Let's have a thread where we all name video game franchises that we abandoned and state reasons why we did so. As the OP, I'll start.
This year I decided to drop the Pokémon franchise completely after being a fan of the games since the 90s. I've played every mainline Pokémon game but I'm positive that Sun/Moon are the last Pokémon games that I'll ever play. Reasons why I gave up: >Fed up with Game Freak always getting away with mediocre effort simply because their games are 100% guaranteed to sell millions >Newer designs are [arguably] becoming less creative and are more bland and uninspired >Difficulty decreases with each game - the game requires minimal effort to beat and lacks any substantial challenges >Game Freak still hasn't innovated enough. The series feels repetitive and redundant >Game Freak has annoying habit of removing critical features from past games (one step forward, two steps back) >Game Freak refuses to balance Pokémon stats. Many Pokémon are too overpowered and online battling is a joke >Fan made meta, the only saving grace, grew too stale and chaotic >Game Freak still struggles to catch up with modern times. Their third 3DS game still suffers from heavy frame drops

Its always been a kids game user

Also I gave up on all games.

This. You just got too old for the game. You aren't the target demographic anymore.
Oliver Lopez
I never had trouble with Pokemon games being to easy or unbalanced because i always treated it as a very casual game. You just pick whatever Pokemon you want and go for it. Having the strongest team basically means looking up the best composition online. Competitive is really stupid IMO, especially with RNG involved.

Benjamin Morgan
Yooka Laylee for no reason just like them
Samuel Walker
Final Fantasy and most JRPGs. i just got tired of how they write things. especially when it involves teenagers bullshit
William Cook
Nice blog OP.
Carter Johnson
Dragon Age. The first one was good and then it all went downhill.
Lucas Allen
That could be a possibility. I'm no longer thrilled by the games anymore.
You, my friend, are a true sage.
True. As soon as I realised how hopeless the meta-game was, I lost all remaining interest in the franchise.
It apparently worked.
Samuel Watson
Origins is my favourite by far, but I still buy and enjoy all their games. saving grace is that I haven't bought Andromeda yet
Christopher Richardson
this is true, a good reason they dont put in the effort. But they could fix 75% of the problems in OPs post without it alienating kids.
Levi Sullivan
When I was a kid, I thought it was too easy simply because I only used one pokemon and their strongest attack only, for every fight. I didnt even use consumables, although that would probably have helped when fighting the elite 4 with only pikachu and him running out of moves.
John Hill
>playing pokemon over the age of 12
Jaxon Perry
>Elder Scrolls >Fallout >Metal Gear Solid >Mass Effect >Final Fantasy Basically all my old favorites. I really am left with nothing. Skyrim is the only one out of that list's most recent entries that I purchased and it's what made me decide to abandon ship.
Josiah Wright
Final Fantasy 11 was an MMO for no reason, and 12 was mobile combat for no reason, and then they never looked back.
Jaxon Cook
>souls series >final fantasy >anything from EA >anything from Bioware >anything from Blizzard pretty sure I'm missing a lot but those from the top of my head
Jordan Brooks
"no reason"
Daniel Butler
So all the people in pic related have autism? They all appear to be "normies" as far as Sup Forums is concerned.
Pokémon is targeted at people of all ages. You sound like those "video games cause violent behaviour in kids" old geezers.
Jordan Morris
>all the people in pic related have autism It's very likely.
Adrian Cox
Fire Emblem
Awakening was shit, and the newer ones don't give me much confidence in the series.
Parker Garcia
>Nier >Turned from a somewhat ridiculous story about a dad saving his kid to LMAO MOON HUMANS MAKE EMOTIONAL TITY ROBOT WARRIORS!
Xavier Parker
The game as a whole is a massive disappointment because of how MS and Capcom further dumbed down the series compared to DR3, but the ending was a slap in the face and the Frank Rising DLC is a kick in the dick making it feel like they only brought him back to kill him off.
Anthony Lewis
if those are normies I'm a model
Jose Gomez
>Mass Effect >Dragon Age >Elder Scrolls All for obvious reasons. Every new game in the series manages to be worse than the previous, somehow.
Thomas Green
>all those crapple products >those stances >pokemon go >not even a pokemon game disgusting
Nathan Ward
>Diablo Then again, it's not just players that have abandoned the series - Blizzard has as well
Ryder Hernandez
>Case West was a prequel to the adventures of Chuck and Frank as they try to take down Phenotrans >we never got the full game
DR3 was alright but the vehicle shit was gay and they basically said fuck the series at that point. DR4 was shitting on it's corpse. Capcom is legitimately one of the worst companies I think because of shit like this and the new DMC.
Why shit on games that have small-medium sized dedicated fanbases to shit out a game that will kill a source of money. Like it really doesn't even make sense to me from a business standpoint.
Matthew Lee
My guess is that with DR4 they wanted it to appeal to a "wider audience" except that backfired horribly. The appeal I got from reading glassdoor reviews and from the numerous Street Fighter/Mega Man items in DR4 is that they would rather make anything else than yet another zombie game which would be fine if the game didnt suffer because of it. Why would it be so hard to recreate the DR2 saga but just add fancier graphics?
Dylan Thomas
>Why would it be so hard to recreate the DR2 saga but just add fancier graphics? Because you would call that a rehash and would whine about a lazy developer wanting to earn easy money.
Asher Thomas
So much of DR4 already reuses combo weapons or mechanics from previous titles though, and even then the differences between DR1 and DR2 are massive.
Adam Green
Mass Effect after the first game Everything Blizzard after BC
Christian Evans
Total War series when the games got progressively more simplified with less mod support and more DLC
John Watson
Metal Gear Solid, after MGS4. I stopped caring about what Kojima does, too. I'm forever convinced he's a complete hack
20 years of series ruined in a plot that's retarded and half-baked even for the series' over the top standards. Bending over backwards to tie together events and people that should never have been tied together
Chase Gomez
Final fantasy
10 was turn based and 12 was automatic = no skill required, only judgement, shill game
13, 13-2 and 13-3 are all action rpgs to some extent, and that's not what brought me to the series
plus I no longer like anime and jrpgs themes
if 15 comes to PC, I don't think I'll play it 7 remake looks also quite action oriented
