I just want to do something simple for me. Like little episodes of point and click puzzles and stupid minigames. But I know that "The Story will carry it!" is an awful excuse. I guess that I'm worried I'll get "too into it" and be upset when I waste the time.
There's a big comic alien universe out there Adams Lilo/Stitch style. You play a human who found herself abducted one year for reasons or another and now chases her dream of solving shitty trading post mysteries deep-space 9 style. Collecting random useless trivia will be a gameplay item to unlocking areas/advancing quests. I probably need combat but it needs to integrate cleanly into a P&C style.

I guess to continue on my rambling I should redo my artstyle for the project. I was running paper Mario sprite work because there was an interested Artist, but if I'm starting my skills from scratch maybe I should invest in something like low polygon models. I can program some killer fucking shaders at least.

You better pick an engine and work from there. Both big engines unity and unreal have excellent first party and third party tutorials about everything, unity is just a little bit more user friendly.

Yeah, I really loved the multiplayer part of Metroid Prime: Hunters for the NDS, so that's a big inspiration.
We're still far from release, so I'm not sure how we'll release it. We are simultaneously working on a PC port, too.

Everything in that pic I did last week.
The texturing is takes the most time by far, but I'm not sure exactly how many hours I spent on these ones in particular.

It's just hand-drawn vertex colours.
We have very little video memory to work with, so having manual control over all lights and shadows help me smooth out some bad transitions and create variation in repetitious tiles. It's also less taxing on the hardware, and we want to make sure the game runs at 60 FPS at all times (at least on the N3DS - The O3DS isn't officially supported, but we hope to make it run well on those too).
