Was cool for SA2. Quickly became uninteresting after that.

I still think Shadow had the basis to make a good game.

Even the story could've been good if they related it back to the prophecy of the ultimate life form on Angel Island.

Just fix the physics, either focus more on the classic gameplay or the gunplay and have a better way to do the different endings

I actually thought it was fine, the only time gunplay was encouraged was when enemies had huge health bars, and carrying around a huge gun never really slowed Shadow down.

The mission structure was really the biggest flaw of Shadow's game.

I am aware of this. That doesn't mean that Shadow didn't come first though and that Sonic is the faker.

The mural is based on the prediction of sonic fighting a large force. Shadow is created based off this while sonic makes the prediction come true.

The problem is that without sonic existing, then the prediction would not be made and shadow would never be created.

Without sonic, no shadow.

I think he was doing fine up until the Sonic Generations/Boom writers tried to push him as the Vegeta anime rival. His new voice actor doesn't help at all.

He was much more likable in the Sonic Rivals games.

Ugh, this. Roger does a decent job at Sonic but he can't voice Shadow at all. He's gotten a bit better at it since he started but it still sounds forced.

Imagine Barney the Dinosaur, now give him a gun. Give him a tribal tattoo. And sunglasses and a bomber jacket. Now give him an attitude and make him swear (but only a little. "Damn!")

You're right that Shadow and Biolizard was likely based on Super Sonic and Perfect Chaos respectively, it's just that mural in that picture is suppose to be foreshadowing Super Sonic fighting Eggman in the Doomsday Zone at the end of 3&K, hence the Master emerald in that picture. Gerald and his researches did know about Chaos though, (with the Artificial Chaos enemies as proof of that).

Gerald and his team probably saw the Perfect Chaos mural in Lost World. They did research all over Angel Island and Mystic Ruins. Hence the Eclipse Cannon's core looking like the Master Emerald's shrine.

It's from SA1 where Eggman says he studied the ancient tablets.

Honestly a decently designed character with flaws and a sympathetic past. Reminds me of myself sometimes when I see him try to be a good person but the inner evil takes over.

Wasted potential.
I would've loved to see him with a more Vegeta-esque personality, brimming with pride, anger, and a superiority complex. Instead we got edgy dark Sonic who broods everywhere, hardly emotes, and is generally downplayed.

Imagine any of Vegeta's iconic moments, replace him with Shadow, and replace any time he says "Prince of all Saiyans" with "Ultimate Life Form." That's the Shadow I wanted to see.

Sonic 06 had plenty of hype and expectations behind it despite Shadow the Hedgehog being trash. Sonic fucked up the reputation himself by having such a shit game, Shadow the Hedgehog would easily just have been disregarded as the mistakes of a spinoff if 06 hadn't shown otherwise.

It's weird now that I think about it but the most genuinely entertaining sonic character outside of eggman. Good capacity for chemistry with the other characters also. When I played Sa2 back in the day, I was ok with him eventually replacing sonic.

Then we got shadow the hedgehog and '06.

I wouldn't mind him returning more often, just keep him as a joke character with his edgy attitude.
