did a few of the time trials, getting all the collectibles will take a bit of time

Its not very comparable to Yooka or games like Odyssey, it plays nothing like a 3d open world platformer. It reminds me more of Crash, linear platforming with emphasis placed on getting to the goal as quickly as possible. I don't know why people think this is going to scratch that same itch.
