They most likely stayed in Anor Londo serving Gwynevere/Flann until Gwyn's clan left it, at which point they just followed (with the exception of Ornstein). Gwyn even linked the Fire to continue civilization. Gough has his bow and armor with him and the carvings say he was imprisoned in the tower. Also, Gough would have been sent to check out what Oolacile was up to, not because Darkwraiths were there.
