Why is this game considere bad here?

Why is this game considere bad here?

I just finished it an holy shit those feels...obviously a GOTY contender

Spikat guy is upset that his ship isn't canon

Is it better than Zelda?

if it was released last year, it would be praised more.
too many good games

Because it's PS4 exclusive.

>empty open world
>same mechanics as a 2012 vita game but with a few added gimmicks
>fighting feels like ass
>story written by someone with the attention span of a 3 year old

because it offers no challenge, filled with awful sidequests, too long and is generally no where near as imaginative and fun as the original

It's one of the few good PS4 exclusive games.
Too bad PS4 owners don't give a shit about it.

I think the brevity and smaller-scale world of Gravity Rush 1 really played to the games strengths and weaknesses. For example, the combat was pretty weak, but the length of the game meant that most people didn't spend an excessive amount of time with. With Gravity Rush 2 being longer, the flaws become more apparent. Also, the size of the world is larger, flying between points within it was tedious.

You mean the people who made threads for over a month don't care about it?

>empty open world

What? it was alive with the NPCs going down up doing shit

>same mechanics as a 2012 vita game but with a few added gimmicks

Fighting is much better than in the first game

>story written by someone with the attention span of a 3 year old

Fuck you lad. Damn I cried when Kat sacrificed herself

The only bad part of the GR franchise is the Raven DLC

It's typical animeshit writing and story.

>filled with awful sidequests

I never understood this, people are complaining about it all the time, I fucking loved them and I did all of them. They added a chard to Kat's character.

It sold 220k units worldwide in a month
A shit game like HZD sold 2,6 millions units in two weeks.

So it's a niche game?

You have no idea how sales work and what is suffecient to cover development costs etc.

You have no idea what video games cost to make.

A game like Uncharted costs about 20 million to make and then you can add about 10m for assets this gen. This is a cheap development cost for AAA but normal for first party with single platform target.

At least Sachya is very cute

>A game like Uncharted costs about 20 million

what the fuck

so what was 40 million abuoot ME andromeda?

>What? it was alive with the NPCs going down up doing shit
Different user, but the world lacks some meaningful ways for the player to interact with. The only thing you can do is sightseeing.

>Fighting is much better than in the first game
If you think spamming throw is much better than spamming kick.

>Fuck you lad. Damn I cried when Kat sacrificed herself
Okay. This doesn't make the story any better though.

80 hours and I just got school uniform 1.0, how the fuck do you get more dusty tokens? I've taken tons of pictures and had only one reviewed, and I do like 4-6 treasure hunts every sitting but only 2 people have used my hints.

It's not a bad game at all. It has higher highs and lower lows than the first game.

The flying mechanics are the best they've ever been. Lunar and Jupiter style were a great idea for the flying, the new city was cool and nicely different than anything before it in GR1, and the story was kind of neat.

Now the bad stuff

The combat still fucking sucks. And now with a worse framerate and more moves tacked on without the old issues addressed, it feels even more like a sloppy clusterfuck. I will say though at least now you can do the gravity throw to kill stuff. Combat unfortunately is still the least fun part about GR.

Also in GR1, you unlocked parts of the world piece by piece, so when you unlocked a new part, it was a big deal to go explore it. And then you go find orbs by exploring, which make you faster, have more gauge, more health and make your attacks stronger.
But in GR2 there are no restrictions on entry, except the military island, which is only for like 5 minutes, which makes exploration kind of anticlimactic after the first 20 minutes. THEN, orbs no longer buff anything besides attacks, except gravity sliding, which isn't even really done to make it faster. And since the combat isn't fun to begin with, searching for orbs is almost meaningless. Also half of the side missions fucking blow.

All I want to do is fly around, and GR2 is the best way to do that. But design wise and for a first playthough, GR1 is better for sure.

worse fov

Kat is a smelly hobo

We had great threads after the game came out, obviously Sup Forums will start to hate it after a few weeks

>fully modeled nipples

>What? it was alive with the NPCs going down up doing shit
That doesnt mean much when you can't even talk to them. Id rather they had it like BotW where there are less NPCs, but each of them have something to say. But then again that doesn't really suit this kind of game. At the very least it should have had side missions that weren't just delivering papers and random fetch quests.

