How would you rank them?
How would you rank them?
Just the ones I've played.
6 > 7 > 9 > Tactics > 8 > Tactics Advanced > 12 > Crystal Chronicles > Type-0 > 10 > 5 > 1234 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 13, 13-1, 13-2
Any questions?
> III > I > II
> V = VI > IV
> VIII > VII > IX
> X = XII
Subjectively:
>IV = VIII > VI = VII > V = IX > XIII > LR:XIII = XII > XIII-2 I = II = III > X > X-2
Objectively:
>VII > VI > IV > VIII = IX > XII > XIII > X > V > XIII-2 > LR:XIII > X-2 > III > I > II
Haven't played XV.
1 and 2 aren't as bad as everyone says and deserve a playthrough. The encounter rate is high on FF1, so it's recommended to use a guide to get through the game as quickly as possible.
3 is actually one of the best games in the series and the only one to properly do the job system FF is known for.
4 was too tightly controlled and picked all your job classes for you, this is bad game design after giving us so much freedom with 3.
5 is decent and worth a playthrough. Some like the spin this game puts on the job system, I'm not sure about it.
6 goes back to the style of 4, picking all your job classes for you, but does it in a better way. Unfortunately the game doesn't really open up and let you go wherever you want until about half way through.
7 gives us freedom again with the materia system, as well as having some of the best characters, music, and writing in the series.
8 is crap and I just pretend like it doesn't exist
9 is good, one of the better games in the series. It's a combination of the linear, controlled style of FF4, and the freedom that FF3 and 7 gave us. Like FF7, some of the best characters, music, and writing
10 is overrated and has a lot of crappy parts that fans conveniently forget like the cloister of trials (some of those get really shitty later in the game). Also the battle system is so simplistic. There is no penalty for swapping out characters, so you just pick the right character to attack with. If it's a flyer, you attack with Wakka. If it's a big guy, you attack with Auron. If it's a fast guy, you attack with Tidus. If it's a magic enemy, you use the respective magic attack with Lulu or Yuna. If it's a robot, you steal with Rikku. It's all just Simon says crap.
Friendly reminder that Sup Forums has already decided.
My favourite > your favourite
XIV > VI > X > XII > IV > V > IX > III > VII > I > VIII >>>>>>>>> II
Switch 12 and 7 and it's perfect
Ha. Haha what sort of tomshittery is this with ff8 taking music so handily
why is XII so underrated?
It has great dialogue, the setting is believable and feels like it has history, the graphics/music are godly, and the three main party members are all excellent (Balthier, Ashe, Basch) with the three supporting party members being pretty alright despite not being show stealers (Vaan, Penelo, Fran)
Do people dislike that you can control your character in combat like an MMO?
...
FF8 silver... this is horse shit.
FF7 > FF9 > FF6 > FF4 > FFT > FFX > FF5 > the rest
I dislike it being a longform trot with virtually no difficulty whatsoever, so boring the better version added a button to fast forward through the gameplay
I have literally never played a game as brain numbingly boring as FF12
As a fan of Vagrant Story, FFXII is by far my favorite FF. I'm buying the Zodiac Age remaster because I wasn't ever able to finish it.
>KH2
>Outrageously bad
The only negative with the game is the shit story. Everything else was a vast improvement over the original.
12 > 6 > 7 > 1 > 10 > 9 > 4 > 3 > 8 > 2 13
I havent played 5 and 15. 11 and 14 are MMOs which I havent played either
>tactics that low
how the fuck do you even read this chart? is it number of votes for best?
Tactics at the top
Nothing else matters
Final Fantasy: Average.
Final Fantasy II: Second worse game in the series.
Final Fantasy III: Solid game with an amazing soundtrack for Famicom standards.
Final Fantasy IV: Best of the early FF games. pretty good. (After Years is shit)
Final Fantasy V: Dragon Quest bullshit ripoff.
Final Fantasy VI: Second best game in the series with the second best video game OST ever conceived.
Final Fantasy VII: Third best game in the series. Amazing story for the time.
Final Fantasy VIII: Shit, terrible story and unlikable characters with terrible designs. graphics look worse than VIIs. Absolute worst game in the series so far.
Final Fantasy IX: Undisputed champion of the series so far, despite it's flaws it fixes the problems previous PS FF games had. 10/10 game right here.
Final Fantasy X: Series started to waver into a romance orgy. Salvageable game but only barely.
Final Fantasy XI and all of it's expansions: Liking MMOs. Ever.
Final Fantasy XII: Convoluted zodiac system, unlikable protagonists and the antagonists are a joke.
Final Fantasy XIII trilogy: Mediocre
Every iteration of Final Fantasy XIV: Liking MMO. Ever
Final Fantasy XV: Nomura garbage, it's going to be shit.
I can't any opinion seriously that puts any numbered FF above Tactics. As someone who just recently beat tactics, the character arcs, dialogue, and music are unbelievably good and don't even feel like they're from the same company.
I'm not sure how you could put any #'d FF above it unless you just like standard turn based RPG over strategy rpg.
>8 worse than 13
also, you know 15 came out, right?
>Do people dislike that you can control your character in combat like an MMO?
It's literally a single-player MMO and not very fun one at that.
The setting is gorgeous (it's the one from Tactics, isn't it?), the music great, but the gameplay lets it all down.
>he thinks XV is finished
There's multiple games set in the same universe that Tactics is based in.
>Final Fantasy XV: Nomura garbage that Tabata stitched together. It's shit.
FTFY
I don't understand how FFV is a DQ ripoff. Its turn based? If it's a ripoff, why aren't FFI and FFIII?
>don't even feel like they're from the same company
probably because the team leads left their previous company for square in 1995 and started working on FFT. it's basically tactics ogre with black mages
>FF list
>includes randomly-picked spin-offs and other non-FF games for no apparent reason
The whole point of this image was to shit on KH2, right?
Why isnt 12 higher?
>4 was too tightly controlled and picked all your job classes for you, this is bad game design after giving us so much freedom with 3.
4 established all the bad trends of Final Fantasy that culminated in 13
CC wasn't bad at all
If 12 is like an mmo, then every final fantasy with ATB system is like an mmo
I don't know about other people but when I rank things I generally order them with the best at the top then in descending quality from then on.
Like I say though, other people may rank them differently.
5>4>1>12>9>3>10>7>6>13>2>8>13
That's just your opinions. Sup Forums chose this democratically.
Yes, every post could nominate one game for each category.
Tactics is great, but usually when we talk about FF as a series, we only count the main games - numbered and singleplayer.
And it's a tactical JRPG so it can't be really compared to other FF games.
It's slow, broken, and its job system implementation isn't actually better than the last game to use it's implementation because the game's balance is ass. I may like it more than most FFs but I will never rank it above V for many reasons.
>KH1 is god tier
>KH2 is shit tier
