no idea how any of you could think this is better than Horizon. No consolewar bullshit or anything.
Next time, think twice about making a shit thread with an opinion nobody asked you for.
I have a niece who is actually autistic and yes, she does. It hit home hard when they bully her, but thats just me.
l o l
Okay i remember seeing that in old footage but that snappy melee thing isn't in this game build.
I personally never really use melee but at worst you somethings auto lock in the general direction, but the whole teleporting thing is non-existent.
Also i agree, aiming with a controller made the combat feel a bit iffy but after a few hours in you'l;l get used to it.
A lot of enemies are huge so you shouldn't miss, weak points will be harder to hit of course but i assume that's the point.
>Completely optional gameplay element that you don't need to beat the main story
>Part of making your own adventure.
You're trying too hard
>BotW it's pretty mediocre
You're not even trying user.
>I have absolutely no idea how any of you could think this is better than Horizon.
By not being retarded for one
I love watching NeoGA/v/ chimpout over this game.
It's gold everytime.
But I did. The cutscenes are way too fucking long and drop a bunch of exposition.
If you're talking number horizon sold laps around zelda, despite it being a huge 30 year old franchise with million of pre-existing fans, and horizon being a brand new ip
No, I'm not. The only fucking thing to do in the shitty world of BOTW is find a shrine or a tree nigger under a rock.
Not having played any of the two, I had the same impression, namely, that these games have little in common. Where and why did comparing the two start?
>horizon sold laps around zelda
>in the UK
Why do you leave out the most important part?
Are we playing the same game? I've teleported to the watchers numerous times.
When it was revealed Horizon had Ubishit's "point of interest" system and by the numbers quests people kept point out the similarities between it and Far Cry Primal, in order to try and claim a higher "lineage" they tried shilling it as the TRUE successor to Zelda and that BotW will bomb.
The fallout has been fun to say the least.
BotW has too many puzzles and not enough combat sequences. Even the dungeons lack enemies and the fact weapons break means that you actively avoid fighting all together. Pretty boring design if you ask me.
Sony vs nintendo
Both open worlds
Released around the same time
Both getting good reviews
Its impossible for Sup Forums to resist
>HUR WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT VIDEO GAMEZ ON MUH VIDEO GAMEZ BOARD?!?!?! NO ONE ASKED FOR UR OPONIONS!!!!
Fuck off autist
>BotW has too many puzzles and not enough combat sequences
I love it when people who have obviously not played BotW post shit like this, always get a laugh
How could it be successor to Zelda when it has zero geargating and the progression is not tied to dungeons?
If anything Darksiders is successor to classic Zelda, or should I say clone.
Both are good games, don't see the problem anywhere
They tried paint Cauldrons as Zelda like dungeons and it would have deep rewarding RPG elements etcs
lol
>BotW has too many puzzles
Did you even play the game?
Horizon is not a good game.
Don't fall for the trolls. My Brother bought a PS4 and thus I followed a few playstation threads in the last month. They are as fucked by console war shit and general trolling as the ninety ones. Even the complaints are the same. I swear, Sup Forums went from being a vidya game board to becoming a game of trolling for some bitter cunts and assholes.
Who are they?
The people I talked about Horizon prerelease didn't know what to think of it, the trailers and other info were somewhat conflicting. Some thought it would be Farcry Primal, some thought it would be Monster Hunter and some thought it would be Tomb Raider. In the end it was bit of all and more.
No one said anything about Zelda.
Both are Inaccurate and unfair. Nintendo hasnt revealed its worlwide sales for zelda, but considering it sold 1.5 million switches, you can assume safely they sold 1.5 million zelda copies. Hzd as sold 2.5 million. Its not laps, but also considering it has a bigger install base and the switch's limited availability its not impressive either.
How about them facial animations that Andromeda is being chewed up for?
Why can't people just buy more than one console? Even if you only bought one, it really doesn't matter what you play on. No one will care unless you're a retard.
>No one said anything about Zelda.
Or find a treasure chest. Or find an ore deposits. Or do side quests. Or clear monster camps. Or tame horses. Or grind for equipment upgrades. Or do main quest.
Its explicitly bad. It's adequate. Its silly on some npcs and merchants. But its not "my face is tired" bad.
The Switch and BotW shitposting was massive but I don't think it had anything to do with HZD.
Killzone has approximately four fans, so where would all these passionate Guerrilla crawl from?
What are peole?
Most of the shitposting for zelda was its supposed bullshots, performance and about the switch itself. I noticed the zelda-horizon shitposting only started after both released and zelda got a 98.
I've said this for years. 4 Chan users hate what they can't afford, or can't have. I own both games, beat both games. They're both great games, period. Appreciate art for what it is. To me PERSONALLY zelda was more enjoyable. In the end, that's all that it is, personal opinions.
Some people can't stand the fact that something they don't own is better than something they've purchased at around the same time for the same amount. But who's to say what's better? ONLY YOU, AND IT ONLY MATTERS TO YOU. So stfu with this whole which is better, both games are critically acclaimed, which all that means is more people liked it than not.
Holy fuck this. I hate the animations in this game they are so jarring.
>Aloy's hair defies the laws of physics and movement
>As well as her hair being completely stiff in motion
>All the facial animations are just bad and offer little to no expression
>Can't fucking climb anything that isn't yellow
>When you try to climb up things Aloy does her retarded but at the same time hilariously awkward jump
>Aloy's running looks like she's carrying a bunch of equiment on her back which makes it seem like she has more weight on her than she actually does
>Voice Acting in this game is just completely unacceptable
>1.5 million switches, you can assume safely they sold 1.5 million zelda copies
uhhh, BOTW was released an existing console as well
if sales on the wii u were even close to equaling sales on the switch then it outsold horizon, if sales were greater then it really outsold horizon
Horizon is pretty good.
>combat
The only gripe I have is that you're given too many tools to deal with threats, so many encounters get trivialized. The freeze mechanic is pretty OP, as is tethering and corruption. Also loading 2-3 arrows into your bow, along with stacking mods can really give you such a huge burst at the start of a fight. Potions and healing items are abundant. All in all, applying prep and logic will make fights easy, even on hard+.
Besides that, the combat is really freaking satisfying with dodging, sliding, and mixing up your options. There's a lot of freedom there and it clicks.
>enemy types
Is another thing Horizon nails. It's pretty spooky fighting Stalkers, hearing Glinthawks crow, and seeing huge monsters in the distance (especially first encounters). Each one is dispatched differently and they feel unique.
You get all of that from even a basic grasp of the combat engine. There is always a shortcut to winning and exploiting it is always fun.
I don't get the "bad combat" complaint, because it's simply not true. If you find it bad, you're playing the game wrong somehow. If the protag were Link people would be going nuts over the "evolution of Zelda combat."
I like that Zelda combat is now Souls-lite with some flair, but I prefer the combat flow of prep-stealth-dispatch of Horizon. I like that parrying is a thing now, but I really despise the weapon juggling. It irks me way more than it should.
here come the nintenbros
oh shit wahoo
Horizon feels more Far Cry Primal than Zelda or Witcher
>If the protag were Link people would be going nuts over the "evolution of Zelda combat."
Simplistic magnetic snapping melee would be considered an evolution? By whom?
Did you even read my post? I PLAYED both games. And I think Zelda is the better game. I can post proof too, unless this is some stupid old copypasta.
