About to start playing this, what am I in for? I've noticed it isnt really liked here, but I got it and the dlc for ten europoors and it has to be at least worth it

a 7/10 OK game with lackluster story.

Why don't you play it and see for yourself?

>I got it and the dlc for ten europoors and it has to be at least worth it

As someone who doesn't like using controllers for CRPGs and tried playing this with KB&M, I quit this game in a few hours because the controls are so bad on PC. This is a console game ported to PC, unfortunately.

pretend it's not a dragon age title, itll seem like far less of a shit-show
this thread is about an action RPG pretending to be an open world RPG, DA:I is not a CRPG

Just use a controller and play it as an action game. You'll have more fun. There are some pretty fun builds you can play just focusing on your Inquisitor. I'd recommend either a Rogue or dps focused Mage for fun factor. Set up your AI party members as a tank, an archer, and a Barrier/CC support mage and they can handle themselves well.

Be sure to leave the Hinterlands quickly. If you try to be completionist from the start you'll ruin the game for yourself. Also the Trespasser DLC is obligatory. The game is incomplete without it. The other DLC is optional.

A bunch of fetch quest filler, shitty combat suffering from an identity crisis of different genres, lifeless environments, and a story that never pays off despite a few interesting segments.

Mediocre in all aspects.

Dragoninquisition.com has some solid builds for Nightmare difficulty.

Which was better?

Inquisition.

Best tip I can give is to not do every sidequest / optional content there is. It's all shit, and there's way too much of it Just rush through the main story and play whatever DLC you have.

Inquisition. I was at least able to slog through it.

I couldn't get past Act 1 in DA2, it was such a fucking letdown after Origins.

Alright story with some interesting characters here an there (most are shit tho).
Worst gameplay in the series if you can believe it.

is that a joke

I'll add that if you have unavoidable completionist tendencies the best way to go is to use custom difficulty and turn on the "Even Ground" and "Take it Slow" trials. This will make the game REALLY LONG since you'll actually need to do all the little fetch quests, but if you're completionist it should make your progression about right and keep you from ruining your own experience by overleveling everything.

DA2 at least has DA:O's mechanics and tactical options, which is more than DA:I has going for it's MMO-lite ARPG combat

There are some alright moments in DA2, but the story is 100% dicking around in Kirkwall with no location changes other than "dreary beach" or "dreary mountain cave", and the only time you go to a fun DA:O-esqe area (Deep Roads), it lasts half an hour, and isn't NEARLY as complex or interesting as the Deep Roads in the prior games

Legacy is cool as shit, but it's also DLC, and the only part of DA2 that has anything to do with DA lore in general. Cory also gets re-used in a gayer way in DA:I

I'm also probably one of the only people who likes Merrill, if only because she's one of the few characters who rejects the standard Bioware trope of "powerful race at the apex of power was corrupted somehow, and as such aren't allowed to use old relics of power anymore because MUH DEMON RISK", even though she's kinda a retard about it, and if you don't say the right things at the end of her loyalty quest, her retard tribe tries to murder your entire party because their retard elder bound a demon using blood magic she promised she didn't know

Elves would rather sail around on dirtships and check under their beds for Tevinter magisters every night than try to research and understand all the old items of power from their old empire, despite the fact they clearly have an aptitude for magic and don't give a shit about the human Circle

grind

Shit gameplay
Shit story
OK graphics that breaks sometimes
Some decent characters

An OK rental if you can finish it quickly in a few days.

This. It barely has anything to do with Dragon age. (a few spots here and here) but over all its just bland, and repetitive...OH enjoy the table where missions take real time.....SO GLAD world of warcraft uses this system its SO AWESOME

Help the templars the mages are a bunch of retards

they should gut the rpg elements from combat an make it a full on action game.

A decent game with lot's of filler. The dlc is good.

>but I got it and the dlc for ten europoors and it has to be at least worth it
>not just getting origin access for 3.99 and getting access to the deluxe version of the game including all DLC

Chances are you're not going to play it after a month anyway

Oh man, I completely missed that option. Played through only once and my biggest complaint was how over leveled I was for a bulk of the content.

enjoy single player MMO. want to advance further in the story? 'level' the area by gathering 10 plants, killing 20 enemies etc. etc.

DA2. The design and reused places are bad, but the story was a bit more dynamic

I'd say D2 is better, in spite of its shortcomings. DA:I was one of the few games where I rushed to the end because it was such a borefest in its core.

Origins > Inquisition >>> 2
All you need to know

>worse gameplay than spam LM/A/X to win

It was added in a patch. Depending on when you played it might have not been available.

Get out of the Hinterlands as fast as you can.

Turn on the game option that makes enemies level with you if they're below your level. Will keep you from outleveling accidentally, and give you some extra rewards for turning on that "challenge".

An incredibly average game that is better then the 2nd but no where near as good as origins.
