What the fuck was that?

Kino

An 8 hour long movie where you will never get those 8 hours back.

I recently played this for the first time. It's not as bad as y'all make it out to be.

A good game

Guns of the Patriots

It's what happens when Kojima is given full creative control

i.e. 9 hours of cutscenes and gratuitous amounts of sculpted man-ass

Nanomachines, son.

I don't understand why Sup Forums defends this game. 8 hours of cutscenes is atrocious, and the story ruins a lot of MGS continuity and is overall poorly written. Gameplay takes a nosedive in act 3.

The tutorial for MGO2.

Ignore the 'it's a movie' meme. All the cutscenes are skippable, with the exception of a few ten second clips, and unlike every other modern game, there are no forced walking segments and no major QTEs outside of the microwave hall and flashbacks.
Also, the gameplay is fun and the game gets consistently better as you play, with the exception of the pure stealth mission in Act 3

I thought act 3 was a nice change of pace. Then it leads you nicely into the fanservice act.
Act 5 was pretty shit, mind.

A pretty good game/movie. If you don't like it you just have bad taste

'It's a movie' is a distraction from the real problem that the level design is just awful.

Also most of the bosses sucked shit gameplay wise.

Not sure what happened with the level design. It's like Kojima wanted MGSV's open world but they didn't have the tech yet so settled with really big, linear MGS3 style maps.

>act 5 was pretty shit
Unless you're autistic, the first section of sneaking is a breeze, then you have the third best boss fight in the game, run through a corridor, get some badass Raiden, obligatory torture moment, then the best boss fight in the series happens

>Sup Forums now defens MGS4
post contrarianism needs to die

>third best boss fight in the game
>in a game with only 2 good boss fights

Which was the second?

It's Shit but mgo2 is coming back

Was this the pinnacle of the series?

All boss fights are good though

Laughing Octopus.

Crying wolf is the best. All the others were terrible.

More Metal Gear non-sense with the worst group of side villains. A system seller that didn't live up to the hype.
That follow this guy part in chapter 3 was horrible.

Yeah, really not sure how anyone can argue otherwise.

what do i need to do to my ps3 to play it?

>WOW SNAKE DUAL LAYERED DISC ISN'T TECHNOLOGY GREAT HUH???!
>5 million hours of loading times later...

This. People just don't like the direction that was taken and it could have been structured better and edited better, (with much less bullshit), but it was still an incredible experience.

Some people don't like the healing system of MGS3 I guess

To me it's still the greatest game of all time

nothing. it will work on OFW soon

i enjoyed this game a lot.

old snake is the best snake

>now
How new are you, be honest. I'll know if you're lying.

They're have rose-tinted glasses for MGS1 and 2

>thinks the B&B fights are the best and the rest are shit
>ignores screaming mantis
>ignores vamp
>ignores Ocelot
>ignores Ray
>ignores the motorcycle chase

Something better than Phantom pain that's for sure.

Both are the highlights of the game to me in all honesty.

How did Kojima fuck up MGSV so bad in the bosses department?

We have come full circle.

Should've installed the game

>screaming mantis
Boring shit. She isn't even threatening and the 'big twist' for defeating her was wasted on Vamp so it came as no surprise.

>Vamp
Jab him with the syringe and shoot him in a really ugly looking location

>Ocelot
It's a glorified minigame. Just mash buttons.

>Ray
Lot of hype for just spamming buttons in another glorified minigame

>Motorcycle chase
IT'S NOT EVEN A FUCKING BOSSFIGHT.

If this wasn't the first post in the thread I was going to blow my fucking lid. It is a true example of kino.

That's actually not true. You won't have to hack it but the process of rolling back the trophy update requires formatting the HDD so if you don't back it up (which they'll apparently give instructions for soon) you'll lose it.

>says you can just mash buttons
Are you implying that you didn't play it on The Boss Extreme (with Perfect Stealth and no deaths)
What a fucking loser

eating the end's parrot felt so satisfying for some reason

Nice try faggot.

MGS4 has the best gameplay in the series

also
>Middle east
great
>South America
great
>Europe
very boring
>Shadow Moses
great (because of feels and metal gear fight)
>Outer Haven
ok

I guess, if people really didn't like it on release. I played the Legacy Collection and liked it more than MGS2 and fucking root canal over MGS1.

I played through the Legacy collection, which was my first time playing any of them, and 3 is easily the best game in the series. It honestly feels like 1 and 2 are just prepping you to play 3.

/thread

Same.

>It honestly feels like 1 and 2 are just prepping you to play 3.
Um, not really. Each of them feels fairly self-contained. It's also not like they built up to 3 narratively.

