*Earrape explosions because this game is loud as fuck*

I remember when I first got a pc that was capable of playing semi-modern games. Before that, all I could play was Soldat. I started off with the Orange Box
Anyway, I used to love drinking in the ambience of TF2. I'd load up empty maps in single player and just walk around, listening to the [distant mooing] and whirring of machines. Things like that used to make my heart flutter from just how comfy all the details were. I don't often feel that anymore.

[beep beep boop beep]

u made me feel a bit :(

I love games with memorable ambiance. The first two Thief games are also great for that.

[TING TING TING]

I feel ya man. Ambient noise is too often overlooked in modern games and it's a damn shame. Hell, one of my go to mods for Skyrim is Sounds of Skyrim, all it does is add ambient background noise and it's amazing how such a small detail can make such an improvement.

[HEY YOU]

Oh, it's nothing I'm that sad about. Of course, nostalgia always has that slight sting of missing a different time, but I don't get those butterflies in my stomach anymore because I'm just kinda used to this stuff now. There are a few rare exceptions of super comfy games, particularly rainy nature scenes, that give me butterflies, but I guess overexposure to that kind of stuff can lessen its impact over time. Or maybe it just takes more to impress me as fidelity keeps improving.

Damn.. Thinking about this stuff just makes me want to go back and play Spyro 2. I used to spend so much time walking different routes around the first two hub worlds because there was something about them that seemed really magical to me.

>that sniper is a spy!
>Nah.

ty for this. I feel as comfy as that dog.

[sounds of snipers shooting and missing]

I'm playing Breath of the Wild right now and it has some really great ambient sounds too.

jesus christ TF2 really jumped the shark with that matchmaking update

There is no escape from this unholy UI hell.

nothing changed

>when you find that custom server where people are cool and you lose your interest in playing anywhere else

>there will never be a worthy sequel to 2007 release era TF2

>when that same server finally dies

>interest in the game dies with it

>when you find one of those servers in current year tf2 but don't want that feeling of loneliness and betrayal again when it dies

*blocks your path*

>join server
>immediately hear someone cry out in pain
every fucking time

>when you play on Aerolite and then it goes down and you have to play on Skial

the countdown at the start of a game skips 11

why?

I've been thinking about making a server where it would go through the entire update cycle of TF2 changing major updates daily/weekly or something.

Basically it would just use sourcemod to roll back which weapons you can use, hats, weapon balance, map cycle, etc.

It would be pretty fun to go back to the beta with exploding indirect demo nades for a day.
