finishing cabaret and real estate to unlock legend

leaving them until before the final boss was probably a mistake

Just beat the final boss and do them in premium adventure.

though it would be lame to not have Legend for the final boss, or is it not? It's basically game over unless you wanna do those extra battles which I'm not sure about because I have NieR in the backlog

Why were the requirements for the arcade completion so low? I mean I'm shit at Outrun and such but I still managed to do it

>Massage minigame in 4

Thank fucking god none of that shit is required for the Platinum trophy in that game.

There is still mahjongg like always though.

I suck at the bike one, I don't get why I go so slow

...

>majima taking a picture

Suffering through Haruka's chapter in Yakuza 5. I don't know if I can do it kyoudai.

dance, dance like you want to win

Got the Legend trophies a while back, I've only got the minigames and climax battle trophies left but I've got other games to play. Where's the fucking Kiwami news?

Playing Tales of Berseria because I platinum Yakuza 0 a month ago, but damn that game was one hell of a ride

Don't give up on your DREAMS kyodai

The only Sony console I have is a PS2, should I bother getting into Yakuza

You mean my YUME

>BRO YOU MUST NOT KILL SHIBUSAWA!!!
Nigga I'm surprised he didn't even get concussion from how many times Kiryu bashed his face in, typical Yakuza logic. These characters are made of adamantimum or something.

Completion list now at 97%. Only things left to do are to catch the Sea Fish+Ghost Koi, watch porn vids, and get phone cards to befriend the Mr. Libidos.

Yes. First one is horribly clunky though, and has horrible english va.

I think realistic damage is thrown out of the window already at the point when you unload magazines into normal shirtless men and they'll just go "ugh" and barely lose one health bar

haruka is cute! cute!
youtu.be/SzJzmJfQGsk

too bad she got knocked up by some yellow chink in 6

Pro-tip: You don't even need to win the Princess League with Haruka. The only things you have to put effort in with her chapter are the practice sessions

>Ryuji get shot straight through the heart with visible bleedout on his back while being shot from the front
>still strong enough for that whole boss fight

>Kiryu tank a steel pipe from Kuze riding motorcycle
>nah it's fine

It's baby's first rhythm game though. Also, no random battles and you can don't really need to train to win the competition unless you have the reflexes of a snail.
2 is the best in the series and can be played on a PS2, so yes

>Sweaty violent middle aged man on a motorcycle with a pipe in his hand shouting on the top of his lungs is coming at you high speed in a sewer
>Tries to block with arms

Haven't played 6 yet but I do keep hearing about the chink baby daddy. Is that why the amazon JP user reviews are so shit? Also, it seems like a missed opportunity to not make the protag from Black Panther the dad or something.

I like all the creepy nuisances they kept all over that part, and the concept of idols in general (even though the game romanticises it just like it romanticises the Yakuza) is well represented.

Stuff like the ardent fans sniffing their hands after the handholding event, or the running thing which is all about hearing the girl moan and get sweaty, and the sports thing where the announcer literally tells you they want to see the idols get unladylike and how low they would stoop down to win. IRL though, despite what /jp/ tells you, the entire idol business is based around rich old men and hikkis lusting over """"pure"""" girls, they fucking suspend their disbelief to not consider how much cock sucking and enjo kosai goes on behind the scenes.

It's all so deliciously fucked up. Now excuse me I'm going to fap to my sweet Mayu Watanabe.

Well that and also most of the fan favorites also have very little screen time

>the start of the game when Kiryu's fellow taxi drivers discuss how shady the idol industry is when Haruka shows up on TV and he overhears it
Made me feel really bad for him

I'm not complaining because it's hard, in fact it's so fucking easy a dumb monkey could win it. My issue with it is the shitty music, shitty looking dances, shitty idol songs (and there's just 3 of them and "so much more" is heard like 29865 times), boring as fuck overall pacing, neverending schedule full of horribly repetitive events (if you want to go to 100%), and so on. It's just a terrible chapter, even worse than the jail part, the rivalry with t-set is also pretty boring.

>Made me feel really bad for him
It's the truth though, besides, coming from Y4 I really didn't see Haruka as wanting to be a slutty idoru. The whole yume thing with Park and how she decided to become an idol is just contrived as fuck, maybe I'm not getting it but man this is rubber bullets tier shit.

What I don't get is she clearly refused in Y2, some prick walked up to Kiryu and her and asked 'hey, want to be an idol?' and she refused, what made her want to be an idol again 5?

>what made her want to be an idol again 5?
shitty contrived nip writing so they could shoe horn in that bit of story. So they can get away with lewding her up in almost meta fashion were it not for how fucking contrived it was

Because she want to fulfill Park's YUME

Seriouly Y5 is a prime example of why you don't shove your theme into others' face

It's something that was kept being brought up so it was probably on the back on her head for a while, and Park was an oportunist who knew how to sell an idea. That part of Yakuza 5 didn't seem so contrived to me.

