There has to be a way to balance Sonic's fast gameplay while still having room for a few of his friends to be playable.

I'll just leave this here.
I'm the mossy rock user and even I think that Adventurefag must have been some kind of false flag. Nobody is that retarded, even ironically
Why do people save screenshots of uninteresting shitposts?
I just found it amusing how the average Adventurecuck was acting so smug and pretty much immediately went full retard after one harmless response.
>Take the Advance series mechanics and level design, preferably from 2.
>Make it 3D
>Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and [TWO OTHER PEOPLE] are playable depending on the game.
>Sonic can boost, Tails can fly, Knuckles can glide, and they all have access to Spindash.
Problem solved.
Also:What's going on here? I know it's an Adventure sperg out, but he should be estatic that there are playable friends in one game at least. I know I am.
Can I just say how happy I am that we're getting two games with different styles? I don't care much for 2D Sonic, but Mania looks like what a big part of the fanbase has been crying out for for ages. As for 3D, we're basically getting Generations 2. Sonic Team made (imo) the best 3D Sonic game with Generations and it seems that they've finally learned that they don't have to reinvent the wheel.
Good time to be a Sonic fan.
The name "Sonic Forces" along with the strong militaristic theming of the logo makes me think there's something we don't know about the game yet. If it's really just Generations-like levels and gameplay with no additional gimmicks I'll be very surprised.
2ch leaked there being a new hedgehog who will be introduced in this game. Apparently the hedgehog is from the same timeline as Silver.
>Good time to be a Sonic fan.
Absolutely, of course if you're not an Adventuresperg.
>Apparently the hedgehog is from the same timeline as Silver.
Well that doesn't bode well.
>2ch leaked
Stopped reading there
This honestly should be the formula from now on. 2D Sonic game with the Genesis style used to also promote the 3D style later in the year.
Sonic's eyelids are not blue.
I feel absolutely nothing from Forces, and I fucking loved Generations
Forces had the most bland reveal I think I've seen from a Sonic game. It didn't look bad, it didn't look good, it literally didn't rouse a response from me at all. Just "Oh"
I don't know what it is
Same, still feels pre-reveal.
They haven't really shown enough of it yet to get hyped over imo.
I'm kind of bothered that they haven't been doing this for the last decade in the first place. Okay, the Advance games weren't 1:1 in their similarities to the Genesis games, but they had a good thing going with having 3D main titles and then making 2D titles on the side. Then they merged them together so instead we'd just get dumbed down versions of the "real" games (see: Colors Wii/DS), and then they just scrapped it altogether for a long time.
It'd be a great setup. One game each year; 2D game, 3D game and a spinoff (racing, RPG, etc.). Maybe a year in between each three so that the franchise has room to breathe.
Have you seen the gameplay teaser? It was not a great reveal, but what matters is that the gameplay shown matches up with Generations.
I really feel like they shouldn't keep adding new characters and instead utilize existing ones. If this new character's play style crashes and burns (hopefully not), the "shitty friends" meme will never die. That's what scares me the most.
Another hedgehog? That's great.....
Sonic games will be shit until they recognize Adventure gameplay is the right way to go. I say adventure gameplay losely, what I propose is this:
Main playable characters:
-Sonic (a mixture between unleashed gameplay but less on rails)
-Tails (sa1 gameplay but finish the stage like sonic)
-Knuckles (sa1&2 gameplay but no emerald hunting, instead finish the stage like sonic)
Unlockable characters in 2P & mission mode:
-Shadow
-Espio
-Silver
-Amy
-Rouge
-Blaze
-Vector
-Charmy
-Metal Sonic
-Mighty
-Nack/Fang
-Bean
-Bark
-Ray
-Mighty
Levels:
-Full 3D stages with no 2D sections
-All of the levels are exactly the same for each character, but each character has different abilities that make playing the levels more fun/interesting. They are also all completely optional to play as to avoid autistic screeching.
-all levels are similar to unleashed day & night stages
Hub worlds:
-hub worlds are similar to unleashed and adventure the explorability of adventure with all of the fun of the unleashed side missions/minigames and enemies
Chao garden:
-the chao garden from sa2 with some upgrades and a new hub
-more chao minigames
Story:
[Insert story here]
Setting:
It will span across angel island and revisit all of the old mobius areas and also expand to the new land of robotropolis which is on the lower plate of mobius.
