Is it just me or does this thing look like a fucking dog?

what

Oh, that won't do at all. Don't listen to him, Executor, the fool knows nothing of strategy.

Tal'darim mission packs when?

Two hours until that brood war event with taekbangleessang. Do you think Blizzard will announce anything?

Oy vey goy, there are new and improved unit skins about to be released! Be sure to purchase them and show off your amazing army on the battlefield!

Was that supposed to be a mouth or something, did they even HAVE mouths

Alarak is literally the only good thing Blizzard ever did. And I bet it's only because John De Landie ad libbed all his lines for them.

No mouths on the protoss. They communicate through telepathy or something like that.

>Realize awhile back that as much as I loved SC1 as a kid, I never beat it without cheats.
>Vow to do that.
>Beat base game without much trouble.
>Get to half way through Brood war also with little issue.
>Past half way point it turns into hell.

Christ, this shit is far more obnoxious then 2 on hard. WoL on hard was piss easy aside from The Dig and the final mission.

What mission are you stuck on?

Currently trying to assault Mengsk on Korhal as the UED with me having taken out his nukes on the last mission. I'm not "stuck" per say but missions are taking me a long ass time with my bases constantly getting assulted and having to send multiple waves to clear out a base.

It's not a mouth, it's a dark patch of scaly skin. I wondered what that was for many years until I finally figured it out.

Honestly that's what I enjoyed the most in BW. Some of those missions could take hours to finish. Was so disappointed in SC2 that all missions were so short.

>They communicate through telepathy
Then why wouldn't their dialog be exclusively in one's primary language? Like, if I hear a Protoss say "my life for Aiur" shouldn't I hear them say "in memory of" instead of "en taro"?

En Taro X makes a better battle cry then In Memory of X.

You posted Colonel Campbell though, OP

This is Jimmy.

Sounds fun

CARRIER HAS ARRIVED

SC1 Protoss were really great - mysterious, wise, and alien, as reflected in their unit responses, building sounds, and other sound effects.
By SC2 all that was gone, instead was replaced by "hurr epic psychic warrior species look how epic we are, aren't we just epic"

What the fuck was his problem?

>By SC2 all that was gone, instead was replaced by "hurr epic psychic warrior species look how epic we are, aren't we just epic"

This trailer was pretty stabil though, you have to admit

youtube.com/watch?v=M_XwzBMTJaM

The Legacy of the Void campaign could've been great. Finally a chance to experience protoss culture and traditions in glorious 3D graphics.

Instead we got generic kindergarten tier writing. Artanis' and Zeratul's characters were completely ruined.

>BLOW ME! BLOW ME!
Why did they hire raimi to direct that scene?

Artanis I understand (although I enjoyed how optimistic he was) but how was Zeratul ruined?

I don't know about that.

It looks good, but aside from that it's just an "epic" action setpiece with little to no emotion or thought put into it.

Also not a fan of those super-agile zealots. In SC1 the protoss were pretty awkward and lanky. What made them good in combat was their super advanced technology. And I get it that they looked bizarre and a tad silly at times due to the limitations of the time, but those limitations actually made them more interesting in my opinion.

Was he a Ghost? How did he pass all that training if all he did was get scared?

Probably just a civilian, like in the camp scene.

Didn't you play the campaigns? He's reduced to a prophecy droning mongoloid. His dialogue was terrible, "JAMES RAYNOR, I BRING TIDINGS OF DOOOOOOM", the new voice actor they got for him couldn't hold a candle to the former one and everything that made him great in SC1 was completely removed.

In HotS he gets beaten up by Kerrigan and thrown around in an anime battle, and although he was forced to take the life of his Matriarch because of Kerrigan, he just goes along with it because of MUH PROPHECY.

Then he just dies in another anime battle in Legacy.

His character was assassinated in SC2. He's just there to spew rubbish about some ancient prophecy and die, that's all he's there for.

Fire it up!

Good point.

Smokin'

Doesn't the psychic noise produced by a large Zerg presence overstimulate psi-sensitive individuals or something?
Maybe I'm getting my 40k mixed with my SC here.

Raynor here

Zeratul in SC2 is not a character, he's a walking plot device with a name. Any motivations he had before are gone, preservation of his race and Aiur, gone, revenge against Kerrigan for forcing him to kill his Matriarch? Double gone. His only motivation, and character, is the asinine prophecy he got wrong anyways.

