ELEX looks like something I'll waste 60 hours per playthrough, I have no complaints.

They byted the dust

They hit the gold for their first 2 games and couldn't replicated it because they can't evolve for shit

They had 3 attempts for Risen and none of them were as good as the first 2 Gothic

Hard a hurdle that is, being as good as the Gothics.. Risen 1 was good besides the last part of the game, PB can't write an ending for shit.

The other two are unfortunate.

I'm sorry but Elex looks like a budget game for PB standard and that's saying something

Nothing really, they reached their top performance with gothic 2 and since then they keep remaking it.
Risen 2 had some brave changes but unfortunately it wasn't well received so they reverted to the generic open world formula.
What they need is vision to improve from gothic 2 route and of course capital.

People do often look back on older games with rose coloured glasses and forgive game faults that would be unacceptable in modern games. The lack of proper mouse controls just wasn't something I was willing to deal with.

But I did played the game in 2016 with mouse. A bit clunky and weird, but you can deal with it.

I'm not saying the weird controls are great, but they are adaptable and do provide a good melee fight style, but is that really a good reason to not play such good games?

Also playing a game full keyboard is really fun, I don't even want to touch the mouse when I play them

Risen is the best Gothic game overall, because, even though it doesn't have a world as good as the one in Gothic 2, it has vastly superior combat. Basically, after having played Risen 1, you've already played the best Gothic game and should not even bother with PB games anymore, unless, of course, you want to try Gothic 2+ Night of the Raven for its great world deisgn.

Gothic 2 NotR and Risen 1 are the only two Gothic games worth playing, everything else is fucking trash, including the pile of shit known as Gothic 1.

PB games always looked like that, it's a small dev team with low budget after all, their games never sold millions of copies or anything, unlike Bioware games, which looks hella budget too.
But there is mouse support and it works alright, don't listen to only-keyboard pleb.

Half the time I left Ardea the game became black and all I could see were the coloured lines of the hitboxes and models, every time I tried to climb a hill I fell through it, the portal stone in Gotha that was supposed to send me to the capital clipped through a wall and fell off the world while I was fighting monsters in the room it was in and every time I killed an enemy their heads rocketed out and stretched their necks to the roof.

I think the problem with PB is that over time budgets crept up in video games and they couldn't really keep up.

I've pretty much completed the game without any patches on shitty pc with everything low, 800x600 looking at the ground in 20 fps

I could only complete it with cheats because it broke constantly and I got frustrated after a while. The game broke at pretty much every step I took on my pc.

Worse world, worse characters. worse dialogues and quests, story and atmopsphere is not great and combat would be potentially better than G1 and G2, if PB made better attack animations, but they are only slightly better than G3.
I finished the game before even boars animation got fixed, literally millions of bugs, 15-30 FPS and 10 minutes long loading screens, what a ride it was.

I like Risen 2 and 3

Not really. They should have had their world/level designers just keep doing their thing, hire a writer who can flesh out the lore and write a plot that isn't just "an ancient evil has awakened", improve the animations to make the combat more satisfying.

Instead they did the exact opposite.

But it looks like shit. Seriously, the world felt like they just dicking off on Blender or some shit and randomly put trees in it.

I didn't follow them at all, because you know, Risen 2 was utter shit and Risen 3 was ok at best.

Risen is still best game they made recently.

The controls are super fluid once you get used to them.

The only people who complain about them are ADD babies.

The thing with Risen was that they didn't own the Gothic ip so they made a very Gothic like game that wasn't Gothic.

After Jewood went under they got Gothic back so they tried to make Risen into its own thing. The end result was a shitty mix of things that didn't work neither here nor there.

Two Worlds 2 had the best magic system.

Do I need to have finished Two Worlds to understand TW2?
I have like 10 hours in it and barely got past the starting area, it's just so damn boring

Just start TW2 they will give you story recap anyway.
