halo 3 was the best /thread

>Cue fag who hates Halo 3 because it had a short campaign that made no sense
>Cue somebody to say Reach had the best MP
>Cue that other fag who posts the same copy-pasted list of reasons why Reach was bad
>Cue people shitting on anything 343 has done ever
>Cue a group of people reminiscing about Halo 2
>Cue some additional faggot who says Halo 2 had a bad campaign because of the Arbiter missions

meme

10 years since this game was out.

Time is fleeting my dudes.

I'm IP banned from creating threads but I can comment, can someone create a Digimon World Next Order thread for me? Danke.

this mission was the best. It has everything
vehicles, outside combat, inside combat, scenery.

I prefer The Ark.

>that skybox
>forward unto dawn
>tank beats ghost
>final fight with the brutes

Name some of the best missions from Halo 4 and Halo 5

agreed

>defeat a scarab before it finishes landing
>get sent into orbit for no reason whatsoever and die
Fucking bungie pulled no punches in making these games a casual as possible. Fucking skillcaps...

implying ive ever played those

This mission was easily the best of all the games. Looking back I realize either halo 2 or 3 is the game that I replayed the campaign the most out of any game ever.

I always enjoyed halo 2 more though, the multiplayer was always special for me. The glitches were fun and easy enough to do even if you went outside the map in multiplayer someone on the enemy team could probably do it too and kill you.

Not trying to bring down halo 3 at all though, it was damn amazing in it's own right. Foundry was amazing, made the already decent custom game scene amazing. Lets not forget theater either, a feature should be standard for online games now. IMO the maps weren't as strong overall as 2's were, but it had some strong contenders. I didn't really like the changes to the weapon balance either, but it didn't effect the gameplay too much.

ODST was a nice attempt as something different, but just didn't have the wow factor the first 3 games had. The overworld was a cool idea though didn't end up working that well. The levels were decent. The real improvement here was firefight mode. A feature that was great when it was introduced, but amazing in...

Reach.. As a fan of the story, I loved this game. It was a great backstory for anyone who didn't read the books, and still pretty good for anyone who did. Although it changed some of the plot from the books I found it to be overall very enjoyable, with the ending being kino. Firefight mode was perfected in this and it ended up being my favorite mode to play since the multiplayer... Well I don't think I want to get into that.

Played the campaign of Halo 4, it was okay, though it was missing 1/2 of what made the other game's campaigns so great. Never played the multiplayer but from what I've heard and seen I didn't miss out on too much.

Never played 5 and don't plan on it anytime soon.

bump

In 4, I'd have to say the best mission is the one where you get to the Infinity. It was probably the best settings and best mix of covenant and prometheans, along with getting the mantis. Everything else is forgettable due to the generic art style and awful prometheans.

Reminder that the pelican easter egg in reach was superior to the actual mission devoted to flying a pelican in 4.

Only if you promise to be my bf.

asl?

18, girl (male), Wellington NZ

Infinity: a healthy mix of Covenant and Prometheans, a nice jungle terrain, a Scorpion segment and a Mantis segment.

Midnight: a trench run in a spaceship to the tune of 117, and fucking Arrival, one of the greatest songs in the franchise.

5? Eh, the campaign was the worst out of all of the games, maybe the one mission where Exuberant Witness gives you a tank.

Fpbp

I wish Origins 2 was how Halo 3 actually went down.

youtube.com/watch?v=VWm-HSww_zY&t

Ark/Covenant are the best b2b levels in any FPS.

Standoff is also the best multiplayer level.

>multiflag ctf on standoff

What do you think will happen after Halo 6?

>Cue people shitting on anything 343 has ever done

Reporting for duty, fuck 343

Reboot

Microsoft wants Halo products for the next 20 years so I imagine something will happen

Why the fuck hasnt Microsoft released Halo 3 on the PC yet?

Nevermind they'd just make it 10 exclusive anyway.

Why do people hate on the Arbiter missions? Fuck, why can't we have a fucking multiplayer like Firefight where other players can play as Covenant?

