They're called roguelikelikes; another good one is Spelunky. You may also want to try an actual roguelike. Brogue and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup are good ones for beginners.

Wouldn't RogueLite be better?

Just looked the last two up and they look like they fall in the same family as Dwarf Fortress though I actually don't like that game a lot. I enjoy more mindless kinds of games.

I pirated it desu.
It's pretty good coming from someone who likes the games mentioned above. It's like a slower harder version of nuclear throne. Though it takes a while to get into the meat of the game.

They're nothing like DF in terms of gameplay, and not anywhere near as hard. DCSS has a browser version crawl.berotato.org:8080/#lobby
Brogue is probably a better game though, and a lot less complicated.

Also FTL is another good roguelite.

This is the old version that won't be updated anymore that the game made it's way to Steam.

It only got to Steam recently, so the Alpha isn't too far out of the date compared to the current build as far as I'm aware.

Just look up rogue-likes on steam, it's not what they are but it is where you'll find them. The only ones not like those are the actual Rogue-likes that some how slipped through and are generally the worst of their kind.
