I dont since I have zero interest in it.
What's the point? Sure I'm interested in Forza...and...uh...Halo I guess? Gears kinda blows...so...
What the FUCK do people play on an Xbone? At least PS4 has games like Yakuza, Horizon, and Bloodborne.
599
Laugh because it's not doing 4k at 60 FPS for that price. Double it and you're being realistic.
>It's Forza! Foooooorrrrzzzzzaaa! Remember that one?
I reacted when they showed xbone with dropping xbox and switching to PC.
That's why it's sold so shit in comparison to ps4 really.
Your questions could be repeated but on X1's side.
>What the FUCK do people play on PS4? At least X1 has Halo, Gears and Froza.
it's either this or the ps4 pro if i want to play read dead 2 and all evidence seems to suggest this console will deliver actual 4k visuals and not shitty upscaling like the og xbox one and ps4 pro.
i'll get it whatever the price. i'm not missing out on the game of the generation.
most people aren't playing yakuza and bloodborne
shit like horizon has more appeal. it's the normies they're going after. your jap shit doesn't matter. it's just window dressing.
600$ for children's toy?
This. Remember that Yoshida said he faced quite a bit of internal resistance when he wanted to commission From for what would become Bloodborne, because "the hardcore audience aren't profitable enough".
Except all those games you mentioned for the xbox are steaming hot garbage.
Halo 3 was the last good halo and the other 2 are way too overrated cause theyre heavily marketed
"No games"
>That's why it's sold so shit in comparison to ps4 really
No, PS4 sold better because it was marketed more. Majority of console players play fifa and cod not your obscure jap games
Just buy a PC
great, I will preorder it because I am not a poorfag
All the games will be available on PC so this will basically be a steambox without steam.
And PS4 was cheaper than Xbone on release.
I still can't believe Microsoft done this. Surely they should know that the cheaper shit is to more people buy it
It's XBox. There's not a lot games I want now, I fail to see how upping the parts make me want it more.
The same way I did to the psquadruplepro: apathy.
"High end" consoles is a stupid concept. Nobody seems to remember the disaster that was the 3DO. Console owners don't want to see their market bifurcated anymore than it is. Developers can't be relied upon to make sure each platform performs adequately.
i remember reading some article on one of these leak websites and they were saying before the release that the head guys at MS were pressuring the xbox division because it wasn't profitable enough and also because it wasn't marketing the windows platform enough. they were basically forced by their investors to make a product which (to their mind) was going to be much more profitable and cater to a diverse market and also utilize widows. this is why they had a big focus on media and not just games like the 360 or og xbox before it. also it came out with some shitty gamer optimized version of windows 8 which was fucking tragic in every way because it was slow as sin and the snap functionality was gimmicky and never really worked.
if you listen to phil spencers recent discussions about the scorpio he addresses both of those and says says specifically they they made the scorpio powerful like it should have been and he literally said just a few days ago that they've finally rebuilt the OS to how that should have been too. the fact he mentioned these two things specifically means that those leaks 3 years ago were probably correct.
i kind of feel like microsoft wanted to push forward, but met resistance immediately.
i probably would've liked a microsoft xbox with the proposed drm if it eventually shared it's library with pc. if microsoft could've pulled off the steambox and made it successful, that would've been kind of sweet.
being able to buy physical, but keep your content digital would be awesome for console shit. if you could resell your physical and revoke your digital, then it would be the best thing ever.
>FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE YOU ES DOLLARS
>just to play sea of thieves in native 4k
Never thought i would get to witness something like the ps3 launch ever again. Heres hoping the shitposting is just as fun as before.
Wrong.
The PS3 launch was such a spectacle because it was expensive AND a massive piece of shit to program for as a developer. It nogaemes for a long time until middleware devs finally abstracted away the nonsense that was the Cell processor. Kutaragi was rightfully fired for his antics. The Scopio is just a beefier xbone and Microsoft's dev tools are first rate.
The PS3 eventually caught up in sales with the 360 despite coming out a year late, being ridiculously expensive, pretty much all multiplats performing worse on it, and the online being worse.
