Say what you want about Kojima, but MGS2 was scarily accurate in predicting the future

Say what you want about Kojima, but MGS2 was scarily accurate in predicting the future.

Makes you wonder who it was that wrote that passage tho.

He just picked up a few books on societal analysis, he didn't do anything on his own.
No, memekazu memeshima didn't do shit either.

That's literally just a twist on memes, and I don't mean today's shitposting memes, but what Dawkins meant when he came up with the term.

But yeah, society is in a downwards spiral and we're all fucked.

I just checked, but was it actually Kojima that wrote that?

The wikipedia for Fukushima says he was the scripter for codec calls.

>everyone returns to their own community
>no one is invalidated, but no one is right either

so is this what he meant? people just say "screw it," and go home to have sex and worry less about being right or wrong?

in reality, Kojima had just seen a TV documentary about the growing internet culture trends of Japan at the time, on which he based MGS2's "predictions". Nips were a whole decade ahead of us westerners when it comes to socializing on the net, sharing everything and anything online, and especially doing all that on cellphones.

Fancy ways of saying "delusional morons circlejerk to their own believes, and don't even interact with differing ideas". As in, truth is chosen, not validated.

He helped with codecs, nothing more, that's why the codec pretty much disappeared after MGS3

But the codec was an excellent delivery method for prolonged exposition. Did the series lose something when they did away with it?

Or is it just that we got a fuckton more cutscene instead?

I'll admit it, I'm not a dumb person, I got a Masters degree in Law, but I have no fucking clue how the story of MGS2 fits together and what it wants to convey as a whole. I feel like people are forcefully interpreting things that aren't there into it.

To me it seems like cheeky 4th wall breaky with no deeper meaning.

It's a commentary on how humans war on one another because they have always warred on one another, not for any particular reason or meaning.

War is a meme. The Patriots were trying to stop that meme via control. Most of the time you're just fighting because the game tells you that you have to.

>cheeky 4th wall breaky

That sounds cute.

well shit i wanted to park my meat in that girl's fat butt but she's too concerned about being right/wrong so I guess I'll just stick to my own circle jerk

World is a fuck, born to die, over one billion confirmed nuts.

Also there's another piece of media that kind of does this conversation better instead of relying on the image. It's better if you play the game because contextually you meet people from all walks of life, so you understand what he means when he says all that stuff later in the game. Reading it out of context is kind of hard, especially to get a good grasp on the meaning behind it. What he's saying is that memetic culture is a figure by which humans have created out of necessity for communication and understanding, to a machine, these kind of things just get in the way. "Is the dress blue or brown," "What does it feel like to suck dick high," "Has science gone too far," these kinds of questions are paralyzing to GW and force it into creative submission where it can't do anything but observe. So instead, it chooses to get rid of information like this from the web, elegantly providing autosuggestion to the American populace so life can move along much more smoothly and elegantly. He does this by arguing that no one cares anyway and life is completely wonton. Hence the quote no one is invalidated, but no one is correct either.

If you just read the image then it's like the villain has no primary motive other than creating the ultimate race of humans. But if you play the game, you can understand the perspective of GW as an A.I.

>Say what you want about Kojima
Ok.
He is secretly building a doomsday machine underground that's powered by cockroach blood designed to rob the world of all clouds.

It's not even that deep or hard to understand. Is it that easy to get a masters degree today?

When did the Patriots get formed?

Was Outer heaven produced as the anti-thesis of the Patriots?

Never played 4 or 5 so I apologise if they got answered there.

Kojima did not fucking write this.

And it's called Norman Reedus.

Fucking 5 star post.

I have to share my faculty with sociology fags in and I'm not over-exaggerating that all they have to do to pass certain classes is had in a 300 word paper on what they thought about the class in a certain time frame. It's a joke.

but i read most of the books in my room and nothing's changed

All 4 and 5 do is retcon shit to make it kind of work with mgs2. Seems pretty clear that these things where never supposed to go anywhere else afterwards.

>Steal everything from a Japanese sociologist
>WOAH DUDE HE PREDICTED THE FUTURE

...

>When did the Patriots get formed?
After 3 and your codec contacts were the forming members.
>Was Outer heaven produced as the anti-thesis of the Patriots?
Not really that. Just a different interpretation of The Boss' vision, at least he told us that in MGS4. It was really just more of his own vision mixed with a perverted version of what The Boss said.

>but what Dawkins meant

When did it all go so terribly, terribly wrong? It's all gone to shit. I heard a kid on the bus the other week use the word "triggering", as in, "Do you know what I find so triggering?" I expect he uses "memes" unironically, too.

Brb, suicide.

Wait, how can Big boss tell you that? I thought he was burnt to a crisp in Metal Gear 2

metal gear 2 is long after mgs3. and you find him as a vegetable in 4 after what happened in mg2.

Because that wasn't big boss.

I remember seeing someone link to an old forum post where edward snowden was defending Solidus snake because he was against the patriots.

What other games pulled the same kind of mindfuckery that mgs2 did?

Isn't major zero the vegetable in 4? Big Boss dies from Fox die after he kills zero in the cemetery.
