Now that the angry switchfags have gone to bed, can we have a discussion about the GPD WIN?

Am I the only one that bought one of these? Any questions about it I can answer?

What is it? How frequently do you use it? Where do you use it? Do you ever use it in public?

Why did you buy it instead of a cheap Windows10 tablet off aliexpress/gearbest/whatever?

No bully, I really want to know.

What the fuck kind of button placement is that?

How's your holding up? some of my buttons have gotten kinda iffy and I heard some other people having hinge troubles but it's hard to judge how common the issues are.

Dear lord, why do you live in mirror world.

>What is it?

It's a Windows 10 mini PC thing. It's a fully functioning desktop PC, but nobody gives a shit about that because lel gayman

>How frequently do you use it?

I got it last week sometime, and..yeah, i'm using it quite a bit.

>Where do you use it?

At home, I am using it to in-home stream witcher 3 from my high-end desktop, but I also use it on the subway, too. I have an hour's commute to and from work and playing New Vegas on that, it seems like no time at all.

>Do you ever use it in public?

Yeah, nobody cares. On the subway here in Shanghai I get more stares when I read a book. Modern world is weird.

that's mini Windows 10 laptop with integrated xbox controller, basically a pc/handheld mix

sadly,it only has shitty intel atom SoC, so I don't think it'll run many games without stuttering

how do you like it OP?

*snores loudly*

>Why did you buy it instead of a cheap Windows10 tablet

For the games.

>What the fuck kind of button placement is that?

A fuckin reversed one, m8

>How's your holding up?

No problems so far. I expect a couple of screen scratches because the company I bought it from gave me a screen protector, but I am shit at putting them on. I haven't had any problems, but the shoulder buttons seem weirdly wobbly. I get the impression they are supposed to be that way though. I do have the problem that most encounter though where it doesn't seem to sleep when I close the lid. Just hibernate.

when you stream games, does it render through your pcs hardware or through this thing? although either way, i dont see why you wouldnt just use a controller to play games on your pc

Those keys look WAY too small.

>*slams door*

>how do you like it OP?

I have to admit i'm pleasantly surprised. Actually kind of..bemused. I bought it expecting to have to tweak a lot of games, but...nope. It ran skyrim at 60FPS straight up on medium settings, new vegas on high at 60. I can play PS2 games at 50+ without having to do anything technical...and..well, that's all i'm gonna use it for anyway.

Blackberrys are for faggots.

>when you stream games, does it render through your pcs hardware or through this thing?

Through the PC. Which makes it real nice for me to play AAA games on ultra from my bed, or sofa. I guess my apartment is weirdly spaced out, and my PC is in the library/office, so..uncomfortable to play games there sometimes.

>$500
>$500
>$500

nice, wasn't expecting that to be honest

>thing is called GPD
>image shows DPG
>all leters in the keyboard are inversed
>not realizing the image is reversed

fucking hell user

>$500

Living in Shanghai has some advantages. I got mine for less than the cost of a switch with a lot of free stuff.

No, god, neither was I. I am half expecting it to just explode in my hands sometimes because it feels weirdly good.

That said, the one I got was the newer model, not the one that..kickstarter (?) people ended up getting. Faster processor or something.

>not realizing

Nah, I just didn't think anyone would care.

its an overpriced piece of shit with a terribly small screen, setup REQUIRING m+KB instead of it being ready outside the box, emulators are garbage on it because half of them dont fullscreen and you cant register your controller unless you use a USB keyboard again. I was paid to demo one of these things and its a novelty with none of the convenience a modern system brings. There are dozens of better options for gaming on the go, and this is quite possibly the poorest use of 500 bucks in that regard.

Not him, but how well does PSP and GBC/WII emulate?

that's real neato user. I'd get one but chances are I'd have to pay up a lot of money for it being in >a fucking leaf

That's counter to all the benchmarks that came out on release (New Vegas 15 FPS MAX on low, Skyrim 10-20 fps on low). Was there a revision or are you modding in flat textures and the like?

holy shit fuck off shill no one cares about your garbage cell phone tier processing power piece of shit

>setup REQUIRING m+KB instead of it being ready outside the box

Windows 10 needs users to set it up..

>emulators are garbage on it because half of them dont fullscreen

Emulators without a fullscreen mode? which ones? Maybe..DS or 3DS because of the two screens?

> I was paid to demo one of these things

Paid..shill?

PSP I haven't tried yet. GC is okay on some games I've tried (twin snakes, eternal darkness) but for some reason REALLY struggles with skies of arcadia, and gets like 28FPS max.

>(New Vegas 15 FPS MAX on low, Skyrim 10-20 fps on low

Were those early builds or something? There are youtube videos of people getting much higher than that.

Well, some do.

>chances are I'd have to pay up a lot of money for it being in >a fucking leaf

Yeah, I honestly wouldn't say it was worth it for more than 350 US dollars. It'll get cheaper, or better options will come out.

>WSHHHHHHHHH
>"dude what the fuck is that sound"
>"oh no worries man it has to cool off when playing skyrim at the lowest settings"

How many times are you going to post this shit?

We get it, you got an overpriced handheld.

Why dont you just use it instead of creathing shit threads about it?

By paid I meant more along the lines that I was one for review for free. It might just be because I expected the thing to work better with some older emulators. I'm talking pre-gen 4 stuff. I fiddled with the thing for far too long to come to the conclusion thats its a glorified jailbroken phone running windows 10. The controller itself feels fine, but its hard to shake the fact that 90% of software is optimized for a screen about 10x larger than this. Its a much better investment to buy a small computer with decent on-board graphics and run games with an external controller, as it wouldn't be worse than this.

