I kind of would like to see an expanded Vice City, it was a cool setting that with even more detail and expansion could be really neat.

I don't think we're due for another GTA until around 2020. Rockstar have said that it isn't even in development yet.

It annoyed me that they shifted all their effort to GTA online instead of doing at least something to expand the single player element. Online was alright for a little bit, but it's pretty much just a big money grind to try and get the next cool thing. Also the fact that I still get disconnected from servers.

Either far in the past or far in the future. 1930s or 50s would be pretty sick aside from the music. A future city might be cool at first, but I have a feeling Rockstar will use it to legitimize rehashing the same antiquated wanted system again where you kill someone with nobody else around and get a wanted level. They'll probably excuse it with "futuristic super-surveillance" or some garbage.

a blade runner 2049 type setting gta would be pretty sick. Technically when gta 6 comes out it will be the future anyway (around 2020), so even if it's vice city it will be futuristic vice city. Even the original vice city looked futuristic because of lamborguini supercars, and that took place in the 80s.

I'd honestly rather they start doing more new stuff instead of recycling the concept of GTA. Red Dead and Bully were the two best games Rockstar put out (and LA Noire was great too). GTA used to be heavily satirical and lighthearted, and that doesn't fit with the concept of a deeply fleshed-out and realistic-looking world. Characters and missions are generally more serious now too. Put GTA on a 7-8 year break at least until technology allows a big leap if they're going for a fleshed-out open world again, and in the meantime try something new.

Not at all, the last generation was artificially elongated due to the recession. Most generations are 5 years or so (or the back end of 2018/startr of 2019 realistically).

I've owned every console in every previous generation I've been around for, but I'm probably going to stop and just stick to PC. I bought a PS4 for Bloodborne and I've barely touched it other than Bloodborne, Yakuza and Gravity Rush. Complete waste of money. I didn't get an XB1 and I'm glad after seeing how it turned out.

1970's New York would be great. Perfect setting for a GTA considering how much of a shithole New York was back then. Some of the cityscape was practically post apocalyptic and many people behaved like it.