Why wasn't MGSV just MSG4's Chapter 2 turned into an entire game?

Fpbp

>8 hours

20 hours and only like 4 are actual gameplay and that without kills nor getting detected.

fuck im gonna download this on my 3ds

Hope you've got an overclocked N3DS or you're in for a bad time.
Vita version is some what passable.

>Liquid fight was terrible
Way to invalidate anything you'll ever say for the rest of your life

>great story
>open world
>pvp endgame
>fun gadgets
>classic stealth gameplay
dare I say it, best in the series?

laughing octopus is so fucking hot.

No, 8.5 hours is actually how long all the cutscenes are together. Check youtube if you want, it's not a number pulled out of thin air.

More than 4 hours of gameplay too.
mgsforums.com/topic/7644188/1/

>complain that its a movie
>its a very good movie
its kino and you know it

youre all a bunch of hypocritical fucks

I meant gameplay wise.

And then MGS3 built up to MGS4. I haven't played MGSV, but I've heard it has the best mechanics in the series. I fail to see the significance of MGS3 in terms of gameplay other than being an improvement over MGS2. It was the first to use a 3D camera, but more accurately, that was Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

About to play it, and I have no doubt I'll enjoy it. Only one I'm worried about is MGS5

Peace Walker built on MGS4 though had limitations because of the PSP, and MGSV is a fully realised PW.
MGS3 is mostly significant for CQC.

Well, MGS1 have better atmosphere and plot.

It's not open world.

MGS4 is the best MGS game made in the last decade. Think about that.

Which is better, the MGS 3 ladder, or MGS4 microwave tunnel?

I dunno, the HD Collection came out in that time.

Kino post

Microwave tunnel

Raging Raven is the worst boss in the franchise and one of the worst bosses in a video game ever, even the ones in Peace Walker were better.

Why did Snake even go through that when he didn't do anything, all the Scarabs went after the MKII.

No ones gonna do it?
mgs3>mgs1>mgs4>mgs5>mgs2

I'm just surprised no one even mention if they like MGS5 over 4, I still think 4 was a much better game but hey thats like my opinion man

In case you don't remember, literal seconds after he got up and Otacon started dropping the virus, they were attacked, and the Mk II can't attack and upload at the same time.
Tl;dr, Snake was Otacon's bodyguard

MGS1>MGS3>MGSV>MGS2>MGS4>Peace Walker

MGS3=4>2>1>>>>>>PO>>>>>>>>>PW>>>>>>>>>>>V

>MGS3 is mostly significant for CQC.
Okay? I liked it, but the controls of the MGS series really never became great until four, and until then, it seems like gives more precision than is necessary.

Being rational: fucking dogshit>>>>>>>>>>>MGS1

Wearing nostalgia goggles: MGS1>>MGS2>>>>greatest works of art and literature

>MGSV in 3rd
you must be a Nintendo fan also to have such a crappy taste in games, thats the only explanation I can give you

Fucking this, can't wait for that shit to come back, I'm so out of practice on console shooters but I'll make an exception for that. The wait is killing me.

>tfw just started the series
What am I in for bros?
I had to start on MGS1 and it was fucking awesome.
Psycho Mantis was my favourite battle. I just got the legacy edition so I started MG1 and it's pretty fucking good for a game from 1987. Wouldn't expect this much quality from modern indie developers desu

None of the other robots even made to approach the mk 2.

Good game, not nearly as good as its three preceding games though.

is the tuxedo in this game?

You will learn the backstory of MG and lose your shit by 2 and 3 will blow your mind while you orgasm from 4 and become an alcoholic by the end of 5.

the series should have ended with 3

everything after was nice and the gameplay was good but unnecasary for the story

This better be bait user.
youtube.com/watch?v=BdkifEEHwWs

don't play V

that link says it takes 20 hours

also here is some irrefutable evidence:
howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=5916

The last best Metal Gear game.

This was the first not good one though.

According to contrarians who dont even understand the storyline of MGS2, cuz their fucking IQ is below average.

Funny, because I heard from someone else on this board that the game was made because people didn't understand MGS2.

Unrepentant schlock

Holy kek.

And the ending was bad by video game standards and utterly laughable by story standards, but it doesn't negate the seven previous hours or so.

The game was destined to have an awful story by virtue of existing, making a sequel to Sons of Liberty might be a bigger blunder than Phantom Pain.

I'm just glad Kojima is done with the series now, the lack of Fukushima didn't help either.

Snake Eater>Mgs2 theme>Encounter>Old Snake>powergap>Sins of the Father.

Cause you're in the way of them and attacking them, and they are meant for defending GW.