This thread doesn't have enough space dildos.

>pelican easter egg in reach
Explain.

Quarantine Zone was very much hated. Bungie themselves said they regretted bringing the Flood back in Halo 2 because they weren't fun to fight.

easter egg allowed you to fly a pelican or phantom around in the rainy city level in reach

>Fuck, why can't we have a fucking multiplayer like Firefight where other players can play as Covenant?
I'm fairly certain Reach did this.

>Played Halo 1,2 and 3 with a friend when they all came out.
>1 and 2 came out on PC but 3 never did.
>Havent played since it was released.
>To me 3 has gained a "it was so good but i cant remember why" vibe.

Whats the best way to play 3 now?
Will 3 have a PC release ever, what can one expect?

Only in custom games, matchmaking Firefight didn't have that

>in Halo 6 the rings come back into play somehow
>heroes are powerless to stop them from firing
>all the galactic civilizations get fucked
>forerunner robots scatter life across the galaxy, but there wasn't a long contingency plan this time so all the races just kinda get jumbled up together on various planets
>skip head thousands of years later to all the humans and covenant species using rocks and remnants of their old technology and shit to fight each other all over again, setting the stage for Halo: Combat Devolved

>Whats the best way to play 3 now?
MCC

Veto Snowbound faggot

>Will 3 have a PC release ever, what can one expect?
If you're optimistic, you can hope for Halo 3 Anniversary in 6 months, otherwise no.

yu got sumthin 2 say, beyaotch?

What is happening in 6 months?

10 year anniversary, which is when the other halos got their updated versions

not gonna happen though, halo 3's graphics haven't aged a bit. there's no need to improve them and i imagine most people would be mad at the change.

you are lying if you say Reach didn't have the best MP.
>most varied game modes
>tens of thousands of players even in the shittiest modes
>Invasion
>neat ranking system to spend those ill-gotten credits on master chief firefight voice
>forge world
>shooting down a banshee from a quarter mile away with a well aimed EMP grenade
>stab a fucker in the balls
>throw a grenade across the map and get a triple kill half an hour later when it knocks a warthog onto a precarious cliff with no safe way out

easily the best halo multiplayer

343 sucks

>start of cancerous loadout system
>Armor abilties were unilaterally garbage that fucked the flow of the game even more than Sprint did in 4
>No shield bleed through, which is just fucking absurd
>bloom
>FUCKING BLOOM
>Some of the worst maps in the series
Reach multiplayer was shit.

Halo 2 was garbage even when it was still contemporary.

the armor abilities were THE shit. armor lock got people so salty so fast, especially if you jump on their vehicle and EMP them with it.

the loadouts weren't even bad. what's wrong with jetpack + concussion rifle + plasma grenades? absolutely nothing.

>not wanting to go blind when you dunk on those peasants in grifball

>some of the best community made maps in the series

343 is shit and should have never existed.

>grifball
Opinion discarded

I would say I enjoyed Halo 2 out of the first 3, haven't played anything after that with any consistency. in retrospect I would have to say Halo 3 had more to offer than Halo 2 but muh nostalgia. All those superjumps, map exits, and custom lobbies of zombies and map exploration were really great.

>Forgetting Pillar of Autumn

Agreed

>missions were terribly designed
>no one wanted to play an alien when Bungie promoted the Chief for 3 years
>false advertisement
>Earth invasion never really happened
>mediocre Arbiter missions with a terrible final boss fight at the end to close the game
>since Arbiter's missions dragged on people felt they didn't get enough Chief
>people were uninterested in the Covenant storyline
>people were mad that they had to play an alien in the final mission, not the Chief

Still the best Halo, and the last time I remember the hype being worth it, everything's so soulless nowadays.

This trailer especially was so good, youtube.com/watch?v=7KTc2aZEaeg

>people were mad that they had to play an alien in the final mission, not the Chief
I admit this was me, I just wanted an epic vehicle escape

Me too, this was also me.
