About to go through the Baldur's Gate trilogy for the first time. What race/class should I use? Any recommended party members?
About to go through the Baldur's Gate trilogy for the first time. What race/class should I use...
Focus more on staying alive. If your main character goes down, it's game over.
About to go through myself as Shaman
this is why i usually play a support/range class
like ranger archer, mage, cleric or mage/cleric
maybe thief but they are so under powered never had to worry about locks traps tho
PICK A CLASS THAT SEEMS FUN, YOUR PARTY WILL COVER THE WEAK SPOTS OF YOUR CHARACTER
FOCUS ON RANGED WEAPONS FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF LEVELS. SLING/SHORT BOW. IF YOU WANT TO POWERGAME THROUGH BG1 ARCHER SUBCLASS IS BROKEN AS FUCK BUT FALLS OFF IN BG2/TOB. RANGER/CLERIC IS THE STRONGEST COMBO IN THE GAME ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
YOU NEED A MAGE. AT LEAST ONE. SLEEP IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. FEAR SPELL LATER ON. FIREBALL THE KING OF LEVEL 3 SPELLS. WANT A COOL TACTIC? SPAWN WEB, SUMMON SPIDERS, USE POLYMORPH SELF INTO A SPIDER AND RUN INTO WEBBED ENEMIES WITH YOUR SPIDER BUDDIES.
YOU WILL ALSO NEED A THEIF. IMOEN DOES FINE. FOCUS ON TRAPS/OPEN LOCK.
F/m half-elf, viconia, jaheira, korgan, edwin, imoen.
>half-elf
Literally the worst race.
You'd better to reconsider.
Is there a better feel?
>shitty resistances
>infravision
>and that's it :^)
Just use a regular elf.
shit that nigga has a lot of buffs
Elf has a penalty to constitution, half-elf is basically a human, but with multi-classing instead of dual.
-1 is nothing.
Half-elf also has class restrictions and brings nothing to the table. Go full blood either way instead of mixed trashed.
>mfw
cant you only have jaheira if khalid is in your party
or do you kill him off
>cant multiclass ranger/cleric
There's lots of ways to separate them. There's even a tweak in SCS that allows you to split them without resorting to murder.
For first time playing i would like to recommend you playing as a chaotic good warrior. Max str, dex, con, cha. It is the easiest way to win
I played it with a friend and we managed to get Minsc without Dynaheir, I think he locked her in a random ass house and left her there forever. You can probably do the same thing with those two.
Elf warrior/thief
take Khalid / Jaheira and Minsc / Dynaheir and Imoen
Be nice to Viconia
in BG2 take Viconia, Edwin, Korgan, and Yoshimo (replace with Imoen later). Use the last slot to let others temporarilty join your party for their personal quests (like take Valygar with you into the sphere - you get much better rewards this way). You can be evil with this team or just sit at high rep and randomly do some crap to keep frmo reaching +19 / 20 rep (or just install mod to remove rep restriction that makes them leave team). When you get to Thrones add Sarevok.
HI, FRIEND
*quaffs potion*
>run away like a bitch
>let guards kill him
the literal embodiment of casual filter
Hello, good sir. I'm just going to go over here and let these fine, muscular gentlemen with the naked swords in their hands do their jobs and maintain the peace here at the lovely Friendly Arm Inn. I might even lend them a hand once you become sufficiently distracted. Have a nice day.
The only blatantly bad classes are wizard slayer and shapeshifter.
Seriously why millennials just can't do things on their own and discover what they like or what they don't?
Will your experience will be that much better if I spoil half of the game for you and tell you the winning strategy for every boss battle?
isn't shapeshifter ok though? I've never tried one but from what I've heard they weren't too bad
you can't wear any armor
that means no bracers of strength
shapeshifter sucks disck
There's a lot things to do nowadays, people don't even consider to replay games.
>rangercleric
>not kenasaimage
But everyone loves Kensei and it has the same problem.
His disadvantages hurt more and more the further you progress in th game. And his flagship ability is hopelessly bugged.
BG2 tweaks has a module that fixes the class though, and brings it to high tier.
BG has enough abuseable mechanics to make anything work if you want to work a bit at it. But realtive to other options shapeshifter is usually pretty bad
No it doesn't. You don't play a straight up kensai, you dual class it with mage. Then you get a truckload of spells that makes up for it.
