Life is Strange.

>multiple endings but only one true endings that's also the only good ending

new vegas is the worst offender of this
obsidan think good endings are immature so no matter what you do, the result is neutral and you dont really feel like you've achieved anything other than rearranging the status quo

>each ending is unique and leads to a different part of the story being resolved
>only by achieving all endings can you get the full picture

What if I don't know a good ending?

>bad end is canon

Automata.jpg
Pretty much every single Taro game.

>the pain in the ass to obtain secret good/perfect ending is the worst written and feels off-putting narratively/thematically

>game has a joke ending

Comfy

>horror game
>you can steal a car and drive away
>credits roll

Sol was not negotiable.

Don't bring Moomin into this

>joke end is canon

Moomin should be brought into most things.

>Normal ending: things work out for every character

>True ending: Main character dies in order to save worst character

Fuck you, Elle. Xillia 2 would have been great without you.

...

I would play a Moominland open world game with nothing but good endings.

Are you sure?

Most comfy game ever made

Wat gam?

Actually Normal End hinted that Ludger would just become another Bisley and just be a total dick with sacrificing Elle for Canaan, or just go down the Victor route and just fucking kill everyone. Basically in the Normal End you didn't break the cycle and all the shit will just start back up again.
It's in the True End that the cycle of the Kresnik line is finally broken.

The best way

>play linear non-rpg game
>last 5 minutes
>DO YOU WANT TO BE A GOOD BOY OR A BAD BOY, CHOOSE NOW!
>all you get is a different ending video/voice over
>can just reload and watch the other one since none of it is depended on your actions throughout the game

What the fuck is the point?

I really hate this shit.

Only time it's ok if there's like a true ending which requires you to collect all stuff or something like that. But having multiple ending just for the sake of it is so shitty.

Suikoden 2 did "multiple" ending correct.

>Every ending is canon simultaneously

Oh hey, it's the Human Revolution.

>the ending is not the actual ending

Dark Souls

Just fuck my shit up

But Life is Strange has two shitty endings.

This is great in theory, but it often means you have to play through the exact same content eight fucking times in order to understand what's going on.
Also, more often than not, there's still a "true" ending regardless, which you can only get after the others and explains the whole thing straight-up.

>"Do you accept this quest to go save the world?"
>Yes/No
>No
>Screen fades to black as text explains how the world eventually ended without the heroes' intervention

>made by suicidally depressed fingols
>good endings

Shitty as it was at least the game had some sort of roleplaying in it to at least merit some choice.

It's just baffling in games like Call of Juarez Gunslinger.

>bad end is canon because the players are sucks at playing the game
Not even mad, just impressed

Clock Tower

if you wanted the least shitty ending, well, i guess you just should've gitten gud

Oh fuck.

>Dishonored 2
>The canon ending of the first game depends on how you play through the first level of the second game

The only ending that isn't canon from the first game is high chaos and letting emily die, but the rest is fair game.

Yeah, I agree. I did enjoy the game itself, but ending was just silly. From what I recall, it even gives you achievement for pressing different buttons.

Singularity

>game continues after credits

Is it good? Seems that nobody talks about it since its shitty performance. I love Dishonored 1.

>imgur.com/a/3ufHE
That actually strangely somewhat hot.

IIRC, you actually need to replay the entire game to get the other ending, as well.
I really liked Gunslinger's approach to storytelling and presentation in general (also that O Death cover was GOAT), but the ending was definitely the weakest part of the game.

>game "ends"
>second part rolls around
>it's shit

I played it on console due to the performance issues of the PC version so I can't really say if they're still an issue or not. Performance issues aside it's more or less the same as the first game, just with two different characters, more aware enemies, and more variety in its level design.

It's a good game, but I kind of regret paying full price for it. I recommend buying it when it goes on sale.

>Every ending is canon simultaneously
Daggerfalls endings being explain via a Dragon Break is one of my favorite piece of Lore in the whole series.
My other favorite piece of lore is Queen Barenziah had sex with a Khajiit in public at a Pub in Riften.

Fair review. I'm gonna get it.

I love joke endings.
>everyone gets turned into a dinosaur

I don't know why they thought this was a good idea with Deus Ex

>my actions don't have consequences!

The only game I can think of that does this is Shadow the Hedgehog, and I don't think that was well done at all.

>get bad ending
>it's the only ending in the game
>the rest got cut because they ran out of money

Pretty sure the Blood War ending is the good ending. The cycle is over and he's finally now paying for his crime, and it's not that bad since he can slaughter any devil or demon up against him with ease.

>game adaptation of a book
>a made-up ending is considered the real ending
>the book ending is not since it's sadder than the one they made up

I don't remember the finnish dub or the video games being that depressing

>bad ending
Nigga the bad ending is the one where you kill yourself with the Entropic Blade.

>good and bad is subjective

>I have zero imagination

>you beat the final boss and cutscenes start of you escaping and the game is over

>think the game is almost over and wrapping itself up
>you're only on chapter 4 or 16

You still get murdered tho

>the second half after the credits is the best part of the game

is that a boy or a girl?

It's actually pretty cool

>game has multiple endings
>none of them finish the game and just bring up more unanswered questions

Because Xbox Xboned us on Invisible War.

>the sequel focuses on completely new characters and makes no references to the previous game's endings

What games aside from Nier and SH2 do this?

999, and Virtue's Last Reward. Zero Time Dilemma also does it but it's not really linear.

This is for the best though.

By making one ending canon, it invalidates the other endings. The best approach is for there to be debate amongst NPCs in game as to what ending is actually canon. KOTOR 2 and Bioshock 2 did this brilliantly.

E.Y.E

>the Good Ending is a shitty cut off where everyone dies
>the Bad Ending is an extra five hours to ten hours of content on top of that where you survive and go off on an extra adventure where you go "fuck it, let's fucking kill god" and you do so and then save all your friends

Solstice, a shitty VN I got during a humble bundle

>beating the game on easy gives you the good ending
>beating the game on normal gives you the neutral ending
>beating the game on hard gives you the bad ending
