It's so simple, but a Western developer LITERALLY is unable to do that, and all their protagonists are fucking ugly as sin (see Horizon).

All i can say is that from the 20 games i bought this gen, the only western games are doom, witcher3 and uncharted 4, the rest is all made in japan

I'm having trouble remembering when I last bought a western game. They just aren't very good. Nobody takes risks, everyone designs everything with diversity and inclusion in mind leaving everything sprawled out everywhere, afraid to offend someone or something. It's really narrow of you to make the assumption that having attractive casts is somehow pandering. Years back, you could make a character very attractive and not be punished for it for not catering to people who are less attractive for mediums. It's nearly conditioning. Western devs value cinematic and "woke" experiences that allow them to virtue signals their beliefs in the most bland easy to play games possible. Challenging games wouldn't let people see how woke the story is so that's a no no.

Western games are shit because Western studios actually sacrifice budget to hire fucking useless community managers and they also advertise far more than Japanese game studios.
Like Microsoft spent more money on Halo commercials than the actual Halo games for example.

Also, Western developers are much more attentionwhore than Japanese developers and get influenced by social media much more than Japanese devs.
The only real reason I like japanese games more is because of the more precise, mechanical control schemes in action games. Western controls are more 'broad strokes' or 'fluid' where your performance won't be as consistent. That's why western developers have never made good fighting games. I think the only genre where the west compares to Japan is racing games, because car autism is universal.
For me I think they just make more well rounded games. Yakuza 0 is better than any western game I have played recently and it probably doesn't even have half the budget. West is on a larger scale of money making so they tend to latch on to the trends which is why you see ubisoft and other studios making the same game 5 times until it flops. There isn't as much room for creativity here as the big wigs just wanna maximize profits.

Aside from autism simulator games I really don't play Western games. I never have, they are too dark, too bloody, too Hollywood. Of course there are edgy Japanese games too, I don't play those either. When Western devs try to do fun colorful games they always feel like pic related to me.
