goes to show that word-of-mouth can actually help if a game is good enough
Cool. Makes me believe in new updates
Cool!
65000 is nothing for the quality of this game at such a low pricepoint, shitty indie games sell half a million copies at $30 regularly
Devs are still grossly in debt and living on noodles.
Steam takes 30%
GOG takes 30%
Income TAX
Personal Loan repayments
They owe Indie Fund 750k
Hollow Knight isn't made by indie darlings like Fez or Inside were. There was practically no buzz about the game before release, which makes this pretty impressive.
hollow knight was a great game even if i dont 100% agree with some of their design decisions. the fact that shit like mass effect andromeda is getting more attention just because it's "hype" pisses me off to no end.
Are you sure? That they didn't even make a bit out of this? For how polished the game is it really should've sold like 500k. They need a marketer.
>Hollow Knight was hanging out alongside the likes of Owlboy, and Night in the Woods, real, legit indie games! We must’ve done something right.
Hollow Knight is better than either of those.
i would compare it to rabi-ribi quality wise, not fucking shitty owlboy or night in the woods. what is that writer thinking..
It's just not fair, this game was fucking amazing.
>An intense HK by Mamuru over at Pixiv. More work here: pixiv.net
They seriously linked Pixiv of a artist who primarily draws big-titty anime girls, and has 2B porn right on first page of the gallery.
These devs are cool guys.
He's being humble, come on. Owlboy had almost decade of hype, and Night in Woods got lots of coverage.
The power of eating is present in Hollow Knight. Find it.
That's good. It's a pretty great game.
There weren't really that many good indies last year, but we've started the year off good
It pisses me off to no end how rigged the indie market is
Rigged in the same way as the tripa market. Whoever has the marketing wins
I'm mainly talking about the "in" club of those politically fueled devs.
Owlboy was borderline terrible, it's insane it sold even 85k copies
Night in the Woods has also sold way too many copies considering it's a bad teen novel and not a game
Is Rabi-Ribi really that good? Maybe I shouldn't be judging a book by its cover, but it didn't really capture my interest.
This game gave me faith in video games.
It been a decade or more I didn't played a game like this.
What piss me off is the little to no coverage and people calling those thread chilling or bitching about minor flaws.
it's an amazing game
He was comparing the sales, not the genres.
Myla a cute. A CUTE!
Yes. You should take a look at some boss fights to see if it's something that you'd like.
Does anyone have any idea when to expect the switch port? I really want to play this game but I imagine id enjoy it way more on switch
Doomed
Well, the actual gameplay seems nice, but I'm kind of put off by the art style and the UI clutter.
the ui clutter is just that fight specifically, there are ton of buffs/debuffs for both the player and the boss.. usually you won't have more than 2 or 3
it's like a bullethell mixed with castlevania
It's normally not that cluttered. That fight's just special. It's more like this normally.
youtube.com
But yeah, I imagine some would be put off by the art style. I like it though.
so this game is good? It's rare that a game gets threads on Sup Forums which are around 98% praise
Shame about what happens
wtf not even a death monolog or nothing. how anticlimactic
Pretty good yeah
You get more out of her if she survives and goes back to Dirtmouth
She's happier dead
I'm just waiting for the switch port to pick it up. Hopefully when that drops it'll give a good bump for their sales.
*blocks your path*
Different user here. I played up to a few bosses (4-5 of them) and I just didn't like the metroidvania and exploration of it. I'd love it if it were just a boss rush. The rest of the game just seems dull in comparison. I can even handle the moemoe kawaii-ness
>only 65000
Its shit like this that makes me want to shill.
comfy
How are you supposed to deal with these guys?
>comfy
please die slowly
You can do charge-slash, attack when it's vulnerable and immediately dash back. Repeat maybe 3-5 times (depending on sword upgrade). Also you can use magic which goes through the shield.
yeh is good game
game is good , totally deserve it but not great like memer say in this board
really boring game. does nothing new. they should've put more effort in making each room distinct enough so you wouldn't even need a map in the first place, like in Zelda 1.
>keep walking up on them and forcing them back
>wait for them to attack
>hit them once quickly and dash back twice
repeat
it sucks because you can't be aggressive at all, but what can ya do
Minus one of them. They can all be killed with pogo slash.
I just charge slashed them and took the hit(s). IDGAF
that sounds horrible. Because they deal 2 damage per hit.
where to find these?
1) Royal Waterways. Down left I think
2) Get all grubs.
3) Past black barrier in deep nest.
4) Abyss. There's a door on left side of the wall you need 14 blue hearts to pass. Just use all your charms to get blue hearts and it will open.
Thanks, I totally forgot about the barrier in deep nest. I wish they were marked on your map because there's no way you can remember everything in this massive game
>It's rare that a game gets threads on Sup Forums which are around 98% praise
this happens for good games with niche appeal
good games with mainstream appeal generate shitposting
>I wish they were marked on your map because there's no way you can remember everything in this massive game
Yeah. I agree. It's hard to remember every place you can't pass and why. Especially when there's many of them. Another solution would be if they let you manually mark things on your map and make comments.

What is this? I thought the whole point of False Knight was that he wasn't a knight.
Armor belong to Hegemol, the actual Great Knight who served King
Ah makes sense.
