Are racing games a dead genre?
Are racing games a dead genre?
NIGGER DIES IN CANADA
I'M CALLING IT
god i hope not
We can only pray
Reminder drifting is for losers
If you played a racing game in VR, you would know that racing games are alive and well. They might be for casuals though
please be true
Are there any racing games with a disparaging 86?
>tfw Daytona 3 sucked
Nope, looking forward to GT Sport and the next F1 game hopefully they make it a good one this year, I didn't get 2016 and 2015 was pretty bare bones but its fun. I think forza is still really popular on xbox
2016 was a lot better than 2015, but I still think 2013 with reduced tyre deg is the best, also upgraded AI.
Forza is fun but I always wished they the real licensed nascar and f1 cars and more oval track variety
So are a the majority of racing games VR or not VR?
Aren't Forza and Dirt doing pretty well? GT Sport should be coming out sometime this century and Mario Kart is still plugging along too.
How many of those Russian girls were BLACKED?
Sim racing is alive and well through iRacing.
Mainstream racing titles have become more niche than in years past. Outside of the big two (Forza and GT) and the licensed titles (F1, NASCAR, WRC), it's barren. Which I am fine with...only two simulation physics models I have to learn and stick with.
Don't say that, user. Please...
>Hamilton
>Black
Isn't he Anglo-Grenadian or something.
Also like five of them, to answer your question.
Post >yfw chocosenna's era is over
...
you mean wins?
I was wondering what the hell was happening on the 6th of december before I realised it was ameribong dates
Grip is for autistic retard who think that the type ricer look good.
>next F1 game
Fuck these assholes for removing split-screen all of a sudden. Me and my brother loved playing this shit and it was literally the only reason we were getting these games. I was so sure split-screen was in 2015 that I didn't even bother to check before buying. God, I was so fucking mad. $60 down the drain, since you can't even resell this shit for adequate price because who the fuck needs used yearly sports game.
Same for Project CARS. What the fuck? Is it so hard to implement? It used to run fine on a mother fucking PS1.
Meanwhile playing GT6 on my old PS3 when he comes over and looking forward to GT Sport. Don't fuck this up, PD.
Arcade? Yes. Sim? No.
>Arcade? Yes.
someone didn't played Forza Horizon 3
Grip is for people wanting to go fast
Drifting is for manchildren who want to think they're going fast
will he apologize?
I can almost guarantee you will not have split screen on GT Sport.
The loss of split screen was the Faustian bargain we implicitly made to get a solid 60 FPS and eye candy on console hardware.
PC version, on the other hand, can totally do split screen but devs do not bother as few use PC for couch play anyways.
>Honda
SadAlonso.png
And where does Americans fit in this? Their cars can't drift and they don't go fast.
not necessarily
the first race of a new era is notoriously bad for judging exactly how a season will play out
lol
Don't Xbone Forza titles have split-screen? I thought it was more of an ultimate jew move to force people buy a separate console every time you want to co-op with a friend.
You're a dead genre.
lol is that a initial d reference??
yea, it's music from the series
They turn left.
I liked FH3
Can confirm Forza 6 has split screen but the Horizon series does not.
This is the best F1 game.
It lives in the simulators.
Casual racing games are pretty much dead aside from forza though.
best racing game of all time coming through
They are actually good at both especially when you consider how cheap they are.
Manual, na v8, lsd and actually not that heavy.
>He hasn't heard
oilgate, look for it
tl;dr Mercedes are a bunch of cheating fucks
>Honda Mio
I'm so fucking stupid, I got that meme only now.
>all time
there have been a lot of games recently with drive clubs, project cars, the crew as still an somewhat active community
>Turn 10 pumps out consistently well acclaimed games every single year
>Polyphonic takes 4 years to make a paid demo
How do they do it lads
the new camaros zl1 have really good perf
american finally got into cars that turns
>Tfw no MMORPG open world racing game with heavily customization and thousands of makes, models, and different years to purchase and race
any good racing games on ps4 or pc? i'd love to play forza 6 but i don't feel like buying an xbone for it
How much you wanna bet GT7 will have PS2 models again?
Buy Horizon
Wait for 7
Alternatively play Assetto Corsa
Hell no.
>Drift City is dead
I know it's not exactly what you described, but I'll always be sad about this anyways.
drive club is alright try get a pack with all dlc they really increase the lifetime of the career mode
>Buy Horizon
>W10
And it really isnt that good. They should just go full NFS with the next horizon instead of this bland inbetweener.
Will we ever get a 5th game lads?
dirt rally is really good
i just hope they stop with the ken block shit
>it really isnt that good
Fuck outta here
Well not only is the obsession with cars niche in of itself, but very few games actually accomplish proper driving. It's a catch 22 to some extent;
If you dumb down the controls and make it more relaxed, you'll push away the dedicated car crowd, leaving it open to normies, who will probably ditch the game in a month.
