Can we discuss this game?
I find it interesting how much investment it requires from the player, you can find people with 4k hours of playtime giving it a negative reviews.
Is it evil?

>Trying to discuss a game on Sup Forums

>Play for 10 hours
>Get a small house built
>Get like 2 dinos because they take literal hours to tame if they aren't the tiniest flimsiest weakest dinos in the game
>A tribe walks by and crushes everything you have in seconds
>Start over fresh
The game is an exercise in masochism.

I bought it about three weeks ago and it's a hit or miss you either like it or you don't. If anyone plays this game play it with some friends because alone gets kinda boring after awhile.

Best to have a tribe of your own or play in PVE

imagine spending four thousand hours playing fucking ark

imagine all the stuff you could have been doing in four thousand hours rather than playing fucking ark

That's the problem with the game. It's not "best" to have a tribe. It is essential. If you aren't affiliated with someone large enough to protect/avenge you then you never, ever progress in the game.

There's no interesting interactions with other players, where you both bump into each other and you're not quite sure if you should attack or both just walk away but then oh shit dino attack and you end up having to work together to keep yourselves alive and then you go your separate ways. That ambiguity doesn't exist. You meet a player, he's part of a tribe, the tribe stomps you. End of game.

It's a poorly optimized exercise in tedium that expects you to pay for an expansion and dlc while still in Early Access. Open servers are a nightmare to all but the few autists who have dedicated their lives to them. Closed servers are more "fair", but there's only so much you can do to make a mechanically ill thought out and often broken game more fun and fair. More than half the time you die, it's rather due to its clunky interface or some random spawn that kills you without you being even able to figure out what's going on, at a place where you can't go and get the shit you spent literal days crafting before its too late. Fuck this game, and fuck sandbox games like it. Waste of a good concept.

you could have learned hundreds of talents

I wish there was some event where everyone has to team up and kill a large Dino army or something that would interesting. Gather resources make a
fortress fend off the beasts.

You could've learned 4 talents.

This "game" is a pile of steaming fucking garbage that's popular only because it's streamerbait, like the battle royale bullshit also is.

It has quite literally all the red flags
>open world
>survival
>crafting
>early access
>BUT WITH DINOSAURS GUYS

It's patethic. Also, hideously unoptimized, the UI is eye cancer, the gameplay uninspired, generic, confusing and counterintuitive, and bug ridden.
It could literally not be worse.

The man in that picture isn't nearly deformed enough.

While i do hate this game, it's probably the least streamerbait game to ever exist.
No one wants to see a guy tame a dinoasur for 3 fucking hours.

I think the most soul crushing part of the game is how easy it to lose everything, its like Wow with perma death.

Yeah, it's more of a youtube type of game where all the boring bits can be edited out.

i bought and expected a lot from this game and i got disappointed

>watch trailer
>buy game
>found a friendly server with friendly alphas
>1200 hours later
>befriend almost all players that play regularly on the server
>server transfer update dropped
>a week from the update and i got totally crushed by alphas from an another server WHILE OFFLINE
>feelsbadman.png
>drop the game
i was solo btw

sadly the game had a great concept but with shitty developers
i give it killme/10

that's almost half a year in actual time spent playing this shitty game, fucking hell I'd be angry about it too what a tragic use of time

assuming they live until 80 they spent 1/160th of their life playing a shitty dinosaur game, once you factor in all the time you lose to sleep and other necessary life stuff that's a relatively large portion of time like sheesh

I can't believe that shit, 4000 fucking hours on ark

And it's not the case of a "git gud" either. It's more to poor design there as an excuse to keep gamers from discovering how shallow the game actually is. It's an exception when you die thinking "yeah, I deserved that" or "this was due to my lack of skill", most of the time its due to random bullshit you have no control over or because the interface gets in the way of you staying alive.

oh :O lol

Told this story many times but the only reason I stopped playing was because I had played something like 150 hours in a little over a week. It was becoming an issue. You actually have to "live" in the game world and the fact that there are so many other people "living" there as well, makes all too easy to supplant reality. These people become your neighbors and family and the ark becomes thew world. Gathering, hunting, building and exploring becomes your job. It's too visceral and not gamey enough. Things get to the point where it's an addiction and you have to stop yourself. It's not healthy to stay glued to your battle station for that fucking long.

Breeding is the worst offender, whoever thought this shit is acceptable can't be human.
Honestly this "game" should be banned.

>If the baby hatches within fifteen hours of you going to bed, it WILL die in your sleep and you cannot prevent it
Did they ever fix that?

No, they even made it so that if you want a good baby you need to imprint it, taking more time and resources

I put in about 2k hours playing solo on an official PVP server. The growth of the game was pretty rad, and the server had a Chinese alpha that mostly kept the peace which allowed folks to build up and tame as long as they didn't look like they were trying to start shit (with the alpha or other chill newbies). Eventually the alpha (who ruled a bunch of different servers) went to eat with another Chinese uber-alpha and thanks to the (then-new) server transfers started wiping the smaller tribes off all our Alpha's servers. It was a lot of autistic fun while it lasted though.

They also added wyverns (which were the biggest selling point of the expansion pack) which can only be "tamed" by raising them.

>server transfers
the stupidest game mechanic
