PSP have feMC while PS2 have FES, so I'd say go with PS2 first then PSP. with that said I haven't really played FES before just the PSP version.

I wouldn't reccomend that, since The Answer is all tactics based and has a different knockdown mechanic from P3P.

P3P has less detailed scenes and actually changes some scenes since it is very limited by the VN format.
You get to see P3's story in a much wider scope and you can appreciate it much more.

Well story-wise would I be able to understand on what's happening? Are there no major changes regarding P3P's storyline to FES? I know its a dumb question since its the same fucking game. but I'm just making sure

They didn't upgrade the writing enough to make it work in VN format, so FES by far. The FEMC ost is really good though.

PSP is more streamlined and less annoying desu.
FES has more content though.

Story doesn't really matter because The Answer isn't canon anyways.

Nothing that would keep you from understanding the Answer, but the journey in P3P does miss a lot of chunks of details in scenes and it makes them less impactful, and also adds some small pieces of dialogue that weren't in the original game, but the plot as a whole is still untouched.

Long story short, P3P gutted out a lot of scenes, ALL of exploration outside of Tartarus, all cutscenes except Awakening which got downgraded hard, and even mechanics such as Fusion Spells.

P3P is the inferior version of the game only good for the novelty of slut protag.

PSP has improved gameplay but PS2 has 3D overworld and cutscenes. If you're up for playing the game twice, play the PS2 version first then play the PSP version as femaleMC (she gets different S links).

For something that isnt canon, and still had the major plot points, having a vagina doesn't make the story that much different. Keeping Shinjiro alive isnt that great. Going to Inaba for volleyball isnt crazy, hanging with the fucking girls in the springs isnt wayyyy out there, getting dicked by akihiko isnt AMAZING. Having elizabeth or theo isnt a game changer.

In the PSP version you just feel entirely disconnected from the cutscenes and the environments because it's static images.

ive just started playing this and the fact that activities/dungeons etc are timed is riling my autism something fierce. Does it matter if you dont max things out all that much? Could someone give me a basic gestalt on fusing personas?

Not at all, you shouldn't worry about not getting everything in your first playthrough, just find the things you like and do those.

Visit Tartarus at least once every 3 days, when all of your party members get tired feel free to leave.

Persona fusion is very important, but remember to register your personas when you get the compendium.

Also don't fuse orpheus until you get the compendium, since if you do you will lose a very good skill from him.

The skills passed in fusion are random and change every time you select the personas you want to fuse as shown in the the webm I'm posting, but certain personas have some affinities to different types of elements, which means they're more likely to learn a certain type of skill.
A persona that has fire as its main theme is more likely to learn a fire skill over any other one.

thanks senpai. I was wondering how long it takes to get into a rhythm of when to do things etc. Ive just done the tutorial visit to tartarus and am struggling to figure out what to do when im back at the dorm at night. I guess ill get used to it eventually tho.

At night it's grinding stats or going to the dungeon.
You need stats to make it with the girls in your party, by the way.
Eventually you start being able to clear a month's worth of dungeon in a single night, but early on the tiredness mechanic is annoying.

If you have free nights you should leave the dorm and go to the mall, the arcade there gives your current equiped persona a boost in stats or it can give you social stats depending on the game you play.
For persona stats:
Punching bag gives 3 STR to your current persona
Whack-a-mole gives 3 AGI to your current persona
Fortune game gives 3 MAG tp your current persona

For social stats:

Haunted House gives courage
Photo booth gives charm
Quiz game gives academics
Keep in mind these cost money, and the only way to get money in FES is selling stuff and finding money cards and briefcases in tartarus, so you should focus on getting equipement for your party before your personal stats.

Later on a store that lets you turn personas into weapons will appear, use it to turn any personas you don't want to fuse or use into weapons, since these weapons come with special effects like more health, stat boosts and even buffs.

That is exactly what you need on your first playthrough. Game is not that hard, you really would have to try to completly fuck yourself over. Just remember, if you think you hit a brick wall and cannot proceed further, the answer is always fuse those fucking personas.