I really like the idea of a game that uses the environments from Sonic CD/Sonic the OVA in a 3D game to sort of wrap up the series in a full circle.
Source or gtfo
why do you keep copypasting this shit
It wasn't funny the first time
The only other "hedgehog" was mephiles and hes not even really a hedgehog is he?
Cautiously concerned about the unrevealed "third gameplay style" in Forces.
Boost is fun, Generations-style Classic is janky and inaccurate to the originals but I still enjoyed it, however they both still have flaws to them. It feels like they're just going back to the Adventure formula of "let's spread our resources thin instead of focusing them on making the best content possible". I'm very worried we'll end up with three half-baked gameplay modes and boost/classic won't have received any significant improvement at all over their Generations iterations. Worse still, I'm worried that the third gameplay style actually will be some dumbass shit, like the RTS meme or something.
I've altered it, and it isn't a joke classicfag. It's how things need to be done. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what I posted.
>[insert story here]
Where's the story?
>2ch
Yeah right Japan doesn't give a shit about Sonic.
Stay mad subhuman
>Calls people classicfags without provocation
>Thinks Sonic takes place on "Mobius" despite all the overwhelming evidence in the canon
>Obsessed with extra characters and Chao Gardens
No, I simply do not believe it. I like Classic, Adventure and Modern too, but there's no way you're not being a parody/false-flag version of the typical Archie-reading deviantArt-posting Adventure-worshipping mid-2000s Sonicfag.
That's...actually a pretty good idea. At least on paper. However the execution could make or break it.
Looks good but too many unlockable characters, cut it down to Shadow, Espio, Amy, Blaze, Vector, Charmy, Metal Sonic, and Fang.
With all the time that they've had I'm hoping the modern stages are as good as Unleashed's day stages. I felt nothing at all from Colors and Generations just felt like a budgeted version of Unleashed missing all the side content and detail. I'll wait until its out to see how a competent player plays through the modern stages and if it looks more like Generations than Unleashed, I'll just stick with Mania.
>sonic miku costume
>sonic little big planet costumes
>sonic cameos regularly in Yakuza as a toy or something
>nobody in Japan cares about sonic
Sonic trips on a banana peel and breaks his spine.
The rest of the game is him coping with the fact that he will live the rest of his life wheelchair bound, with the support of his friends. Eggman feels bad, and sets up a small adventure for Paraplegic Sonic to overcome. His friends help him complete the challenge as much as they can.
They used to
>>sonic miku costume
To be fair, Sega publishes those games.
Your comment was with classic sonic so therefore I simply assumed you are a classicfag.
Stop acting like mobius never existed.
There is proof that earth and mobius merged due to a dimensional shift caused by robotnik. Mobius is earth from the future where animals have evolved and taken over the planet. There is a time shift that eggman forced to undo the past and stop it from ever occuring.
Mobius(aka future earth) merges with Earth(20??AD) which is reflected in the events of Sonic Adventure.
I'm actually not being a parody, this is my dream sonic game. Holy hell how are you this cynical? I'm only reposting the idea I came up with, also
I took out the "story" because people bitched and whined.
>There is proof that earth and mobius merged due to a dimensional shift caused by robotnik
post this proof or go away
I want to see Sonic Mania team make this next.
>High resolution sprites or Sonic 4 Episode 2 like graphics
>Tag team gimmick from Sonic Advance 3
>Sonic Advance 1's physics and level design philosophy
>Sonic Advance 2's trick system
>Sonic,Tails,Knuckles,Amy,Cream,Blaze for characters
Pretty cool. Hope it's a girl.
>sonic miku costume
A costume for a franchise that SEGA develops games for
>sonic little big planet costumes
A costume for a game that's huge in western markets
>sonic cameos regularly in Yakuza as a toy or something
A game published and developed by SEGA

>archie sonic wiki
lmao holy shit well meme'd buddy
if you're not meme-ing, then I feel it's my duty to tell you that the Archie continuity is completely separate to the SegaSonic continuity. But I'm pretty sure you're just pulling my leg so I guess I'll just leave you to it. Happy shitposting, god speed.
Get the fuck outta here Tamers
It actually explains the setting of all the games too, its the same exact universe. Stop acting like it doesn't exist because it does. The only difference is Sonic and Friends are in the past before the apocalypse, before the regrowth, and before the evolution of animal kind. Dr. Eggman was too weak to fight against the freedom fighters from the future so he transported himself and sonic and friends through a dimensional rift that brought the entirety of angel island with them.
