PlayStation

Brought this over from /vr/

Sup? Ps1 finally arrived, cant play it yet though because I have to wait for the hdmi upscaler box to use it on my tv.

Either way this thing is fucking mint and I can't wait to play all my old games on it again

What are some games I should pick up for it? I already have the following

>road rash
>road rash 3D
>resident evil
>lemmings
>castlevania symphony of the night
>duke nukem: total meltdown
>gran turismo 2
>danger girl
>Rayman rush
>wwf war zone
>FF VII
>crash bandicoot 2
>crash bandicoot warped
>die hard trilogy
>metal gear solid

Why didn't you just get a PS3?

Because I have zero desire to play PS2 or PS3 games and this was on eBay for $15.

Amazed how clean it is.

Still the ps3 plays ps1 games just fine and it's a good bluray/netflix/YouTube player

It's nice I agree. If only most people cared for their consoles.

Yeah but I have an xbone for the blu ray and all that other shit. Even with the adapter this was cheaper than buying even a PS2. Plus I have massive nostalgia for that grey box.

Valkyrie Profile
Tomba
SaGa Frontier
Lunar
Ape Escape
Brave Fencer Musashi
Bushido Blade
Grandia
Legend of Mana

that will have the classic tile menu
don't know what they where thinking with the later models, it's horrendous

>hdmi upscaler box
I take it this is what I would need to get older consoles to work on a newer tv? I had been wondering why it didn't work despite the TV having two out of three of the red / white / yellow holes

Sweet! Thanks man I'll see if I can pick them up.
Yeah the "new" one from the psone was such absolute shit.
Yeah just go on amazon and look for "rca to hdmi converter" and you'll find one for like $20. My tv is a newer 4K tv but it doesn't know what to do with the 240p signal from the PS1. The startup works and the menus for some games work but most games just go to a blank screen and the tv just says "no signal" because the lowest resolution my tv can accept is 480p.

Ape Escape, if you decide to play that one, will require a dual shock controller.

I like the one with the blue background. I assume that is the most popular.

Should pick up a cheap tube TV from Craigslist. I snagged a 36" trinitron for $5 a while back. That's what I play my retro stuff on. It will look loads better too.

>tfw will never own black edition

>"rca to hdmi converter" and you'll find one for like $20.
Bit pissed I have to spend £20 on this, but whatever. Any reccomendations? And I assume the console in question doesn't matter, might post on /wsr/ and post what TV I have just to make 100% sure actually since I know fuck all about new TVs and I don't wanna fuck up

Oh shit I forgot about that game. Yeah I have a dual shock as well.
Yeah it's fucking great
That's on the list of things to get soon. I just don't have much room at my place to put another TV which is honestly the only reason I'm even bothering with the upscaler.

Resident Evil 2 is the GOAT RE.cc

this is what I use
cost £5 I think, works a charm

I was worried about input lag, but I've tested it extensively and I can't fault it
even rhythm games play well on it

I also have a scart one that works just as well, but it needs a spare power socket

>road rash

I'd let all of you die if it meant I could go back to when I was playing this with my brother as a kid, even just for an hour.

The desire to play it again was one of the driving factors in me purchasing the console again.

I actually played on PC but it doesn't change much.
I would also do the same just to sit next to my brother while he plays Soul Reaver on our Ps and we try to figure out the puzzles and the story - since we didn't speak english.

I would add Silent Hill and Command and Conquer Red Alert.

Since you've got FF VII I would add VI as well because it's a great game. Blood Omen as well if you've never played a Legacy of Kain game but any of them really, especially Soul Reaver. Please do yourself a favor and get Soul Reaver I can't recommend it enough

>console that emulates perfectly
>buys it only to use an upscaler on an lcd tv

So what's the point? Just emulate on your PC and you don't have to worry about buying additional hardware, having games delivered, rarity, etc. Only a good CRT would justify having one.

Some people don't like dealing with emulators because lack of patience trying to get the settings right or it doesn't "feel right" to them. I'm not one of people though and I'm actually very thankful for emulation in general.

Breath of Fire 3

You're a faggot.
Now that's out of the way:
Future Cop: LAPD
Battletanx Global Assault
Syndicate Wars
Command and Conquer series
Dune 2000
War of the Worlds

Just picked up VI, soul reaver, and ape escape.

Legend of Legaia

and pretty fucking nice computer before sony decided to be royal cunts

This man speaks the truth

What did they do?

>no one calling it psx and some autist losing his shit over it

Pretty disappointed desu.

if anything you got yourself a decent sony cd player. seperate audio signal ps1's are the most desirable.

Honestly...

that's a pretty impressively clean PS1.

Considering that a) people never dust their consoles and b) people sure as fuck don't dust or clean 20+ year old consoles.

dropped other OS mode linux on the PS3 was dope

sony never really did give a real reason as to why people got pissed and filed a class action lawsuit sony lost kinda sad to the ps2 has an official linux kit sony should have done the same with the ps3
