just bought pic related and after first mission im thoroughly impressed! was a huge nier fan and this game seems to be a definite improvement.. any nier 1 fans on the fence over this one id def say get it based off what ive played so far

2B so cute also, hope she can match papa nier

Keep playing, the game improves.

good to hear friend, are you never able to take their eye cloths off? i thought maybe they dont have eyes underneath but in a cutscene you saw hers

There's an item you get later that can take them off.

...

Enjoy.
And I hope you leave now considering most of Sup Forums has beat it already so casually dropping spoilers is very common.

Anyone spoils this for OP is getting the dick and not in a good way

ah k cool
oh shit thanks for the heads up maybe ill avoid till finish

what does the numbers mean when it says shared 11/12? on the chapter select

used no weapons for majority of the game i regret nothing

Sounds boring.

Those are side quests. Most of them are shared by all characters, I don't think 2B has any specific but 9S and A2 have character-specific quests.

I wanna try a Hard run of Bare-Fists only. So far the "I wanna be beautiful" bitch wrecks me tho. I am only lv9 while fighting her tho, lol...

what happens after ending E
do they just stay on earth forever and do nothing?

>tho
>tho
I want to actually murder you.

with shockwave it's pretty fun especially when doing flash kicks

2B definitely has unique sidequests.
Everyone does.

They come back to life and live among the normal earthbound androids while the yorha project is over and the machines central consciousness has departed for outer space. The machines independently start rebuilding themselves 400 years later and the gang are going around killing the left over emil clones but other than that we don't know

I bought this today, enjoying what I've seen so far.

Am I supposed to explore the world as much as I have been? I'm on one of the first missions, where they drop you off in the abandoned city shortly after you detonate the cube thing, and I've just been running around all over the city opening chests and exploring. Am I going to visit the city again at a later point in the game?

>mfw dat ass

why would i bother typing capital letters and long words all the time THO?

im glad i triggered an autist today THO

HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT TOOBIE IS LITERALLY BUILT FOR HAIGURE ?!

So uhhhh, if I never played Nier, am I gonna be lost playing this? (Just ordered it)

The game world is pretty small and open. There are no "one-time only" areas. The city is the main hub.

Explore as much as you want, but keep in mind you'll be trekking through that city dozens of times so you might not want to exhaust its interest to you completely right away.

Just do the main missions for awhile, then more sidequests start opening up. (Starting sidequests can be a bit fetchy, but they get better as the game goes on, adding back-story and some character development)

nope

i guess just grind some more or get that chip that gives you health when you deal damage

Best controller scheme? I moved "Shoot" to right trigger and "Dodge" to left bumper, but even then it feels awkward. I feel like I should be able to simultaneously shoot and physically attack an enemy seamlessly, but every controller scheme I choose feels wrong

The story is approachable even if you've never played NieR. A few names that should mean something may not to you, but overall it's an enjoyable experience for sure.

As a matter of fact, some somewhat big reveals in the game would be already spoiled if you had played the previous games, so it's no issue.

Well fuck, I figured as much. I only wandered as far as the desert, so I guess I'll make a b-line for the mission objective.

I used default control scheme, except I inverted horizontal camera (personal preference) and I found the controls easy to use.

No, but you'll miss out on many good references and won't get as much enjoyment out of them as people who know about the first Nier.

I bought this and Toukiden 2 within a few days of each other, most Japanese exposure I've had in years

Dodge on left trigger, shoot on right bumper, interact on right trigger, dodge on circle as well for convenience. No lock-on button because Hard Mode.

I'll give that a shot. I don't even use lock-on tbhonest, so I might as well change the difficulty to hard

I never played Nier either and I loved Automata. I know there's references to the original but it stands as a complete game in it's own right and isn't really connected with the original Nier much at all.

Yes it is very connected.

You can play Nier:A without having played the first Nier, but that doesn't mean they're not connected.

don't touch me or talk to me

...

I want to let you know that I think the image you posted is adorable and I saved it.

Have another cute picture.

What I did was:
Left Bumper = Pod Program
Left Trigger = Shoot
Right Bumper = Lock On (irrelevant on Hard+)
Right Trigger = Dodge

For some reason I had a hard time with Dodge on my left hand (which was already controlling general movements) and Shoot on my right hand (which was already controlling camera and aiming). So this ended up being the most comfortable for me, even if it's just a near-inversion of the bumpers/triggers with everything else the same.

Ass

I did this same setup. Mainly because I used pod programs the least, and the left bumper was easier to hold down while still hitting other buttons

souls-style controls. i put my melee attacks on r1/r2 and fire/program on l1/l2, evade on circle. it works pretty well. i can free aim while doing attacks. it works especially well in the twin stick shmup segments.