It's not just speculation, it's fact, and its the official timeline.
Copper the Hedgehog anyone?
Oh user stop, you're too much
What's your end-game, I really don't know what you get out of pretending to be retarded. Are (You)'s that valuable to you?
>its the same exact universe
Yeah, as spinball.
Other than that everything is completely different.
No, im just sick of the retards that ignore the facts, because "muh comix" first of all I never even read the fucking comics nor do I like them. But I looked up the facts, and accordingly mobius is earth from the future when animals took over.
Spinball is in the future retard, sonic gets sent to the past through a dimensional rift before adventure.
Adventure is in the past, on earth.
Okay so I know you're just (You)-hunting but you're still the most entertaining thing in this boring-ass thread so I'm going to play along.
If it's the same canon, how come all of the freedom fighters like Sally never show up in the games? How come they never mention the name Mobius once, ever? How do you conveniently explain away the fact that the Japanese game materials all mention Earth from as early as Sonic 1?
>people keep responding to mobiusanon
He admitted that he was just shitposting, last time we had a thread about Sonic Forces' story. Just don't respond.
But what about the echidnea civilisation ?
I really love Sonic, and was autistic about it too before I realized that not everything has to have a timeline and a coherent universe from games to games to shows to comics.
Sally and the fredom fighters don't exist yet, and they probably never will. They lived in mobotropolis before it was taken over by Dr. Eggman in the future. Now that Dr. Eggman altered the timeline they probably will never exist.
Mis-translations, japs not caring about the story. The Japanese canon probably purposely omits this detail because they don't find it nessecary to explain. But the reality is, mobius is earth from the future and a chunk of angel island along with his friends were teleported into the past, to when earth was still earth.
I mean is there any other reasonable explanation? No, this is the only one and I think its pretty good considering.
You're a fucking moron, generations confirmed that classic sonic and mobius were canon. For fucks sake green hill zone, sky sanctuary and chemical plant are all in mobius! You can even google it.
Sonic confirmed in the game that classic sonic was him from the past.
Put two and two together. What is so bad about this explanation? Why do people dislike the idea that mobius existed?
Also its confirmed that gerald robotnik time traveled into the past before successfully, while his grandson fucked up and ended up teleporting angel island in the process. Dr Gerald robotnik went into the past to research biological weapons for the war against the mobians and ultimately ended up getting trapped in the past. He was planning to bring shadow into the future as he was the "ultimate weapon".
>Why do people dislike the idea that mobius existed?
I don't dislike the idea but first you'll have to find one, JUST one (1), single reference to the name Mobius within the mainline games themselves. If you can do that I'll happily switch teams. But you can't.
Because the Japanese purposely omitted it from the game.
They didn't think it was "nessecary", although most secondary sonic media states that mobius is indeed the future version of earth and is the birthplace of sonic and friends.
>It's not mentioned anywhere
>"But it's still true!"
Literally retarded. Just stop responding everybody
Knuckles sucks.
The English manuals for the first 3 games state it took place on Mobius, the Japanese ones say earth for the sake of simplicity.
It's made by Japs you spaz, the Japanese one takes precedent. You have nothing.
They don't even say Mobius anywhere in the English Manuals.
Did it ever occur to you that some of Yuji Naka and Naoto Oshima's story got twisted by the corporate fuckers at sega?
You've finally tripped yourself up in your own bullshit - Sonic 1, 2 and 3 don't mention Mobius in their manual stories. You're just making things up to keep the (You)-train running
This is the one instance where corporate meddling was actually a good thing.
Their original story was fucking retarded.
The problem is the Boost. As long as that exists, you can't fit most of the friends. Not in their current form, at least.
Right now, shit's great. Though I have to wonder about the future, considering how long it takes to make the boost games.
>all these replies to a post without a source
fucking Sup Forums
Still never mentions earth, only south island, the fact is that mobius IS earth anyways from the future. You can't disprove or prove so let's just agree to disagree.
It doesn't mention Mobius either. You've provided no facts backing up your claims.
I'm not going to agree to disagree. I'm going ot agree to call you a faggot that's wrong and retarded.
The official comic wiki is fact enough for me and is a reasonable explanation.
And this is why you're retarded, it's been stated numerous times that they're separate canons by both Sega and Archie
The comic being the headcanon of several people and not the main canon of the games.