If you tighten the controls, and make it more realistic (read; difficult), then you attract the small minority of car enthusiasts but lose the large crowd of normies.
Both options result in a loss of money and overall media attention. I'm honestly surprised even a few games remain at this point. Games are a lot more expansive than they used to be, so people don't have to settle for the "driving game" because it was the only one that shipped with the console or some shit. Dead genre.
At least you got it eventually.
Somethingsomething monkey paw
Of course EA would find how to ruin a good concept.
Best Skyline ever tho
Pls spoonfeed.
i loved that game until i noticed how much desync and pay2win brasilians there were
then i got a gem hack and got like 500 days in a row and had the best car parts and tons of money
Half of the money may come out of them at this point.
Driveclub is really hard for no reason, I can never win any of the newer dlc packs and later races in the career mode.
>implying theres anything wrong with fusing sim and arcade
Horizon is objectively the best arcade racer now that NFS has gone full jew.
explain how Dirt Rally was so successful then
really ? i found it to be rather balanced but i didn't get any dlc at all
well dirt rally work out to be a success no ?
i think they got the message
>this post is written in perfectly acceptable English to driftfags
games let you set how "hardcore" or "realistic" you want the driving now
I'd call it an outlier; an exception to the norm. Not to mention, "successful" is relative. To racing games? Sure. To everything else, not really. We can't base a whole genre on one accidental success.
I wouldn't say dead, but definitely niche. I'm not into cars/racing, tried one of the Forza games (horizon 2?) when it was free thru games with gold. Seemed solid but just didn't hook me.
...
what about Forza and Gran Turismo
Who's ready for the Forza and Gran Turismo killer?
>no underground 3
drive clubs and project cars also sold very well
I'll never forget when Vettel won the 2012 season and Alonso just stared at him it was the saddest thing I've ever seen
>get proved wrong
>"i-its an exception!!"
kek lad
...
Zero. They are models working at the russian grand prix. Russians think blacks are unevolved monkeys.
his British accent probably made them reconsider
also he is a fucking race car driver
All genres are nearly dead right now, other than FPS, Sports games, and licenced shovel ware.
There's been no rallysims other than old ass Richard Burns so it fills a niche
Theres tracksims released every year
Alonso is one of McLaren's drivers, and at the end of the 2015 season in Brazil his car broke down and he just gave up and set up a lawn chair.
McLaren is powered by Honda which has been a total shit car, so Mio Honda is drawn in the chair like Fernando was.
There's your spoonfeed
I run that Chino skin on my S14 too
But seriously dude get some better wheels
Yeah I hardly ever change rims. I don't like FH3's selection desu.
I wouldn't say so.
DiRT 4
Gran Turismo Sport
Forza Motorsport 7
Redout
WipEout Omega Collection
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Fast RMX
Slipstream GX
[Need for Speed 2017]
Ride 2
Gravel
Project CARS 2
Not to mention Assetto Corsa, which keeps getting DLC, including the Mazda 787B just now.
racing games dead? naw not yet.
you want dead? see pic.
i've always wondered where the fuck do people get gem and gold hacks for these kinds of games, you'd think this shit is super secure
delet this
plz
This. VR is god tier.
backward compability when
There have been little titles that have engaging more arcade physics and cuhrazy tracks but don't devolve into superfloaty drift business.
I'd love to see a game with trackdesign like rush 2049 for example but with more tight sections and more fluid grippy physics a la pgr but faster, more responsive and arcadey and a nice destruction physics that make it easy to survive mad ramps but need you to be careful.
Getting a nice middleground between things somewhat resembles or atleast incorporates real-life elements and going full f-zero or burnout can be incredibly tricky and is probably very subjective.
I liked the tracks and destruction of flatout games, but it was too icy. I fucking love f-zero games so much, but it doesn't really feel like driving a physical car in the slightest, track design in gx was very wide and barren except for a few. I loved elements of burnout, but drivingskill and cornering control wasn't all that important, if 2 and 3 had a baby it'd be my favourite entry in the series. Rush and midnightclub were really fun, but the physics were too jerky. Excite truck was fucking awesome, but wagglan and generally barren content wise.
haven't checked out redout and distance yet, but i'm afraid they go too much into wipeout floaty territory and higher emphasis on dodging/jumping then actual cornering.
Fuel's open world was crazy therapeutic, but the physics just shit.
Starwars episode 1 racer was really fucking good, and it was also really fucking good despite the shit n64 framerate and analog stick. I should get the pc version running some time.
But one of the main things i miss is style. I played the demo of Horizon and got absolutely stark raving mad of the nickteen mtv dudebro carculture voiceovers and burgermusic and those shitty arched flags everywhere.
Where are my crazy souped up occult musclecars from hell? Where are my space military vehicle racers? Where are my 70s blaxploitation racers? Where are my 50s cops and robbers racers?
>trackdesign like rush 2049
