What level themes have they not done yet? What else will they have?
>30's Hollywood/movie studios
>wild west/desert/saloon
>?????

We've also got returning levels
>lush green field/typical start
>industrial robotic fortress/late game
>?????

Maybe Act 2 would be different but nothing in Studiopolis really came off as a solid theme. Just felt like Starlight Zone with a bit of Scrap Brain thrown in.

Desert Saloon is pretty unique though. Since Sonic 2 and CD (PC version) both had Wild West Zones that got scrapped.

As for themes they haven;t used yet? I guess a Sea level? They've had Coral Cave, Sea Bottom Segue, Metal Harbor, Ocean Base and about 1000 Beach levels but nothing that was actually really underwater.

They could do a forest level as a reference to Wood Zone, though they've kinda already done that before with Mushroom Hill.
Then again you could argue they've done the desert theme before with Sandopolis so as long as they did a different take on the forest theme it would be fine.

There has to be a space level. This is not negotiable

Sonic Generations made such a fucking glaring omission

Who the fuck considers Planet Wisp a show stopper level?

lisuka really loves wisps

How would an under-sea level work in a Sonic game?
I think as some sort of secret facility or city a la Rapture, created by Eggman of course.

Well Planet Wisp in Sonic Colors was a lovely zone, but it really didn't need to be the level that Sonic Generations used (while also being the worst level in Generations). Starlight Carnival, Asteroid Coaster or Aquarium Park would've been better.

Already exists

Ocean base from Advance 3

Its an awesome theme, in fact all of advance 3s themes and the play on the regular ones are great

Advance don't count because I won't play them.

Well...alright then....? Just letting you know it has been done

Aquarium Park is sort of like that. though I don;t know if you ever see outside the domes.

Are those numbers of new/returning zones confirmed?
I'm curious how they'll distribute returning zones. One each from 1/CD/2/3/and Knuckles would be 5 total, but if there's 6 I wonder where the last one will come from. They could do a Chaotix zone I suppose.

Bridge Zone

Jungle Zone from Sonic SMS has been done. And it was pretty good too. I wouldn't mind another.

I dunno about Bridge Zone but I do kinda hope they do something completely out of left field along those lines, some random zone from the 8-bit games would be fun.
I want Dark Castle from Tails' Skypatrol.

Dracula's castle. Or maybe they have already. I haven't played too much Sonic.

...

WE AT PUMPKIN HILL

You ready?

I'd like it if they made levels from the 3D sonic games and gave them the Mania treatment. Hang Castle would make a great 2D level.

Sewer

There's been a "Spooky Castle" but not Dracula specifically.

Some of my favorite TMNT levels in the past. Fund it.

If TMNT games fucked up sewer levels I'd be a bit worried considering they live there.

Thats what i thought was going to happen when they first showed the trailer. When the line we are going to revisit the past and then it showed the 3D games

Wouldve been great to see sa1-colors get "remade" into 2D sprite stages

>windy valley
>metal harbor
>hang castle
>tropical jungle
>chun nan or holoska
>star light carnival

And then they could either add the new levels like studiopolis or just do what they are doing now with green hill and fbz and make mania 2 fully original after this

Fuck i hope it happens at some point

With all of the evident hazards in them, it is still a bit of a mystery why they'd put up with it.

Could Pumpkin Hill be the greatest song in history?

A spooky level is absolutely required, as far as I'm concerned. The more unique they go with it the better though. I think they can do better than a castle. No pyramid either.

That would be kind of a middle finger to the classicautists this is aimed at. Like putting in Shadow as the 4th playable character.

A dried up lake with coral reefs and stuff

I'm a classic autist and i would love that. It would be much nicer than seeing green hill again. Let me let you in on something: we dont care from what game the level comes from. If it feels like classic sonic and plays like classic sonic, its classic sonic. Doesnt matter if its green hill, red mountain, or empire city.

I say fuck 'em. Genesis gameplay should be the real draw. Anyone who isn't a fan of Sonic past 3K probably should just cut their losses by now.

I wouldn't. An entirely different game trying to be a tongue-in-cheek Sonic Adventure throwback would be neat though.

Oh well, we're getting what we want this time. Maybe next game.