It's true that PS4's initial sales explosion was due to the xbone shooting itself in the foot out of the gate, but in the long-term a steady supply of exclusives that appeal to multiple demographics also matters. That has hurt every xbox so far, and considering the xbone has neither the initial advantage this time or long-term support, it's hard to get excited about anything they do.
Reach is the last good HALO by far
Scorpio is part of Microsoft's plan to kill the PC as we know it. If you do go with Windows 10 expect much the same user experience (or even a worse user experience) than what you'd get with the Scorpio.
There is no point in xbox now. Scorpio will be canceled.
the scorpio has the hype advantage. it seems like everyone is hyped about the prospect of 4k and 4k gaming in general. MS seems to be leaching off sony's ps4 pro 4k hype as well. if there wasn't this level of hype to market the xbox scorpio with then it wold truly be dead.
i think we'll be seeing some good competition from MS with the scorpio and its capabilities. i wouldn't be surprised if people jump ship to the scorpio from the ps4 either. i know i did when the ps3 came out and there was all the hate around worse multiplats. i traded my ps3 for a 08 phat hdmi 360 and i still have it today. probably my best decision ever. the 360 was by far the best console that gen, for me anyway.
Who cares, it could be free but there's still no games. XBONE tripped and fell from the start line, they should go back to focusing on PC, I mean all the 'exclusives' are for PC and XBONE anyway so there is literally no reason to purchase one.
If it's not half-pc it's dead.
I own Xbone S and 4k TV.
There are two scenarios. If there will be 2TB version like in case of XboneS launch I'll grab it.
If not, I'll wait out until first good bundle.
>implying people care about pc
it took me months to convince my friend to upgrade his pc and even after he did, he still plays his console every day and he hasn't been online on pc in 12 days. i would bet my house on the average casual buying this than buying a pc even if it's prebuilt and requires no extra effort to use other than double clicking an .exe to start his games.
Sony have now mentioned they intend to compete with PC but the problem is exclusives can't negate the sheer power advantage and convince PC gamers to downgrade to PS4 or PS4 owners to migrate to PC. Over the last few years they have been gradually losing exclusives and Sony's original intentions of collaborating with Valve on the PS4 disappeared when Jack Tretton left the company.
Sony's picking a fight they can't hope to win. Especially since the Pro patch for Dark Souls 3 has shown that Bloodborne at 60FPS is an impossibility even at 1080P. Eventually people will get tired of Sony making promises they can't keep and walling off content just to make the increasingly underpowered console attractive while Microsoft goes after customisable experience where you can "Game anywhere" and Nintendo goes after a hybrid experience that will only get better with time as Nvidia invests more in their mobile processors and creates a unique experience.
Remember. Sony's hardware profits were only 5% of the Playstation division last year. Investors are going to increasingly ask why they are in hardware when they are getting skinned and the biggest gaming company in the world is a Chinese company with fingers in the pie everywhere and ruminating launching a console themselves.
Oh i'm not disputing that. I own PC/PS4/WiiU and will get a Switch if they release MH for it (the only reason I bought a WiiU) and I would say 90% of my gaming is on PS4.
so even though you said there's no reason for anyone to get one... you just gave a reason why most people would get one, lol.
Xbox is fucked for good. Anybody who wanted a console already picked up a PS4 or a pro and people who play on PC won't pick it up anyway.
It's too little too late.
Disappointed because I was expecting $450
$600 price tag is the death of this console. Normies won't pay that price no matter how many buzzwords you throw out there as seen by the PS3 launch
But can you reverse the target and say?
...since you can play them on PC aswell anyway
i still don't have a ps4 and i want a console. i'm going to buy this just to play RDR2 in 4k and so are most people i know. i already have a cheap AOC 4k monitor on the way and i'll get my preorder once it becomes available because i know this will sell out asap.
times are a bit different theyll probably add some 'free' online services for a while and some shity games from 2014 or somethin bundled up
Why would you build an expensive PC when you can play the same games on a cheap console? That's the real question
>5% of profits are hardware
Its not about making money on hardware but making sure as many people buy it as their default console. Vast majority of their profits come taking a small cut out of gta5 and sports games through their ps store.
