I'm playing this now and I don't really like it. It seems like the series would appeal to me a lot, does it get better?

>either incredibly easy puzzles or "trick" puzzles that are just stupid
>boring story and characters, no flair to the dialogue or any personality to it
>dull and slow paced

Other games in the series do seem a bit better. And I wanted to play through it as I like Pheonix Wright and wanted to play crossover properly. Should I just skip to that?

>does it get better?
Yes, I'm not a fan of the first game. The second one is better and Professor Layton and the Unwound Future is a master piece.

How about the prequel trilogy?

Do the puzzles become less retarded?

I think the puzzles are easier.

Also, do you still have to pixel hunt to "find" puzzles?

It's not about easy and hard. But it's about they try to trick you instead of presenting a proper challenge you need to solve.

>does it get better?

no! what the fuck is wrong with you? the first game is exactly good because of the trick puzzles and it's nice atmosphere that makes it feel like a sylvain chomet cartoon turned to videogame

it's in the later game that puzzles gets replaced with yet another one of those sliding puzzle that makes you want to kill yourself and the plot start becoming more and more stupid until you are wondering if you are playing fucking metal gear

You either like it or not. Might as well stop because its not getting better.

I personally love the games but theyre not for everyone.

I mean, some of the trick puzzles are ok, but mostly I dislike them.

I am also bothered by puzzles that can be solved multiple ways, but only one solution was predetermined by the developers.

Example is the run down dog. His legs could be facing either positions, but only one solution is correct.

you don't really need to play through the layton series to enjoy the crossover

.

I'd say you should at least play one Layton game and familiarize yourself with the story structure and the plot twists. It's pretty easy to be a Layton-only fan and play the crossover, but AA-only fans will have a rough time with the nonsense of the Layton titles if they're not used to it.

I use one hint coin!
because I'm retarded

100 minutes.
If this isn't the answer this question is fucked.

user, I think you have brain problems.

You're retarded

The question means the same thing as "One cat catches one mouse every five minutes"

Reminder that this is a game for 9 year olds

I read it as how long does it take 100 cats to catch 100 mice in 100 minutes.
So I am indeed clinically retarded.

Brit Luke dub > Yank Luke dub

No, the first game was the best one. The novelty wore off afterwards.

>first game got subs
>every game after got dubbed
Being dutch is suffering

There are no trick puzzles. You just have to read carefully and logic your way through them.

OHHH I get it it's 5
FUCK YOU LAYTON

It's 1.

Anyone else made the mistake of reading the manga?