I miss Y3 Haruka, where she'd slap Yakuza bosses around, in 5 she couldn't even hit back with those 2 other idol bitches.

>just completed all mini games in 3

>Putting yourself through that hell
How the fuck did you survive Batting

One thing that's always bugged me about Yakuza games (Played 1-5), why can't you buy things from vending machines? It's a minor detail but it just annoyed me that it does so much right, they overlooked it.

Get good at timing. The pitches are in the same order every time.

Because Nagoshi is a lazy cheapskate
There's a restaurant in Y5 that's basically a real life photo shopped in with minor changes

I want 300 canned coffee for no reason

youtu.be/bdOFphQwJAw?t=1146

Who is best lieutenant and why is it Kuze?

>"Kazuya" is an anagram of "Yakuza"

Kazuya is a character from Tekken then
Kazuma is the protag of Yakuza

Best Yakuza for somebody who has a PS2/3, but no PS4 or emulators?

1,2,3,4,5
2>5>4>1=3

Also you can import Ishin and 0 on PS3

only 1 and 2 can be emulated

They added that in Y6.

We will never have a Yakuza game where Haruka becomes Kiryu's successor. Instead she's forced to be the toppu idoru.

youtube.com/watch?v=Y6AuvA-tl3Y

That fucking track, my dick.

>2 at the top
for story, gameplay or just the overall experience?

>They added that in Y6.
Cool, finally. I heard that 6 had a lot of issues though with the new fighting system. Or was that just longtime fans being autistic?

youtube.com/watch?v=txcVMXzRNoQ

Apparently Nagoshi got death threats over how bad Y6 was, but the combat looks fine to me, fun even. I really enjoyed the demo.

youtube.com/watch?v=qSCW33qmF6g&t=270s

It is true to some extent. You dont have the multiple style switches that Ishin/0/Kiwami had, even though its been dialed back to 30FPS the movement feels a bit more sluggish from what I tried of the demo I'm a bit worried about Y6 honestly.

>Apparently Nagoshi got death threats over how bad Y6 was
wow

Wait, seriously? Thats harsh but its understanding because 6 just doesnt seem to hold up compared to Yakuza 5 or 0. I guess there's gonna be heavy retcons and we'll have to wait until the next final chapter in Kazuma Kiryu's saga.

Take it with a grain of salt, source was 2ch.

Reading Japanese Amazon reviews I believe it, one of the most favorited views reads "you just wanted to make a game that had celebrities" or so I assume from Google Translate, as well as mentions of removing minigames and being a disappointing finale.

I'd say overall. The characters are pretty memorable, even the ones with 5 minutes total screentime. It also has a lot of definitive "Yakuza" moment (grown men in diapers for example). The OST is pretty good in quality and presentation, especially the battle theme

>3/5 stars

ouch

Amazon and Yahoo reviews are a pretty big deal, in case you didn't know. People review things with seriousness there.

Yeah, there were a lot of celebrities too. I only know Takeshi, Maki Yoko and Shun Oguri but those are some pretty big names which made them sacrifice fan favorites to give the celebs bigger roles. I'm still excited for it, though.

Bad writing.

Also that fucking cunt Park.

>Yakuza 6 is the lowest rated, even lower than the spin offs
>Yakuza 0 is the highest

they peaked

Is that Nagoshi on the back cover on the right side? The one wearing all leather.

6 being mediocre comes after 5, Ishin, 0 and Kiwami which was pretty great probably contribute to that

If you watch any gameplay video, you will see that the combat is slower. More importantly, you will see that heavy attacks feel like shit due to their slow speed which means enemies will block it 90% of the time. In addition to that, blocked hits also feel like shit because Kiryu staggers backwards when his attacks get blocked.

Amazon reviews I understand, but Yahoo? Interesting though that they review products completely seriously there instead of some Steam/Metacritic reviews where they give it 10/10 even though they havent gotten far or 0s or "I did X, 10/10 would X again".

I'm excited too but for Kazuma's final chapter I'd rather just have characters I know throughout the series 10-11 year run.

amazon.co.jp/review/R1NQ6T5EN0IIGU/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B01J2XM0R6&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=637394&store=videogames

This person completed the game 100% and rated it one star and starts the review talking about how much they loved the games so much.

Someone's is fucking pissed

>Amazon and Yahoo reviews are a pretty big deal, in case you didn't know. People review things with seriousness there.
>Watch dogs 2 4.5/5
>Final Fantasy 2.5/5

tl;dr combat is clumsy as fuck

the gameplay videos look bad to be honest, that shit they did to the physics to make hits more realistic was poorly done. The animations connect badly and sometimes you get shit like this happening:

youtu.be/sV-K7eUQI5Y?list=PLCnWJ7Fclo4ezaUmKBsVU_DgT8pV5gZuy&t=582

put it at 9;42 if it doesn't work

Did he always look so gangster?

Now I'm fucking worried.