Because you effectively need a pc in this day an age.
Why not just make a better PC than have a shit one AND a console?
Sony's fighting an uphill battle against Nintendo and PC. Xbox leaving would be the worst scenario possible because that auidence will migrate to PC instead of Playstation and the casual normie crowd will go to Switch. PS4 isn't that interesting to normies any more. Uncharted 4 sold 2.7 million copies at launch then went completely static in sales till Sony started force bundling it in. Unbundled, it sold worse than Splatoon and even with bundles it sold worse than Mario Kart 8. Horizon will meet the same fate.
People only buy Nintendo consoles for exclusives. Remove the competition in the home console segment and Sony is completely fucked because the market will turn significantly more aggressive against them and it's very likely Tencent or Samsung will enter the space and start throwing around obscene amounts of money.
Imagine how fucked Sony would be if Samsung made a console and made a billion dollar deal with EA to have FIFA and Madden be exclusive to their Galaxy console? It would be brutal as fuck watching Sony die.
>Because you effectively need a pc in this day an age.
except you don't tho. consoles are offering more and more pc games and there are some pc games coming to the xbox soon too. i'm a massive fan of gaming on pc and all the hardware side of things but i'm sorry to say that devs don't give a shit about pc as much as console. most games from the last year have had broken on dodgy ports on release with some taking months to fix.
Quite the contrary, actually. Smart phones are capable of doing most things you'd need for daily use unless your job involves a computer. I'm even shitposting from my phone right now.
I don't even use emulators on my computer anymore. It's mostly on my phone and psp
I dunno. Normies like seeing big numbers, but they can't actually tell the difference. They'll buy TVs with frame interpolation that advertise 120-240hz without knowing anything about it. They'll buy a 4k TV and watch/play 720p and 1080p content and think it was a great purchase.
The PS4 Pro was an incredibly smart move because normies don't know any better and the hardware means it can actually be sold at a reasonable price. And it also meant getting it out super early. Every day that the Scorpio isn't out is hurting it. Microsoft better have something outstanding to show at E3 this year.
>2017
>microsoft still wants to conquer gaming
>EA
>making one of their biggest franchises console exclusive
>one of the biggest money makers they have that funds all of their other dysfunction
The next stock meeting would be shareholders having the flaming crucifixion of Andrew Wilson and Larry Probst if something utterly retarded like that were to happen.
What is the point of buying game consoles over and over again? You re-buy the cpu, the ram, the motherboard, the power supply, the case, the video card, the wireless card, and the storage every time, even though technological progress on some of these items does not warrant buying them multiple times. Cpu progress has slowed down so much that a gaming cpu from 2013 is still good enough to play pretty much any game today. Cutting edge ram is only more power efficient, and does not offer any performance boosters past 1600 mhz. Hard drives and solid state drives can easily be re-used until they break, there is no hard cutoff at the 5 year mark where you have to replace it. Pci express 3 has been around for 6 years, so you don't need to upgrade the motherboard to be compatible with the new video card. New motherboards only add support for new part parts, but, if you don't need new parts, what is the point in a new motherboard?
>it seems like everyone is hyped about the prospect of 4k and 4k gaming in general
No?
4k gaming has as much hype as 3d gaming. There are no games exclusive to scorpio either. I just dont know anyone thats willing to pay 600 dollars or above to play the next fifa18 in 4k. There has to be something gameplay wise to get people hyped.