Why in holy fuck, would he want to make Kerrigan stronger in HotS? He should have teleported behind her and warp bladed her head off. But muh prophecy that Kerrigan is suddenly the center of, despite in WoL, Zeratul said blank to Kerrigan she was in the prophecy but not the end of it.

Are you tryin to get invited to my next barbecue?

Kerrigan didn't have a problem with that on New Gettysburg.

>the new voice actor they got for him couldn't hold a candle to the former one
RIP Zeratul's VA ;_;7
That dude was amazing.

Come to think of it, Zeratul died with him as well.

>Why in holy fuck, would he want to make Kerrigan stronger in HotS?

Because it got retconned that her evilness was due to the Zerg infestation all along and not her being Queen Bitch of the Universe of her own free will like Broodwar said and that she was actually a good person.

>His character was assassinated in SC2
What character wasn't?

Need a lighter?

SC2 can't even decide for itself if it was Kerrigan acting on her own, or if there was an evil, alter ego of Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades. It was only Raynor who was telling Kerrigan that it wasn't actually her when she kill Fenix and betrayed and killed those people. Kerrigan herself doubts this, but being the total bitch that she is, can't feel any real remorse about murdering innocent people.

And when other terran and protoss bring this up, they either just don't care that a mass murderer is in the room, or they can't act because the asinine plot demands that they can't, as Amon is just so badass and strong they need all the help they can get to stop him.

>when you finish an episode and youtube.com/watch?v=9Wun6U6pqMA starts playing

It just feels so good.

Have any questions about propane?

...Or propane accessories?

>mfw I remember some guy saying that he thought the story was amazing

Having the campaigns split up into three different games really did a number on the story and gameplay.

>missions in HotS being so short and easy, even on brutal, compared to the WoL ones
>writing somehow manages to get worse as the games get released
>tal'darim go from being generic teal protoss to edgelord red protoss
>then Legacy stops being an actual RTS game with enemy bases just being there for show and the game literally begging you to not attack them and realize you're just fighting off spawned enemy waves instead of an actual opponent

Even in SC1 they acted like pompous elitist dicks, and thats why they fucked up on getting the zerg off Aiur

>the ominous feeling after finishing brood war
The nostalgia, god damn

Nah, more just Zerg are attracted to high psi individuals

>Dark Templar tries to do her fancy double scythe bullshit.
>Breaks it in half.
>"You think you can deceive us so easily?"
>"Yes, but that is irrelevant."
Do we even need any other Protoss?

So was Kerrigan or Nova considered the better ghost?

Their xenophobia and the Conclave's stubbornness was part of what made them so great.

Didn't really like how Artanis was welcoming and friendly towards everybody in LotV. I mean he's pretty chill even with the fucking Tal'darim of all people.

They hammer it in hella hard in the Nova novels that she is not Kerrigan, and that she is inferior to Kerrigan in every way.

Truly, Kerrigan is the Jean Grey to StarCraft as Nova is its Emma Frost.

Kerrigan had a better Psi rating iirc, basically had to rewrite the psi chart just to fit her

Kerrigan.

Nova's just some slut from a cancelled game that everybody spergs over because she's got the looks. Then Blizzard took notice of her growing fanbase and decided to throw in some fanservice in SC2.

YALL NIGGAS

the BWHD announcement event/BW legends showmatch starts in about 20 minutes
get fucking hyped

there's a thread up

Are any of the books worth reading?

Kerrigan was always the better ghost, she is the "chosen one" after all

Battle cruiser, operational.

>gooksports
No thanks famalamadingdong.
>BWHD
>modern day Blizzard
NO.

the ones that died in brood war
well, except for fenix, apparently
and stukov
and duran
...
shit

*giggle* I'm waiting on YOU

Im still salty that the voice modulation on Protoss wasnt the same in SC2 as SC and BW, SC2 just feels like a shitty reverb slapped on

It still baffles me that they made Stukov's infestation and curing canon. If Artantis has an infestation cure, why not share it with Jim?

Unpopular opinion here: I think Brood War was garbage and was the real start of the cancer, not SC2. Although SC2 was garbage in its own right, Brood War turned Kerrigan into this unkillable mary sue who magically outsmarts everyone because MUH GRRRRRRRL POWAH.