It's a handheld, nigger. I can do both.

I've not tried any of the older emulators on it, yet. The 64GB internal memory just isn't enough these days, and i'm still waiting for the microSD I bought for it to arrive. I can't say anything of your comparison, though, I don't use smartphones much. I would be quite surprised if a phone could run some of the games this does, though.

I already have a small computer, but I like how small this is. I bought it to be a handheld, so i'm not really put off by it being small. It was..expected?

>cheap chinese shit that you paid more for than a switch
>Can't play games newer than 2011

L O L

stop shilling your BlackBerry2.0

I paid 20 UK pounds less for it than I would for a switch. And i'm not a huge fan of Zelda, Mario or Pokemon so why would I WANT a switch?

Do you know if they're gonna make another version of this with more power?

Oh look a weak piece of crap with no dedicated library.

Into to trash.

I'm not really sure. There's no talk of it yet, but they came up with their first revision in something like 3 months, so I wouldn't be too surprised.

>steam library and emulators.

I'm okay with my thousands of games, thanks.

>Didn't notice the picture was mirrored
>Was about to sperg out at the horrible choice of button layout
Honestly, the idea of the GPD is really appealing to me, but I know full well I'll never find any use for it. especially since i cucked myself into buying a switch

>Honestly, the idea of the GPD is really appealing to me, but I know full well I'll never find any use for it.

If you don't have a use for it, don't buy it. I'd recommend it mainly to people who want a good handheld but don't care about Nintendo games.

I don't see the switch having much of a third party library at all..

I don't expect a huge third party library on the Switch either, but all I'd really want on a handheld is old shit and indie shit, both of which the Switch is likely to get. I have a PS4 and a PC for everything else.
I am a little sick of paying for roms, but I don't plan on buying more than a small handful of them this time around anyway.
I'm happy the GPD exists though. Something about compact technology doing advanced shit gets my dick rock hard.

Aww man. It's a shame you bought a switch. Handheld emulation of PS2 games is wondrous, and it has all those old games and indie shit as standard, without having to pay again for it.

best part is that the switch has already been hacked

expect homebrew in a year or two

Yeah, it's pretty unfortunate, but when the thing got revealed I held off on a lot of stuff in case it did get Switch-ported (namely Enter the Gungeon and Duck Game, to name a few).
Honestly, knowing me and my attachment to ridiculous technology, I'll end up owning one of these things eventually after a hardware revision or two. I'm just too much of a nintenbro to hold off on their hardware these days.

The Switch already has a great 3rd party lineup, unless you plan on discounting any indie games ever released. Seriously, it's pitiful to shill the GDP Win so hard by trying to shit on the Switch.

Well, the good thing is that you can't really lose at this point. If they keep going and revise the hardware you can get a better one than I have now, and if they don't, and they go bust, you could pick one up dirt cheap in a year.

>Nintenbro

I am so glad I never really got into Nintendo stuff. The company just seems so horrible, at least these days.

>shill the GDP Win so hard by trying to shit on the Switch

Well, i'm not shilling it, neither am I "shitting on" the switch. I don't personally think it will be that successful, and I doubt i'm making anyone at Nintendo cry with my opinion...so why are you crying about it?

>Living in Shanghai has some advantages.

>I'm not shilling it
>I'm not shitting on the Switch
>"I am so glad I never really got into Nintendo stuff. The company just seems so horrible, at least these days."
>"Now that the angry switchfags have gone to bed, can we have a discussion about the GPD WIN?"
>"I don't see the switch having much of a third party library at all.."

I don't care if you shill the GPD WIN, but it's pretty obvious you have some kind of inferiority complex for the Switch, either because you hate Nintendo or because you feel threatened to justify your purchase.

Yeah, it can be pretty shit sometimes, but overall, worth it for me.

>hate Nintendo

Well, I dislike Nintendo. Why does it hurt your feelings for me to say this?

>Gets exposed as a hypershill who wants to generate popularity by creating controversy through baiting Nintendo fans
>"Why does it hurt your feelings I don't like Nintendo?"
What a nonsequitor and copout response.

>Gets exposed as a hypershill

Uhm...well, no. That never happened. You started crying about the fact I don't like Nintendo and called me a shill. I'm really only bothering to engage with you now because there's nobody else here and because it's pretty funny.

I'll probably close up the thread unless you start giving me some more impressive retardation, or want to talk about the OLD days of Nintendo. Ever play Shadowrun on the SNES? That game was fuckin' boss.

>having an emotional response to a fucking toy company

kys nigger

Still awake, winfag. ;)

How is this not obvious shilling?

Because i'm pretty happy t talk about the faults of the thing, and i've straight up told a few people here not to bother getting one?

>GPD WIN
whats the battery life like?
looks kinda neat
was thinking about getting a raspberry pi to make a mini game console that i could stream steam games to while im at home

but if a low end version exists for a low enough cost i might as well buy this

No, but you are obviously advertising it

Fuck off

>winfag
the fuck's that even suppose to mean you newfag?

>whats the battery life like?

From playing skyrim, I got about 3 hours out of it on high performance. Just leaving the thing on, which I tried the other day, and doing light stuff, I managed to get about 7.5, even though Windows 10 kept telling me it would get 9.

>that i could stream steam games to while im at home

It's really good for streaming, in my opinion. BUT..if you can work a raspberry pi into something for less money, that sounds a lot more fun than just buying something.