>i'm going to buy this just to play RDR2 in 4k and so are most people i know
Oh, look, it's unverifiable "all people I know share my opinion" anecdotal evidence
Skip it, barely use my regular Xbone as is
>Sony's picking a fight they can't hope to win. Especially since the Pro patch for Dark Souls 3 has shown that Bloodborne at 60FPS is an impossibility even at 1080P.
this is a good point. however i've been predicting for a long time based on all these people saying how much the scorpio is made for gaming (even the gamestop ceo said that he was impressed with its "gaming capabilites" yesterday" that it'll come with dynamic sync support. i honestly believe MS with include freesync support with the scorpio and that would help A LOT with fps drops. there a thousands of freesync monitors on the market today ranging from 1080p all the way till 4k. it won't cost a penny for MS to implement either since it's a feature of the HDMI 2.0 standard and the vega architecture of the scorpio also has features to aid with freesync support and compatibility for HDR.

>Game Mode VRR which allows for variable refresh rates (VRR) for more fluid motion in games
i hope tv manufacturers start implementing this because it's royalty free, adds no extra cost but will make gaming so much better. it would make tv's much more popular as opposed to monitors.
In Microsoft's view Scorpio IS 'a better PC' because its one that won't run Steam and is locked to their approved software.
yesterday) *
Frankly it's too late.
There might be a handful of games the truly would utilize the Scorpio, but generally speaking, developers accommodate the lowest common denominator.
It's quite easier for a developer to release the game on the PS4 Pro and Scoprio and simply say, 'it has a better framerate' than to actually add anything meaningful.
I am being a hypocrite though since I bought a Pro.
how is it "unverifiable". the logic is perfectly simple, why would any pc player who is used to high res and framerates go for something like a gimped ps4 pro running at 1081p upscaled to 4k when a better 4k machine exists?
let me guess, you tell people to buy the ps4 over xbox one s because of better res and fps in most games yet you're now saying the xbox is pointless and the ps4 pro is better despite being commonly accepted as a gimped 4k machine with shit resolution and tragic fps which is even worse than base ps4 sometimes.
The vast majority of users never change the software or the hardware that comes with their PC.
Modern consoles aren't built from discrete components the way a typical gaming PC is, they're built around bargain basement SOC hardware, this lowers the price of production substantially why build a system for $400 + time and effort, when $300 gets you a complete system ready to go.
Alienware and Valve have tried to reverse this with the Steam Machine, but so far the requirement of Intel and Nvidia hardware has kept the price too high.
>Sony's hardware profits were only 5% of the Playstation division last year
Who cares? Playstation has never made a lot of money on hardware. It's about locking people into the ecosystem so that they buy software and services.
Well, that's the inherent problem for Sony. They NEED Microsoft to stay in because they are a manageable opponent. EA Shareholders would be making a golden, Bejewelled statue of Larry Probst, not crucifying him because Samsung has the money to spend and if they could offset the loss of PS4 copy sales for their glorified HTPC then EA will take that. Especially since Samsung has a way higher chance of breaking the China market while Sony has barely made any headway at all after two years.
House would be screwed, sure. But that's what you get for putting a marketer in charge just because he speaks fluent Japanese instead of based Big Jack Tretton who produced nearly every SCE game in the 90's, was cutting deals with Valve even after Gabe Newell's comments about the PS3 and knew the business like the back of his hand.
Analyists are believing PS4 is going to start capping out this year and likely lifetime around 70-80 million as well so Sony needs MS to do well with Scorpio so they can justify a competitive market and push above the 80 million mark. If Scorpio is a flop, then the console market will bottom out and either take Sony with it or allow a new entry that is better than Sony and has more cash and market reach than Sony like Samsung. Never mind even more people jumping to PC gaming so it becomes an even more dominant ecosystem.
It's an amusing situation really. Watching people cheering Scorpio to flop is like Turkeys voting for Thanksgiving. If it does, the next console crash is a coming.
Not the person youre replying to but the difference in price between ps4 and xbone was 100 at launch and now its close to 50 which is fairly minor. However if the scorpio is 600 and the pro is 400 which will probably go down to 350 due to a lacklustre launch the difference in price does become noticable. Its not a fair comparison.
EA would never make any of their sports games exclusive and fifa wouldnt allow any of their fifa games to not be on any playstation. Its too popular in europe.
>EA would never make any of their sports games exclusive
they do tho. fifa legends is an xbox exclusive and xbox have all the marketing rights to it. every youtuber plays fifa on xbox solely because of fifa legends being an xbox exclusive.