>we

Im actually pirating this just because green hill is in it lol. When they go a step beyond romhack territory i will give them money for their product. Studiopolis is good, whole game should have been and 2D'd 3D levels

>we're getting what we want this time.
I am too, frankly. I just never saw eye-to-eye with people who swore off everything from the 3D era with extreme prejudice.

Okay.

Me neither, it just wouldn't fit in this game. Totally wrong for it.

One of the Eggrobo silhouettes had a Ninja star. Moonville confirmed?

I mean Cop = City = Studiopolis.

>Totally wrong for it.
Maybe. Maybe not. If it looks and feels like a Genesis stage, would anyone really be offended that it technically is a nod to something like Sonic Adventure? Cancel that. SHOULD anyone feel offended? If they are I'd question their position.

-Spooky Halloween level
-Rusty Industrial factory
-Green Hillzone, but instead everything is dead and it's all brown and lifeless
-Pirate Ship
-Abandoned Robotnik laboratory with a bunch of unfinished and old prototypes
-Food themed level
-Zone where everything is gigantic and you're like an insect
-Giant tree where the level keeps going up instead of right
-Inside the belly of a monster
-Sewers
-Emerald mine

>That one giving the finger

WELL FUCK YOU ALSO

>-Green Hillzone, but instead everything is dead and it's all brown and lifeless
Well, there was a "Mecha Green Hill Zone." And Mushroom Hill changed colors with the seasons, including an autumn brown.

>-Green Hillzone, but instead everything is dead and it's all brown and lifeless

One of the Gamegear games did that actually.

Mechanics Green Hillzone is bland. By dead, I meant the place was severely polluted, all life was killed, etc.

>If it looks and feels like a Genesis stage
It wouldn't, since it's taken from a Dreamcast game. You know that no matter how it's styled it would be jarring thematic whiplash.

You lack imagination if you don't believe a setting taken from a Dreamcast game can't be reimagined with 16-bit sprite graphics.

That's not the question.

>If it looks and feels like a Genesis stage
>looks
That was precisely the question.

>and feels
Your retarded idea would stick out like a sore thumb.

>and feels
>like a Genesis stage
What are you getting at?

How many ideas from something like Sonic Adventure's Sonic stages are foreign to 2D Sonic?
>boost pad
>springboard
>enemies that walk at or shoot at you

You now realize all 3 of those can be found in a 2D sonic game

lol

I realized it because that's what I was saying all along.

It's a matter of them not being from Golden Age, or "classic" Sonic. They're designed completely differently, even re-stylizing it it would still stick out as being conceived under a different design ethic, and it would still stick out for being from an Adventure game. And then there's the question, why would they do this in a place where it isn't needed, wanted, or even particularly welcomed? Simple answer, they wouldn't.

retard

So you're saying they couldn't redesign a level to work better in 2D? How hard is it to move a few slopes around and stick to Genesis level design philosophy? The answer is "not very."
>even re-stylizing it it would still stick out as being conceived under a different design ethic, and it would still stick out for being from an Adventure game.
We were discussing if it were stylized with 16-bit graphics. How is a city level from a 3D game so fundamentally different from a city level in the Genesis or Game Gear games? It only boils down to whatever the level gimmick is.

>And then there's the question, why would they do this in a place where it isn't needed, wanted, or even particularly welcomed? Simple answer, they wouldn't.
Ah, finally dropped the pretense. Now we're into the heart of your argument
>"NOT MUH SONIC"

No, I'm saying it wouldn't fit the entire point of the game and would be a waste of thought. It's a celebration of classic Sonic, not all Sonic history.

Why are Adventurefags so fucking autistic

Well I wasn't submitting that the game should feature levels cropped from the entire series ala "Generations." I was just saying it wouldn't be so offensive if they did feel inclined to include a Sonic Adventure level or something of that nature. A "demake" of a singular level or something.

Will it happen? Almost certainly not. But if someone were so terribly allergic to the idea, I wouldn't really value their opinion on the series. It shows they haven't been a Sonic fan for too long and don't value much beyond pure, unrefined nostalgia.

I've noticed too many former fans arguing what the series "should be" who haven't had a stake in what Sonic has been in too long. But I do feel like Mania is going to be a very nice change of pace.

Not talking about the series, just Mania.

That's basically what Advanced was already.

Wasn't there a level in Rush that was basically Metal Harbor?
