What's the consensus on this? I'm intrigued by the whole evil wins concept, but i'm not about to drop 45 bucks on shit

It inevitably turns into hero/anti-hero/player controlled villain rises up to big bad

Worth the pirate.

Neat. Too few rpgs explore this concept. Plus Obsidian gets my hopes up

Turns out Sup Forums was right by the "game is overrun by SJWs" thing, but good thing is you can kill everybody. Besides, it's up to you if it's SJW or not, and up to you whether. for example, you shank or throw someone off to a 300,000 foot fall. Wanna rain fire over your land, or go quake the damn thing, or do lightning storms that fuck you up and magnetize you and turn you into a living pincushion/glass sculpture/melt you from the inside? Choice is yours

Be warned. Its not as good as you'll want it to be.

How so? Is it the gameplay, or writing?

It's clearly written by their B team at best. It was the biggest disappointment of the year to me.

wasn't JE Sawyer not involved in Tyranny? He just worked on PoE

Incredibly disappointing game. A 4/10 at best. Shit characters, shit combat, shit roleplaying, there's really nothing good to it.

Go in with no hopes whatsoever and you'll still get disappointed. The Z-Team was in charge of this.

Ah well, guess I'll just wait 'till it's cheap. Still haven't finished pillars, i'll just play that

starts of really strong.

they dont deliver with the writting etc.

the setting is amazing like thats why people are mostly upset by it. it could be truely amazing with the tools they had they failed to push the story as good as the setting was able to handle.

That's a good idea, user. Pillars 1 is much better than Tyranny and Pillars 2 is coming out in a year.

>Too few rpgs explore this concept.
This is true. For instance, Tyranny does not explore the concept. The game is horribly unfocused and for a game about being evil, they really do a piss poor job about exploring being evil. The game doesn't really capitalize on anything actually- you're basically a mobile judge, yet you're rarely ever called to actually solve any conflicts. The game wants to present the factions as evil, yet both factions are very socially progressive to the point where they're almost female dominant, and the biggest moral dilemma is not about killing people or sexism or racism or anything like that, it's whether it's worthwhile to actively arm and fight alongside the same group of people who were seconds ago trying to kill you and constantly desert when given the chance.

Also the characters suck. The guy in charge of the fascists is an unintimidating senile old fuck, the guy in charge of the barbarian hordes is a really, really shitty teenage joker fanfiction. These are two of the most important characters in the game, most of the game revolves around them. And there's a character who's literally
>*teleports behind you*
>heh, nothin personel kiddo

Leave it up to conservatives to consistently get buttblasted when coming in contact with opposing world views.

There are people here would lose their shit when games have gay or black characters in fucking 2017.

Yeah, just take a look at Andromeda.

I just finished WM after getting it a year ago.

It's definitely far better and way better written than the base game. If they keep this up with PoE2 then it'll definitely be the BG2 successor everyone wants. My only issue is all the new companions look really boring; I wish they had Ziets directing creatively like he did for MotB, they're missing out on introducing on interesting companions. I'd kill for a Vithrack companion for example.

Abydon is awesome. I wish there was an option to be a Priest of Abydon.

Being SJW is the last of this game's myriad of issues. Really bad writing and boring plot is where it ends up ruining it.

Genuine criticism of the game as usual gets lost in a sea of shitposting about SJW devs and shit like that, this just allows the devs to just deflect the criticism as a whole.

>that hothead

Well, let's see if Bioware can deflect shit. Obsidian sure as shit didn't deflect anything with that writing and abysmally quick game. Didn't even get to square off with Kyros.

Awesome premise, good start and middle portion with a few hiccups, absolute dogshit epilogue.

I couldn't resist myself at the time.

It's feminist dogshit with a story that doesn't live up to its premise at all. Outside of maybe the first area, you're not some despotic conqueror doing truly evil things - you're a glorified bureaucrat settling squabbles between two fully retarded factions.

>Really bad writing
Only a fool would not see the brilliance of Tyranny's writing! *twirls staff* Mayhaps you need a little lesson in torture to understand the error of your erroneous ways? *throws staff into air and lets it spin before catching it again* Oh yes old boy, 'tis what we will do surely. *prods tip of staff against asshole and masturbates furiously*

The concept was so damn cool, and then we got the motherfucking joker.
Fuck everything about the Scarlet Chorus

>I'd kill for a Vithrack companion for example.

Yeah, well, you might actually have to do that if you want it to ever happen. Considering that out of 15 companions and 4 sidekicks every single one was a human with maybe one borderline case, I think we can conclude that Obsidian are just deeply in fucking love with plain human beans.

Bought the game, beat it in like 25 hours, haven't played since.

Did they release the ending yet?

Emphasis on "mother fucking" too. Fucking hell.

That last one really has to be seen to be believed. This is the quality of writing in Tyranny.

Dialogue starts from the beginning and ends about 1 minute in.

Much better than pillars.

Much worse than pillars.
