I was playing through it for the first time, and I have beaten the first level (Liberty Island) and I loved it. Pretty neat.
Then I got to the UNATCO office, and... well, it's cool but I think I'm going to put my coding skills to good use (because lord knows I didn't do anything with it after college) and make a mod for the UNATCO office.
If, when you see the restrooms, you chose to enter the women's restroom, there's a woman inside who says is surprised and insulted, saying shit like "Did you expect a SHOW?" or "How unprofessional!"
Obviously this is problematic for trans* players who chose to enter the restroom representative of their identified gender, rather than the gender forcibly assigned to them at birth (or even just people role-playing as trans* or non-binary folk). I think I'm going to get a voice actor to re-record the dialogue and script some changes.
Maybe something like >"Oh, hi! Do you have a pad or a tampon? I'm out."
and then when JC gets to Manderly's office, he says some really bigoted shit about "staying out of the women's restroom" but I'll probably just nix that dialogue all together.
Anyone else know of any scenes/parts in Deus Ex I need to make more representative and less bigoted for today's day and age? The game takes place in the future and even TODAY we are far more progressive and less ignorant in matters of gender identity. It'd make sense to fix.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and pretend you're genuine and got some really bad advice on where to post this.
It's commendable that you want to try and create a mod to test your abilities but what you're setting out to do will not be received well. I get feeling strongly about something and wanting to include it in your work, I really do, but you need to understand most people play video games to escape the real world, and inserting modern political issues in a game that isn't fundamentally about them is doing the game and its players a disservice.
Mega Man 2 takes place in 2011. But we didn't have robots in 2011! Are you going to make a rom hack where the game is about Dr. Light traveling to debate eight Science Masters on the best locomotion technique for future robots?
Or 2001: A Space Odyssey. That's all kinds of wrong. Better go nix the spaceships and monoliths to represent the future of NOW!
Deus Ex doesn't need to be updated to be less problematic or bigoted, because it's a reflection of sci-fi cyberpunk stories in the year 2000.
Imagine if I modded, sorry for the obvious example, but Gone Home so that the dad has hidden printouts from MRA-type sites. It might add some character to him and make it more topical, but the modern men's rights movement didn't exist in the early 90s, and it runs counter to the game's message, so it wouldn't be good. See? Like that.
I hope you keep improving your ability. Maybe one day you can get on Deus Ex 4 or 5 or whatever they'll be on, and by then trans* stuff will be so normal that you can insert it and nobody will care. Best of luck to you.