In fairness WD only had 2 games and people probably jumped into the sequel, plus the fanbase probably isnt as huge as it is for Yakuza or FF.

Slowly replaying in NG+ and just focusing on story. I'll eventually do a legend play through when I have time and I feel like it.

What about the story? Is the main villain (that Iwata-looking dude) fun in the story and fun to fight?

How did the finale hold up to the others?

All I know of the ending is that Kaz faked his death.

Honestly, it looked iffy from the first demo they released. Still gonna buy it day 1 when it comes in 2018, can't really fault the studio for trying something different.

Is it just me or is the AI a lot more aggressive in Yakuza 0? I was cleaning up street thugs for a while collecting money then suddenly the AI did a 180 and now they are all attacking me at the same time and encounters like the Men in Black, which used to be a free mil per fight, are so fucking hard now, sometimes I have to use a Toughness ZZ just to survive a single encounter. Never had this problem in the previous Yakuza games I played. Does the game have scaling difficulty or what?

Check your equipment

my japanese is basic, I'm using google translate:

>◆メインストーリーの支離滅裂ぶり

complains that it's incoherent, mostly Haruka's character

put that in google translate

What am I looking for? Does the difficutly scale with gear or what? I equipped some strong stuff like an item I got from the Clown guy.

Some gear will make your attack power stronger but your ability to to take hits worse, while others can aggro enemies.

What the fuck? The gameplay looks like something you'd expect from some eurotrash action RPG. The gameplay in Yakuza has been regressing ever since they started introducing new characters and move sets.

There's gears that increase enemy aggressiveness. Try to unequip your gear and check again

Not sure what the guy is saying but in regards to Haruka's character I'm expecting a lot of people to be pissed off about it.

Not because she got knocked up, but because the story doesn't really bother exploring her relationship or general thoughts about the father. Doesn't really bother exploring anything about the whole thing really. It was just there to add some more drama to the story.

Thanks, I'l try unequipping my gear.

>regressing
What? 4 definitely improve from 3, and 5 from 4. Ishin was great and 0 basically take what's good from 5 and Ishin

If anything, 6's regressing is mostly because of the new engine

It does look very slow and the characters doesn't react as if they're stuck in mud, but I'd attribute the changes more to the fact that they revamped a solid game engine instead of just tinkering with it.

Keep in mind that enemies also get stronger in the later chapters, so in a sense they do scale. But if you're maxed out with a couple levels in legend styles, you should still breeze through them.

Why don't they just shelve Kiryu instead of treating him like shit at the end of every game? The Black Panther spin-off was popular enough to get it's own TV drama + I think Majima's the actual most popular character anyway, they're not obligated to keep him as the MC if they don't wanna use him.

Kiryu is more or less Yakuza's Mario, I doubt they can shelve him even if they want to.

No, it continuously improved outside of Dead Souls, it just devolved with Yakuza 6 since they jumped to a new engine and didnt make a spinoff to experiment with like with Kenzan or Ishin.

the engie doesn't have anything to do with anything except graphical rendering. They changed physics and some shit for a new system that it's supposed to detect collision more realistically and the end result was something completely clumsy because it's clear they don't have the experience to make something like this

Dunno if I'd bother buying Yakuza if Kazuma wasn't the main character tbqh. Never cared to play as any of the other characters either and I usually rushed just to get back to Kazuma. Though playing as Goro is kinda fun Yakuza 0, mostly because Kazuma's new move set is such shit, however.

I'm not buying Yakuza to play a game of Yakuza's styke. I'm buying Yakuza to play as Kazuma who saves little girls from big bad gangsters.

A Majima-Saejima game definitely could work considering they're already protags and are equally popular to Kiryu in Japan

But that's a big jump so Nagoshi may not want to go with that

I still think that they're prepping Akiyama to be the new protag, which I know not everyone here is onboard with.

I'd be fine with it but they've gotta revamp his moveset a fair bit. Keep it kick-orientated if they want but it's really massively underpowered compared to everyone elses in 5. His flp kick thing was useless at the endgame because mooks would just escape out of it midair.

They'd have to overhaul his whole fighting style because it's kind of tedious to have a protagonist whose whole fighting style is central to one gimmick (kicking) instead of covering all bases.

But otherwise I don't mind. Akiyama is p. cool.

If you compare 0 and 6 based on how they look alone, it's very clear that 6 looks very different.
Whether it's because of the game engine or rendering or whatever, is irrelevant; they fucked with a tried and true formula that has made their past games look and play much better, and got backlash for it.
You may be right that they have no experience with Y6's engine and collision detection, but they've nailed gameplay and physics multiple times in past entries.

>the engine doesn't have anything to do with anything except graphical rendering
No.

it does says it affects graphics

Yakuza 6 looks bland and the lights and shadows are often bad

Wasn't 5 on a new engine too though? The devs fucking made Binary Domain at the same time and it still turned out pretty alright, what the hell happened with 6?

Yep, Dead Souls was the last game to use 3's engine.