UED should've murdered everyone.

youtube.com/watch?v=vAJaEq-3Vb8

>SCII comes out
>can't wait for that music
>it sucks
God dammit why did Terran have to turn cowboy? Get that shit out of my background music

Just if you really like the SC1-BW lore.

I liked one where it showcases a bunch of marines that set an alarm for help (which in turn, is the cue for one of the missions in SC1 that you play in to help colonists being raided by the zerg). It's short, has some ok interaction between them, and the end makes you feel for that mission. I don't recall if this is the same one, but I also liked one where the main character remembers how his childhood friend is being taken away or something, and it has a nice twist where he was the one actually going away and she and the other colonists are killed by Zergs, I believe..

They're fun in their own, just don't expect anything superb. There's a shitty one that is basically a retelling of the SC1 Terran campaign, not worth your time.

SC2's voicework is pretty hit or miss in general. You've got characters like Jim Raynor, Tychus, Mengsk, Horner and so on which are great but then you also have Tricia Helfer's horrible Kerrigan voicework, Tosh, the protoss in general and I know this isn't voice acting, but hell, the zerg sounds in general are trash compared to the SC1 sounds.

But it wasnt a cure, it just halted some of the symptoms of infestation, and then wore off later
It was Duran who looked at that and said "nah fuck this cheap infestation" and actually bonded him with zerg DNA to make a Human Zerg hybrid

Her books are nice.

And forgot to mention it, that book that introduces her origin is ok. Not as good as the other 2 I think, but it's a fun read.

You're probably better off reading Mengsk's book.

I'm baffled they bothered to make Stukov resurrected, infested, and cured canon, but then immediately turn around and re-infest him, literally re-infested two terrans within the same game. But this is Blizzard we're talking about.

>If Artantis has an infestation cure, why not share it with Jim?
Jim had a cure to infestation in WoL if you chose that route, but Blizzard made some lazy answer that the zerg virus adapted to the cure, and now it's useless.

>It was Duran who looked at that and said "nah fuck this cheap infestation" and actually bonded him with zerg DNA to make a Human Zerg hybrid

Was that something in BW I missed? 2 made it pretty clear he just has shape shifting powers granted by amon that lets him pretend in those departments.

Must evolve. Swarm not good enough. Not.

I still see him as a dog.

>talking shit about starcraft
It's the most pure series. I'd like to see you do better. What would you do, if not the culmination combination of terran, zerg, and protoss into one being? AND she's a girl, AND it's been the plan for a decade

Christ, that whole essence mumbo jumbo was so retarded in HotS. I get it that the zerg evolve, but killing an animal or two and then changing right on the spot is pants on head retarded.

Does anyone know where I can download brood war? Fuck me if I want to play again.

I, Mengsk was surprisingly good.

The one true Jimmy. I don't like this bullshit one blizzard put out in sc2

It was. I already liked Mengsk in SC-BW. He was a cunt, but a cunt with an ambition.

The book supports that nicely.

Evolving slowly is for inferior races.

Was there anyone who though Narud being Duran backwards was a red herring?

Yes, or a wink and a nudge at players from BW not to trust this guy. I didn't expect it to literally be the same shit.

PLEASE RESPOND

After playing through a couple of missions in WoL, I stopped expecting anything at all.

If it looked retarded, it's because it was retarded.

It was clever for kids who played brood war when they were 10 and then also somehow played stracraft II when they were 11.
didn't expect them to "play it straight", it's such a fucking cliche by now

How do we go from this

to this?

That's why his name is Zera-tool after all.

It always pissed me off these things lost 1v1 VS Zealots.

>that retcon of "primal zerg"
unforgivable

DEY WUZ GUD XENOS, PRIMAL SAVAGES N SHEEEEEEIT

DA XELNAGUH BE KEEPIN DEM DOWN

AH NEED MO DNA FOR DEM MUTATIONS

I agree. Stronger vs Air ground unit is situational, they're expensive, maybe a slightly quicker ground vs ground attack. considering, last I knew, 250~300 minerals and gas vs 100/100

>People think that Primal Zerg are somehow Dindus
>Despite literally everything on that planet trying to kill one another
>Despite the one Primal that helps Kerrigan deciding to betray her to try and fucking eat her

Where did this meme come from?

they're really more of an anti-air platform, other than that it's a big expensive marine