And meanwhile nintendo just doesnt give a fuck.
same. xbox is on life support this gen.
Pretty much only the Forza games are worthwhile. Recore was terrible, DR4 was extremely disappointing, Halo hasn't been good since 3, Gears hasn't been good (well, decent) since 2, Killer Instinct and Quantum Break are both mediocre. I traded mine in after it sat collecting dust for most of the three years I had it.
>FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE US DOLLARS
>exclusive card game
Thats the best it will ever get though. The games themselves will never be exclusive.
enjoy text editing on a smartphone... oh I'm sorry you're probably a manlet so your phone to you is what a 50'' TV is to me.
I'm not talking about a steam machine. Getting a Steam Machine requires that you buy all the parts again, even if you already own them. Because the OS is free, if you re-use your parts, getting a "new" steam machine costs $0.
It doesn't matter what the initial price is to me. I'm not going to get it day one. It will be at least a year or more before I even consider getting one, if I ever do.
>PS4 isn't that interesting to normies any more.
Is that why it keeps selling truckloads each month?
Oh wait I'm responding to shitposting nvm
true but fifa ultimate team is literally why people buy fifa. it has massive influence over what platform people would buy the game on. it would be equivalent to ps4 getting exclusivity for all the cod maps and for them to never come out on xbox.
*but there is no point in using the Steam OS, because valve specifies that linux games should be developed to work on Ubuntu.
Freesync supporti s a bit pointless at this stage - if there is a push for HDR that means any given display supporting freesync 2 (as you do want the best of both worlds right?) and right now not a single screen has been announced that supports the spec.
You don't seem to understand son.
People use PCs for things other than games.
Why not just put in a more powerful card so you can have 1 thing that does many.
But the ps4 version is still selling more.
because most casuals don't care about "one thing that does many". that's literally the reason they bought consoles and literally the reason they bought the ps4 over the xbox
...
Sony has to promo PES because of Sony and Konami's UEFA deals, anyway. They can't get FIFA because of pre-existing contractual obligations with UEFA.
See you next month when Switch wins the NPD's, senpai
>. Especially since the Pro patch for Dark Souls 3 has shown that Bloodborne at 60FPS is an impossibility even at 1080P
It is possible, you just need competent developers. Battlefront runs 900p60fps on PS4 and it shits on Bloodborne in every possible way.
FROM is simply way to fucking incompetent to properly optimize their games. That is why FROM games look like a PS3 game and run at 30fps with drops.
>FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE US DOLLARS
I'm actually expecting around a $600- $700 price tag, but I don't expect it to sell unless they have one hell of a set of exclusives.
probably true in terms of physical sales (because vgchartz isn't displaying xbox one fifa physical sales) but we don't know how many people are playing the game via ea access on the xbox which seems to be insanely popular. hell, gamestop stocks dropped like crazy when ea access came out.
RIIIIIIDGE RAAACEEEER
it will be 400-500 dollar. RX480 as a GPU.
>one hell of a set of exclusives.
Apparently it will since GS was talking about how fucking great its gonna be from what they've seen, but its most likely they are just trying to shill the hell out if it.
They're still following the Embrace, Extend, and Extinguish mantra?
I dont think theres ever been a single fifa game that sold better on xbox.
what about hdmi > display port adapter?
i still think they'll include it just because they can for very little, or no extra cost. they have talked about "future proofing" repeatedly so it wouldn't be surprising either. amd are also trying to push freesync as opposition to gysnc so this would be their perfect opportunity in a mass produced console.
i'm an nvidia owner but i have to admit that freesync is definitely a more attractive option since it offers basically the same experience as gsync but for much cheaper and with the potential for much wider support and through multiple methods (display port, hdmi).
it's already known to be ~6 TFLOPS (fp32), which is just a hair above a fucking RX 480, a ~$200 card. maybe Vega magic will help, but it can't do miracles.
the next HDMI will have the equivalent of FreeSync built in. G-sync is a walking dead man already.
