MGO2 is returning to unhacked PS3s, ETA The method used will cause a loss of installed games and saves on the HDD. It seems that there is a method to recover this data or to prevent its deletion that will be made into a tutorial when near release. Using a new HDD or complete PS3 makes this a non-issue. >Patch version is 1.36 >Everything will likely be 100% unlocked at the start. This may be changed to a casual grind. >Original run and Greatest Hits versions are the desired iterations of MGS4. To play on OFW consoles, you MUST have one of these discs and follow the "Restore From Backup" method spoken of in this OP. This is because they are the only discs with MGO2 data readily accessible. >Developers insist that it's undetectable by Konami. "All that's being done is bypassing the MGS4 game update from PSN, and changing the connection from the (...) Konami server to the SaveMGO server. We're also confident that this method is undetectable by Sony as well. The game reads no different from the actual 2.00 version (...) and the other file changes are minimal and within MGS4/MGO itself. Even if Sony/Konami were to pursue legal action against SaveMGO (...) there would be no way for them to detect the players that have modified their MGS4/MGO files."

25TH ANNIVERSARY MGS4 MAY BE CONVERTED TO BEING CAPABLE OF PLAYING MGO2
Woah woah woah woah woah. MGO2 is coming back? Can I use my copy of MGS4 from the legacy collection? I lost my original copy years ago.
Charles Fisher
Sorry, no, but you can get an older run of MGS4 for
Cameron Watson
BTW the reason is that the "Collection" versions do not have MGO2 data on them.
Also, doing the 25th Anniversary hack is complex and may cause your CFW PS3 to install OFW if you fuck it up. Best bet is to spend $3 and get an older version.
Andrew Morris
Got it, thanks for the info. Guess I gotta actually leave the house today.
Easton Davis
Sure thing, man, glad to have helped someone. I'm very excited for it, so I'm having fun shilling the fuck out of it and helping to get information. The greentext are common questions when I bring this stuff up.
Consider getting a USB Keyboard, too, if you don't have one already. Looking forward to getting my shit kicked soon.
Adrian Powell
THE BEST MULTIPLAYER GAME EVER CREATED WITH THE BEST CUSTOMIZATION MENU EVER CREATED ARE PLAYABLE AGAIN SOON AND NOBODY FUCKING CARES THIS IS WHY ASS DEFECT ANDROGYNA WILL BE A SUCCESS. GAMERS ARE ALL RETARDED. I CAN'T STOP YELLING!!!
Adam Hernandez
>1400 responders to the strawpoll in NA and Europe alone. >This is before I began my shilling campaign.
I agree with you, but we've got decent momentum right now. Let's spread the info and raise hype.
Brandon Morris
I wonder if they're going to program new heroes from other games, like Para-Medic, Paz, younger Campbell, and Kaz.
Adam Smith
fucking jesus man, this is too surprising, and i just woke up
Aiden Sanders
>using the "Big Boss approved" gif of the my meme
too far
Hudson Martin
Hahaha, glad it's getting the word out. Please vote in the poll if you intend to play to motivate the developer.
Drebin unlocked it for me.
Andrew Richardson
Sounds neat. Still have my original copy of MGS4 and PS4.
I might give it a run.
William Baker
I bet Trump is behind this somehow.
Hail Kek.
Jack Nguyen
*PS3
Nathan Hill
Do it!
Andrew Jones
FUCK.
My ps3 no longer plays discs.
Any way to get mgo2 for free?
Christian Gray
Hack it and run a HDD copy of a compatible run, that might work, but PSN version and other iterations will not. I'm OP and saying this as an amateur without a hacked PS3, I do NOT know that this will work for a fact, but that's what I think is the case right now and I'll look into it on the forum. Posting this immediately in case it 404s in the meantime.
Nathan Cooper
I guess i could hack it... It's just sitting there
>"You don't need to get a second PS3. Just what @ GHzGangster said: you can backup your PS3 to an external HDD and edit the files on your PC. Then you can Restore the edited backup, your PS3 will have all the data from before + MGO2." >"You won't lose any games but personally since I have some stuff I won't be able to access again (gamesharing, I don't have the passwords LOL), I'll get another HDD to replace my current one to which I'll restore the edited backup. That way If I ever need something old that didn't get copied because of accounts and stuff, I can just put the old HDD in and I'll be good to go."
I can't find any info on it, so from what I know I'm going to say TENTATIVELY that so long as you do something identical to using a disc, running an eboot of the proper disc in this case, the process should otherwise be identical and equally effective. I can't find much about it other than people saying that the PSN version won't work.
Zachary White
It took me 3 weeks and 5 different FUCKING GAMESTOPs to find another backwards compatible PS3. I am not risking all that time attempting to hack it now just to have it brick on me. But that's just me.
Gabriel Howard
what the fuck are you on retard? ps3 exclusive metal gears are the online ones i couldnt/cant play go yell at the jewish nips
Julian Butler
I don't blame you at all. You could, however, use another HDD. If yours has a low capacity, you could upgrade it and then use the old one to play MGO2R with no risk on OFW.
Blake Ramirez
New version of the OP with more direct quotes from the dev. Next time I make one of these threads, this will be it.

MGO2 is returning to unhacked PS3s, ETA The method used, if you use the easiest method, will wipe your HDD except for the files needed to play MGO2. The Developer has said that there is a way to avoid this: "If you need to keep data and copy it off to a flash drive, then you can create a backup, and modify it on your computer." >Patch version is 1.36 >Everything will likely be 100% unlocked at the start. This may be changed to a casual grind. >To connect, you need "(...) a version of the game that can play MGO, which is any version that came before 2012. So you can't use the 25th Anniversary Edition, Legacy Collection version, or Digital version." This is because other versions do not have MGO2 data accessible. >Developers insist that it's undetectable and safe. "All that's being done is bypassing the MGS4 game update from PSN, and changing the connection from the (...) Konami server to the SaveMGO server. We're also confident that this method is undetectable by Sony (...) The game reads no different from the actual 2.00 version (...) and the other file changes are minimal and within MGS4/MGO itself. Even if Sony/Konami were to pursue legal action against SaveMGO (...) there would be no way for them to detect the players that have modified their MGS4/MGO files." "Unless we're targeted by Sony or Konami, MGO would still persist through PS3 udpates. You would not be able to reject an update though, since you need to be logged in to PSN."
Alexander Perez
This is good.
Isn't it?
Nathaniel Gray
Wow, that actually made me sad. I heard it in his voice.