At least we can all agree that Sonic CD happens after S3&K.
No.
There was really nothing wrong with Madonna (for fuck's sake, it's a Roger Rabbit reference), and it's not like they didn't go ahead and give Sonic a bunch of humanoid girlfriends later on like Sara, Shara, Merlina, and Raa.
Pre-time rift:
Sonic 1,2,3,CD,Sonic Jam, Sonic R, Sonic Shuffle(?)
Post-time rift:
From Sonic Adventure forward
Alternate universe/continuity:
Sonic Dash
Sonic 06
Sonic Riders
Sonic Chronicles
Humans hadn't been in the games until Adventure 1 so it's only reasonable to believe that is when the dimensional Jump was made.
Iizuka please fuck off, everybody knows SCD takes place before 2 and it's perfectly fine being right there.
In my headcanon I always pictured it as taking place pre-Sonic 2 (just based on the lack of Tails) but I'm willing to accept that it can technically happen anywhere as long as it's pre-Adventure
Of course, the simplest explanation is normally the right one, so I guess we might as well just settle on the canon that every Sonic game more-or-less happens in their order of release with a few exceptions for handheld games
In addition, sonic rush is technically canon, and also expands the extended universe, and explains the origin of blaze, and the alternate dimension characters. Sonic Rivals is also canon and introduces Silver for the first time outside of his 06 canon.
I'd like a game that touches up on the fact that he's a giant fucking blue mutant hedgehog in a world with normal animals and humans.
When I was young I assumed Sonic and Tails were obviously mutated animals due to unethical mutagen dumping a la TMNT and I was surprised Sega never revisted this idea.
There was always a bit of a enviromentalist spin to the older games, or at least it appeared that way in my mind.
>mad scientist vs mutant animals trying to save the non-mutant animals.
Am I the only one who thought this?
>Humans hadn't been in the games until Adventure 1
>eggman
Yes you are and thank God
Honestly, I think a sequel to Sonic Heroes could be a lot of fun with a few gameplay tweaks and less samey levels.
Well you're not that far off from the Penders explanation at least I think it was Penders. Either way it was retarded.
Basically aliens visited earth, humans dissected them, aliens get mad as fuck, bomb them back to the stone age, everything evolves down a different path.
Are the humans from say, adventure 1 and 2, the same humans seen in 06 and unleashed?
>am i the only one who thought this?
Yes you fucking numpty the first sonic games were set on Mobius.
I kind of like that they've left it completely unexplained. In my opinion the Sonic world is supposed to be kind of like the Dragon Ball universe or something like Looney Tunes. The humans just exist alongside both anthro and non-anthro animals and nobody bats an eyelid, there's no explanation and that's that. It satisfies me just fine and I don't think we need more of an explanation without risking moving into edgy Archie territory.
With that said, I feel like the difference between Sonic and the flickies for example was originally simply a matter of hardware. Sonic probably wasn't supposed to be much bigger than the animals he's saving, but Sonic needed to be big for visibility purposes (and to show off the graphics) yet the animals needed to be small because the Genesis would shit the bed if there were many large sprites on-screen at once. I certainly wouldn't mind if one day they slyly brought back Classic Sonic's little cute design for good and then scaled up the small animals 2x size so that they were basically the same size as him.
The "mutated" animals are actually 10000+ years of evolution at work. They evolved into a species known only as mobians. The reason sonic is the "odd one" is because he is transported into the past along with his friends, before mobians existed.
See there's a reasonable explanation for you that the rest of these retards won't get.
don't encourage mobius-user
WHERE'S MY BOI OMEGA REEEEE
He was one of the only ones left, humans had nearly gone extinct. If you think about it maybe robotnik was trying to save his race from extinction?
>People ignored this post and let mobius user derail the thread
Sometimes I feel like Sonicfags don't actually want real threads and just prefer entertaining trolls. Same reason they always respond to "sonic was never good" gamegrumps posters
Well if he's going to be in there, he'll most likely be a sidelined cheerleader like all the others. Hopefully New hedgehog remedies this.
Yes they're all the same, just designed differently. All of the locations from adventure forward have been on past earth. Although I think 06 had to be in an alternate plane where somehow chaos was iblis. It was basically sonic adventure 1 in an alternate dimension.
Sonic colors and Sonic lost world are the only games not set on earth. Sonic 1-3 are in the future on mobius.