>Fighting is much better than in the first game
Lol no it fucking isn't. And the lunar and Jupiter styles don't even help with combat, just overly complicate it. In the end I just threw shit at the bad guys and spammed regular gravity kick. They really needed to fine tune that more, maybe throw in a proper lock on.

yeah but HZD had 10 times dev budget and double that for marketing Budget, in the end GravRush made more profit

>awful sidequests

bait

>why is a sony exclusive considered bad on Sup Forums - Shitendo

Gee, I wonder.

>obviously a GOTY contender
I mean maybe for PS4 game of the year, but it's nothing compared to BotW, Nier or Nioh. I'd say even RE7 was better.

>Why is this game considere bad here?

because it's a sony game and Sup Forums is nintengaf.

Gravity Rush is probably the most innovative game since Portal.

What other game lets you play around with gravity mechanisms in a 3d environment?

The original game was a piece of shit, i brought them both on sale and I'm hoping the combat and repetitiveness is fixed in 2

I wish the plot was better. It just jumps around like crazy. Also what the fuck was up with Syd being Alias? How does that make any sense? What was he doing in GR1 with the gem things? Where did they go in GR2?

Great game though, I agree with most of the points people bring up, but the game is just so damn charming I can't find fault in it. Great aesthetics and music and likable characters go a long way.

Spoiler?

ME2 cost 35million
Andromeda was a gigantic waste of money.

Wait, Sup Forums hated it? I thought they loved it.

I don't consider it bad but I think it was a disappointment in a narrative sense for sure.

Syd was actually the manifestation of one of Kat's trusted loyalists who died. So he wasn't actually Alias the entire time. Alias' physical being was completely separate (since he was manifested in a robot) and was trying to save Eto.

There's no clear answer and anyone who claims otherwise is regurgitating their fanwank as if it were canon.

Literally nobody says this games bad or at least makes a thread saying it's bad. I've never played it but waifushills are what I hate about it

Did she die Sup Forums?

I don't think so, you could see Raven being happy and saying Kat in the ending and you can also see her and Dusty's shadow in the final picture of the credits

No, don't be a retard. Its obvious as fuck she returned at the end.

It can be an imagination or vision or somethng like that.

Those japanese fuckers confirme it that they won't make 3 until ps5 FUCK

Recognising that Syd and Kat had the more well developed (platonic) relationship than Raven and Kat doesn't mean you ship them, nor does saying that it'd make more sense if Syd was with Raven for the final scene.

That's not what the game implies at all.

I don't think it's bad, it just got overshadowed quick. This year is just really good.

>japanese game
>weebs crying about muh feels
wow, this is a new development

If they make a Gravity Rush 3 I want co-op.

i have trouble getting into gravity rush
does the combat get better at all? floating, throwing a rock or two and dive kicks got dull within the first couple hours.

Is this a fanart?

Yeah.
Everybody knows Kat doesn't have electricity.

>does the combat get better at all?
No, literally all the fun of the game comes from dicking around with the flying mechanics outside of quests. The combat is bad through and through.

It's a good game, it just happens to be worse than the original. Still liked it enough to get the plat.

I had a TV an a fan in my platytrhough

>Homeless
>Fivehead
>Womanlet
>Swarthy
>Smelly
>Dumb

No wonder no one likes her game.

no, it's bullshit fanmade story. Don't listen to that idiot.

Basically:
>Syd was a friend/advisor to Kat in Eto who saved her life during an assassination attempt, but then got stabbed and let her fall down the pillar
>???
>Syd becomes a cop in Heksville before Kat lands in it
>???
>Syd is orchestrating Alias' schemes and manipulating Kat into confronting him, for no readily discernible reason
>Kat goes down the pillar
>???
>Syd is a member of the military and greets her upon her return
>???
>Syd for some reason now acts even more casually, openly displays his inventive and musical sides which were previously unmentioned, and has taken to drinking wine as a hobby - he also still pals around with Kat and Raven
>Gravity Rush 2's first chapter goes down, Syd is killed during the conflict against the sentient Nie Hirlaeon
>???
>During Chapter 2 of GR2 Syd manipulates a mechanical Alias body and the Grigos to lead Kat, Lisa, and others around as he pleases....somehow
>During Chapter 3 Syd meets with Xerxes (or whatever) via the Alias body, then when that's destroyed he greets Kat in Bit's domain after apparently having met him somehow after dying
>???
>Syd returns for the final battle and deploys an army of Nevi versus the darkness, bids Kat farewell afterwards
>???
>Syd is back to being a wine loving, lackadaisical cop
>Game ends

Yeah, Syd is a bit of a mess narratively speaking..

