I have asked this myself for the past month.

My PC is old so Im not sure if woundl't end up becoming slower with Windows 10.

Older OS' will eventually be phased out and new features will only be available to newer versions.

W7 still works fine, but I upgraded to 10 so that I don't have to worry about it when they finally make DX12 work

Dx12, but even that it's a pretty weakreason. It has a smaller install base which saves space in your ssd and with some tweaking you can turn it into win7 basically. Also it has a virtual desktop feature which I use a lot.

i used to be a win7 fag and i think win10 is faster after trying it. win7 will be obsolete in the near future unfortunately.

Microsoft aren't allowing the older versions of windows to receive security patches and such with newer CPUs from Intel and AMD. That's a pretty good reason imo.

That's because they're all the same API and it takes zero effort to maintain backwards compatibility between DX9, 10, and 11. DX12 on the other hand, is a completely new API, and will be necessary to use from now on to get the maximum amount of performance out of graphics hardware. You could also use Vulkan, but just like how Microsoft strong armed their way into basically defeating OpenGL in the 90s, they're probably going to do the same thing again with Vulkan.
