PC gaming is shit you should have done what I did and banked it all on your processor(unlocked i5 @ 4+) with a decent gpu (r 380/rx 480) and made it an emulation/port machine and play your shooters and console backlog on that.
PS4 for other games and nintendo for nintendo first party. PC gaming as a primary platform nowadays is a waste unless you like mobashit and mmos.

You can literally play almost any PC game at med-high settings with that, the only reason you should buy a PS4 is if you really want to play exclusives like Bloodborne and Gravity Rush.

Not really interested in a Switch right now (maybe when they do a revision) but Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is really tingling my jingles, it looks like it'll be a fucking amazing JRPG.
"Gaming" PCs are a meme. Something better than a toaster is good, but high-end is absolutely a fucking meme as long as consoles are a thing. I run every game I want to play comfortably with an i3-6100 and a GTX 660, and I play much more than low-requirement MOBAs and FPS games.
The problem was you did every single uninformed/tech illiterate person makes when building a PC and that is the bells and whistles. You wanted the ultra high end graphical experience but you should've realized you could do more with less. Even on medium/low settings at a high resolution you'd still be blown away and you could've saved a lot more money. You should always build a mid tier PC that can run current gen games at a nice setting so that you don't have buyers remorse.
I don't think it was an uninformed purchase though? For what I was aiming for (1080p/60fps) I think these specs were what made sense the most at the time.
Yeah I feel you, ironically (just like many ppl on this board say) japanese games made a comeback this time and those are what I enjoy the most, starting with Dark Souls.

You have to have a taste for autism simulators to really enjoy PC games. If you're in it for the AAA titles you may as well stick to consoles.