I fucked your mom

>Co-op
How hard do you want to tank the framerate you madman?

...

They already said there will be no GR3 on current hardware so let's just hope the PS5 or vita 2 will deliver.

The worst part is that even if you assume the Alias shit was him trying to push her to master her powers it doesn't explain why he'd prepared it all before she even landed since she only got Dusty during the fall.

Literally nothing about him makes sense. I could swear the Alias shit is a retcon made to try tie up loose ends but it was blatantly teased in 1 so the lack of explanation or any logical way it could make sense is extra galling.

This is why Raven DLC will always make me mad
>Have a conflict with a pretty simple resolution (they literally just have to do some magic bullshit to wake some kids) so they should have plenty time to maybe make some sense of the rest of the franchises bullshit
>Instead spends the entire DLC resolving the kid stuff in the most convoluted way, guts Ravens character and makes the first game even more nonsensical

Man don't even get me fucking started on that bullshit. I can't wrap my head around what the fuck Toyama decided was necessary about it.

It wouldn't tank the framerate at all mate. Not even related.
The only reason Gravity rush 2 has 30fps is because they chose to spend an excessive amount of rendering budget on insane amounts of physics objects and alpha transparency effects.

Because it's not literally perfect, so it must be complete garbage.

Sup Forums is kind of a shithole for finding opinions. I fucking adore this game. Yeah its got some flaws but it's still a good game.

Where did anyone say it was garbage?

Imagine a gravity rush 3 with completely revamped graphics engine and ultra precise physics.
I would love a AAA gravity rush.

would never happen though ;_;

Hyperbole, nigga.

...

GR1 did everything right except the gameplay was boring as hell, GR2 looks too similar for me to pick up the sequel.

It's an all-around improvement. Combat is more fluid, momentum when you return to normal gravity makes sense, etc. If you're not the type to cry over 30fps, get it. Get it used if you're really wary.

There are new gravity "styles". One of which makes movement fun as fuck, but only in more enclosed spaces, but makes combat feel even more like shit.

The other style is only useful for fighting large stationary objects (of which there are none) and sliding.

I find that using Lunar to jump up high, hitting R1 to make yourself stationary, and switching to Jupiter for a surge kick to be pretty useful when getting crowded. But yeah combat in Lunar style is fucking awful.

GR2 improves most of the gameplay and then completely fucks up the content. Combat is much better, as is traversal, and only the targeting system and camera aren't improved (and may actually be worse). But many of the missions/side missions and the plot are all crap.

Finished it today. Started to cry when the singing scene started until the end of the credits and plus 10 minutes more. Fuck this game.

>Lunar style
>Not fun in combat

What the fuck? Lunar style is fun as Hell in a fight.

Because it was padded to shit.

Fuck no.

Lunar, normal, and Jupiter all have their uses in combat

Lunar is great for:
>dealing with fast moving aerial cunts
>dodging around projectiles or lasers with wormhole kick
>clearing out humanoid and mechanical enemies by picking them up and chucking them around
>locking down an enemy so you can beat on them in another mode when necessary

Normal is:
>All around decent in most situations
>Good for dealing with slower moving aerial enemies since you can chain gravity kicks with ease
>Great for clearing out large crowds of aerial enemies with the charged telekinetic throw

Jupiter is for:
>Dealing with ground enemies that have low resting cores since you can just mash through them far faster than either of the other two modes
>Clearing out huge ground crowds with a single surge kick
>Breaking armour fast
>Dealing with larger mecha enemies
>Tanking through fights where damage is an inevitability

Not to mention how each has their benefits for movement, which is a vital part of combat.

Sounds all fine in theory, but in-game throwing stuff and the piercing throws in normal mode are the single most effective way to deal with 90% of the enemies.
