Its March, and as our Release Date Trailer revealed a while back, it is release month!
When we last made an Update in October, we talked about how we could rush a release date of December 2016, but wanted to have a few extra months to really make sure that the game was polished and felt like something we could be proud of releasing, so we came up with a March Release Window.
That extra time has been invaluable to the project, and as things were being put into a final release state (Sound, Animations, Gameplay) we felt a great amount of joy and satisfaction in seeing everything in Routine really come to life. However, there was one thing we never felt clicked, and that was one of our paths.
Routine has always had two ways to progress through the game, each with their own unique endings, but we never quite knew how they would feel until the game content & experience was really polished up and playable as one solid, consistent, experience.
We made the call at the end of January that our second path was just not as strong as the other. If you follow us on twitter you may have noticed over these last two months that we’ve been very inactive, and the reason has been that we’ve just crunched like crazy to try and hit that March Release date. It’s looking like we just can’t do that, there are still a few things that require our attention. You have waited almost 5 years for Routine, and we want to make sure that what we give you in the end is nothing short of the best we can give you. We’re genuinely sorry to announce this small delay, but we feel like the last thing we want to do is disappoint all of the people that given us their love, support and kindness, by releasing something that didn’t feel complete.
We only get to release Routine once, and we want to make sure we do it right. We don’t expect the delay to add more than a month or two and when we next update, we promise to finally give you a clear release date with a game that we are proud of.
delayed again
>mfw shills aren't even trying to be creative anymore
its sad that when the trailer for this game came out
it was something new, interesting, it had an artstyle that noone used yet, and the chromatic aberation wasnt abused to fucking hell
now its too late
theres way too many games that have look technically more impressive and have done this shitty artstyle
How long has this game been in development for? I remember seeing it years ago
5 years.
It's coming out the same day as Barkley 2.
Damn, it sucks they can't get the game out in time. I'm still a bit hyped though, it looks great.
I don't think we've had a survival horror game in space in awhile.
...
...
>we were sitting on our hands
>i guess we should start working
>delay for 2 more months, maybe, maybe more, depends on how good that taco truck is
tl;dr
>We underestimated the workload and are delaying the release to prevent bad reviews on our currently still-bad game so you will shill it in a better light for us to make more money so we can do it again.
Pretty sure its vaporware. The devs come up with gay lityle excuses that "we are still working on it so hard that we cant even update you". It doesnt take much to look at the gazillion other games that are released in early access that pretty much claim the same shit. But, at least those devs avtually releasss their game albeit a shitty version of whatever it was supposed to be. Modern steam is fucking cancer
They didn't strike while the iron was hot. It was announced back when scifi\cyberpunk horror wasn't making a resurgence, but now we have Alien Isolation, SOMA, some indie shit I'm forgetting, a System Shock "remake", possibly the legit System Shock 3, etc.
It's not the novelty it once was, and maybe they know that.
this
ive been saying that everytime a routine threads comes up
You're right.
I'm still down for killer androids in a neo-80s abondoned/decrepit human facility setting.
As am I assuming it's done well, but my enthusiasm for the concept of Routine was based on the fact that the niche wasn't filled when it was first announced.
it's been delayed a 1-2 months
>the fact that the niche wasn't filled
it is now?
I played Alien Isolation and Soma and I still want more.
Compared to when the game was announced, yes.
name 3 more games like the other 2 I posted
*released within the past 5 years
That is wrong tho. In 1-2 months they will give final release date, which can be months away.
You're so right it that it hurts. If this were released years ago it would have been great. When it eventually does come out, playing it will probably just feel like a weaker Alien:Isolation/RE7
First person cyberpunk?
Solarix
Deus Ex revivals
Neon Struct
there's more if we include shitty fps games, or point and click cyberpunk.
>Solarix
That game was so shit :(
We have Rain World
I went to uni with Aaron (Uclan in Preston). He was an almost obsessed perfectionist. I don't expect them to release it until he's fully satisfied (likely never).
>atmospheric
It is a shame. They could've gotten part of an unexplored market. Still, if its good, its good. If its only saving grace had been "one of the first to try it" then it would've bombed either way.
Still hyped desu and I'm not too disappointed about the new delay since I have NieR: Automata, Dark Souls III DLC and New Vegas to keep me busy.
Lets just hope they kept their eyes open and took some notes from Alien: Isolation & SOMA and try to perfect the concept/setting/gameplay.
This is true, and I'm still holding out for it to be solid.
I'm still looking forward to it. Hope they extra month or two can iron out the issues they've had with the second story path they have
That's my hope. I'm okay with one last delay, and since this isn't some big studio I understand their inability to constantly keep fans informed, even if it spells their downfall in terms of making bank assuming the game is good.
Somewhat unrelated but this game also doesn't have a release date. There are few games I'm somewhat hyped for or just curious to play and these futuristic/cyberpunk games being delayed is pure daily pain.
I am referring to the neo-80s revival of the horror genre, not simply neo-80s