>Will your experience will be that much better if I spoil half of the game for you and tell you the winning strategy for every boss battle?
Yes. With over 100 hours of gameplay and an archaic/obtuse system, you better fucking believe people are going to ask for some advice.
>And his flagship ability is hopelessly bugged.
oh yeah now that you mention it I remember seeing people talk about how this class is a buggy mess
Doesn't the "can't wear any armor" shit carryover when you dual class into a mage?
This is completely false, by "no armor" it means the chest piece only and even then you can wear some bits like the shadow dragon armor.
Shifter is very strong
they're bad because they're incredibly bugged. i dont know how much did EE do to fix that because i always used bg tweaks that 'unbug' them. for instace instead of bonuses to stats they get set values on higher levels e.g. instead of +20% magic resistence they get set 20% magic resistence even if your actual MR is higher. with the mod installed shapeshifter is incredibly broken. i had constant -24 AC, close to 100% resistence of most elements and magic damage and regenearation so fast it rendered potions redundant.
my rangercleric would shit on your kensage any day. righteous magic is basically Kai that lasts a lifetime.
Playing evil isn't that fun in this game. You hardly get rewarded and only end quests sooner. If you really want to do an evil run i suggest staying just a bit below neutral allignemt so you can still use good and neutral companions.
Also play as a male character. The romance options you get in BG2 make it worth it.
>lured him to the gate where the two guards stood
>hid outside the gate keeping him just out of visible range
>managed to kill both guards, one after the other
>is now effectively guarding the gate to the inn
>mfw
Once you have unlocked the kensai abilities again, yes. But that doesn't matter. You will have strong melee ability and can self-buff out the wazoo.
Even stronger might be dual class with thief, since they get "Use Any Item" later one that means you can 100% ignore any item restrictions. Plus you can backstab while Kai active.
I'm on my third playthrough and still asking questions about the game.
Viconia is qt and you can mindbreak her into true neutral
When you kill Hexxat at sight
>blocks your path
Tired of waiting for retarded pathfinding every time you leave an area? Enable cheats and use Ctrl + J
who /hardcore/ here?
The only way to play.
>not dual classic Ranger into cleric
Weak
>missing out on delicious fighter HLAs
...
>You have been waylaid by enemies and must defend yourself
And people still say that bg1 is not a good game.
Literally finished Throne of Bhaal with Ascension and SCS yesterday. Final fight was hell. Fucking resurrected Abazigal with fucking Time Stop and endless recast of Protection from Magical Weapon, Sendai just runned from me, Balthazar with his fucking Second Wind and stances. Even fragile Illasera was very annoying with her dispel arrows.
Don't forget to gather your party before venturing forth.
I casted so many skulltraps on their spawnspots via wish-resting and project image abuse that they all died instantly.
this, was always like WTF i aint going into the overworld map, whats wrong!!!
This or a fighter with max Con. Either is good, just don't try to put your main in harm's way without a shitload of HP.
The queen bitchs are always the more fuckables
>Emo
Cernd?
>Queen Bitch
Jaheira
>Imbecile Sociopath
Shar-Teel?
>Bro Sociopath
Korgan
>Wandering whore
Viconia
>Preaching retard
Keldorn
Yeah Morrigan is best waifu.
That's remind me of Ravel in every obsidian game.
Ranger/Cleric or Fighter/Cleric?
Fighter/Cleric IMO but both are solid.
Which stronghold is the best, lads?
Duncan, Garrus and Wrex don't really fit.
if you're playing vanilla r/c is the most powerful combo in the game since you get both cleric and druid spells. in EE you can edit baldur.ini to get the same result. otherwise f/c will be better.
Best class to solo the game?
f/t/m or f/m or sorceror or bard
None is particularly great I will Say. Strongholds needs more mods and expansions.
Fighter maybe?
Paladin/Cleric/Druid are the worst for sure
Where the fuck are the .ini files with the GOG version?
Do any of you anons have the apk on you? I googled it but alot of them redirected to adware shit but I ended up fining one apk, the problem was it would go to the title screen and keep starting. Or atleast a proper nexus where I can find it.
documents/baldur's gate enhanced edition
Nah, I figured it out. The latest updates no longer use .ini files.
Remain dust, my foolish god.
